  • CheckBox won't toggle in Android ListView with focusable="false"

    I'm creating a ListView with a custom Adapter for displaying my entries. Each row contains a checkbox, and my adapter contains the following code: CheckBox cb = (CheckBox) v.findViewById(R.id.item_sold); cb.setChecked(p.isSold); setupCheckboxListener(cb, v, position); ... private void setupCheckboxListener(CheckBox check, final View v, final int position) { check.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { CheckBox cb = (CheckBox) v; if (cb.isChecked()) { System.out.println("Should become false!"); cb.setChecked(false); } else { System.out.println("Should become true!"); cb.setChecked(true); } } }); My row XML file includes the following: <CheckBox android:id="@+id/item_sold" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="0.10" android:layout_gravity="center" android:gravity="center" android:focusable="false" android:clickable="false"/> But anytime I press one of the checkboxes, check.isChecked() returns true, even if the box is unchecked. I even checked to make sure that the checkboxes were distinct and weren't picking up just the last value/etc. Setting up the listeners inline instead of in a method doesn't seem to help, either. It's literally just the isChecked() condition that isn't working appropriately - it seems to always give me the inverse value. Setting an onClick on the row is not acceptable in this case because I need to allow row selection for something else. What could be causing this issue?

  • "Android Create" call fails in windows 7 - missing JDK

    I'm having a problem getting my android dev environment setup in Windows 7. I follow the instructions here, as well as several environment sublinks. I am using Eclipse with the Android plugin. I have installed the Java JDK several times, in various locations (jdk-6u20-windows-i586.exe) - but I am obviously missing something. Every time I run "android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd" I get an error: C:\Users\andrew>android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd WARNING: Java not found in your path. Checking it it's installed in C:\Program Files\Java instead. ERROR: No suitable Java found. In order to properly use the Android Developer Tools, you need a suitable version of Java installed on your system. We recommend that you install the JDK version of JavaSE, available here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ You can find the complete Android SDK requirements here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/requirements.html This error message is the reason for me installing the JDK several times over. First I tried installing to a location on my e: drive. I then moved it to the default loc (program files (x86)\java\jdk.6.something. I also tried forcing it to go into the program files\ path, but it still automatically installs into the (x86) path. I have added the install path to my path environment variable every single time, yet I still continue to get this error. My suspicion is that windows 7 and the android tools are not playing together well in terms of finding the JDK, but who knows, it may be something entirely different. If you have seen this error before, I would appreciate a hint.

    When I create an Android project in Eclipse and send it to my device for debugging, the app works fine but when I try to uninstall it, I get a strange message. Below are the steps to recreate my problem: Eclipse Version: 4.2.0 Build id: I20120608-1400 ADT Version: 2.0.3 v201208082019-427395 Run Eclipse Click File-New-Project... Select Android/Android Application Project Click Next. Enter Application Name: Test Build SDK: Android 4.1 Minimum Required SDK: API 8 Android 2.2 Enable: Create custom launcher icon / Create project in workspace Click Next thrice. Click Finish. Connect 4.1 Android device to computer via USB. Click Run-Run from menu. Select "Android application" on popup the "Run As" popup. Click Ok. MainActivity application runs on device. Click the Back button on the Android device. Open applications on device and find "MainActivity" app. Long press the MainActivity icon and drag to trash. Here's the puzzling part: Instead of getting a standard Do you want to uninstall this app? I get a dialog with this text: MainActivity is part of the following app: Test Do you want to uninstall this app? Why do I get this message instead of the standard one? Why is MainActivity the name of the app when I specifically stated the name of the app is "Test"?

    Hi all I have followed the instructions on the Android website on how to download the latest android source code files but it gives errors when i run this command: repo init -u git://android2.git.kernel.org/platform/manifest.git It gives the following error: Getting repo ... from git://android.git.kernel.org/tools/repo.git android.git.kernel.org[0: 199.6.1.176]: errno=Connection refused android.git.kernel.org[0: 130.239.17.12]: errno=Connection refused fatal: unable to connect a socket (Connection refused) On checking forums for its resolution, i was told that port 9418 was being blocked. I use Ubuntu 10.04 and ensured that the firewall wasnt blocking the port and also enabled the port and the above IP addresses. I also spoke to the networking peeps who ensured that no traffic from the internet is being blocked. I would be glad if i could get directions on how to proceed next. Many thanks as you respond.     i am not an android developer, prefer C# but i want to play with andorid a bit since i have a android device, apologize in advance for it. i want to make a simple app in android with the basic CRUD functions (create, read, update and delete) while the basic option is to use SQLiteOpenHelper i've seen DAO generators (like greenDAO) that make life more simple as i see it. so the first question is what DAOgenerator to use (if it all)? next is how to properly show it, while i know i need listview i still don't figure out exactly how to bind the database to it and to the querys i'll make for proper display each time i make a new query from a "search" screen, to the main "list display" screen

  • Source of Unexplained Requests in Server Logs

    Hi, I am baffled by some entries in my server logs, specifically the web-server logs. Other than normal, expected traffic, I have noticed three types of request errors (eg 404, etc.): Broken links, ie links from old, external pages that point to pages that are no longer here Sequences of probes, ie some jerk trying to hack in by scanning my server for a series of exploitable admin type pages and such What appear to be completely random requests for things that have never existed on the server or even have anything to do with the server, and appear by themselves (ie not a series of requests like the probes) Could it somehow be a mistyped URL or IP? That’s about the only thing that I can think of, but still, how could I get a request on say, foobar.dyndns.org (12.34.56.78) for something like www.wantsfly.com/prx2.php or /MNG/LIVE or http://ant.dsabuse.com/abc.php?auth=45V456b09m&strPassword=X%5BMTR__CBZ%40VA&nLoginId=43. (Those are a few actual requests from my logs.) Can someone please explain scenario three to me? Thanks.

    I've currently got a preferences screen, and I've created a custom class that extends DialogPreference and is called from within my Preferences. My preferences data seems store/retrieve from SharedPreferences without an issue, but I'm trying to add 2 more sets of settings from the DialogPreference. Basically I have two issues that I have not been able to find. Every site I've seen gives me the same standard info to save/restore data and I'm still having problems.     While working for an employer if one modifies, rewrites, contributes or alters open source software in what cases can it ever be considered a trade secret? A trade secret, FWIW, is defined by wikipedia as: A trade secret is a formula, practice, process, design, instrument, pattern, or compilation of information which is not generally known or reasonably ascertainable, by which a business can obtain an economic advantage over competitors or customers. In some jurisdictions, such secrets are referred to as "confidential information", but should not be referred to as "classified information", due to the nature of the word in the USA.

  • Best ways to sell management on the benefits of Open Source Software?

    I have worked in a few places where the use of Open Source Software in products they produce is strictly forbidden for various reasons, such as: no formal support lack of trust in something perceived as "just downloaded from the internet" How can it be professional if it's not supported, we don't pay for it etc etc I'm looking for the best ways to convince/prove to management that things won't fall apart should we use these tools.

    Say a company wants to keep development of new features of a piece of software internal, but wants to make the source code for previous versions public, up to and including existing public features, so that other people can benefit from using and modifying the software themselves, and even possibly contribute changes that can be applied to the development branch. Is there a term for this sort of arrangement, and what is the best way of accomplishing it using existing version control tools and platforms?

  • How do you check out what's hot in the open source space?

    I am trying to look for resources (sites, magazines, blogs, twitter etc) that track what's hot and happening in the open source space. This is programming language agnostic, I am more interested in knowing what kind of cool apps people are coming up these days particularly in the enterprise and scientific computing space. I am also into compilers, debuggers and other low level stuff. Any help appreciated.
