  • Oracle sql: using bind variable for dates..

    - by user333747
    Here is a simple working query without bind variables: select * from table1 where time_stamp sysdate - INTERVAL '1' day; where time_stamp is of type DATE. I should be able to input any number of days in the above query using bind variable. So I tried the following and does not seem to work: select * from table1 where time_stamp sysdate - INTERVAL :days day; I tried entering the numeric input both as 10 and '10',for eg. You get ORA-00933 error on 10g.

  • ASP.NET MVC2 RC : How to intercept or trigger client-side validation before ajax request?

    - by jacko
    I have a username textbox on a form, that has a few validation rules applied to it via the DataAnnotation attributes: [Required(ErrorMessage = "FTP login is required")] [StringLength(15, ErrorMessage = "Must be 15 characters or fewer")] [RegularExpression(@"[a-zA-Z0-9]*", ErrorMessage = "Alpha-numeric characters only")] public string FtpLogin { get; set; } I also have a button next to this text box, that fires off a jQuery ajax request that checks for the existence of the username as follows: <button onclick="check(this);return false;" id="FtpLoginCheck" name="FtpLoginCheck">Available?</button> I'm looking for a way of tieing the two together, so that the client-side validation is performed before the call to the "check(this)" in the onclick event. Edit: To be more clear, I need a way to inspect or trigger the client-side validation result of the textbox, when I click the unrelated button beside it. Edit: I now have the button JS checking for $("form").validate().invalid, but not displaying the usual validation messages. Almost there Any ideas?

  • Marshall a list of objects from VB6 to C#

    - by Andrew
    I have a development which requires the passing of objects between a VB6 application and a C# class library. The objects are defined in the C# class library and are used as parameters for methods exposed by other classes in the same library. The objects all contain simple string/numeric properties and so marshaling has been relatively painless. We now have a requirement to pass an object which contains a list of other objects. If I was coding this in VB6 I might have a class containing a collection as a member variable. In C# I might have a class with a List member variable. Is it possible to construct a C# class in such a way that the VB6 application could populate this inner list and marshal it successfully? I don't have a lot of experience here but I would guess Id have to use an array of Object types.

  • Setting winforms ToolStripMenuItem ShortcutKeys to numpad key does not work

    - by Axarydax
    We have the ability to define ShortcutKeys for WinForms application menu items. That way I can tell a menu item File-Save to have a shortcut key Ctrl+S and the menu item's handler is "magically" executed after pressing Ctrl+S. The trouble is with the numeric keypad keys, the ShortcutKey property does not accept them (I don't understand how are they different from the other acceptable keys. MSDN states that the property accepts type System.Windows.Forms.Keys (One of the Keys values. The default is None.); and an InvalidEnumArgumentException would be thrown when the parameter is not one of Keys values. But for example Keys.Divide IS one of Keys values, and yet it can't be used. So how can I set a menu item to have a shortcut for Numpad * or Numpad +? Do I need to handle the key in Form's ProcessCmdKey event? Thanks

  • Homoscedascity test for Two-Way ANOVA

    - by aL3xa
    I've been using var.test and bartlett.test to check basic ANOVA assumptions, among others, homoscedascity (homogeniety, equality of variances). Procedure is quite simple for One-Way ANOVA: bartlett.test(x ~ g) # where x is numeric, and g is a factor var.test(x ~ g) But, for 2x2 tables, i.e. Two-Way ANOVA's, I want to do something like this: bartlett.test(x ~ c(g1, g2)) # or with list; see latter: var.test(x ~ list(g1, g2)) Of course, ANOVA assumptions can be checked with graphical procedures, but what about "an arithmetic option"? Is that manageable? How do you test homoscedascity in Two-Way ANOVA?

  • Using clang to analyze C++ code

    - by aneccodeal
    We want to do some fairly simple analysis of user's C++ code and then use that information to instrument their code (basically regen their code with a bit of instrumentation code) so that the user can run a dynamic analysis of their code and get stats on things like ranges of values of certain numeric types. clang should be able to handle enough C++ now to handle the kind of code our users would be throwing at it - and since clang's C++ coverage is continuously improving by the time we're done it'll be even better. So how does one go about using clang like this as a standalone parser? We're thinking we could just generate an AST and then walk it looking for objects of the classes we're interested in tracking. Would be interested in hearing from others who are using clang without LLVM.

  • simple C++ hash_set example

    - by celil
    I am new to C++ and STL. I am stuck with the following simple example of a hash set storing custom data structures: #include <iostream> #include <ext/hash_set> using namespace std; using namespace __gnu_cxx; struct trip { int trip_id; int delta_n; int delta_secs; trip(int trip_id, int delta_n, int delta_secs){ this->trip_id = trip_id; this->delta_n = delta_n; this->delta_secs = delta_secs; } }; struct hash_trip { size_t operator()(const trip t) { hash<int> H; return H(t.trip_id); } }; struct eq_trip { bool operator()(const trip t1, const trip t2) { return (t1.trip_id==t2.trip_id) && (t1.delta_n==t2.delta_n) && (t1.delta_secs==t2.delta_secs); } }; int main() { hash_set<trip, hash_trip, eq_trip> trips; trip t = trip(3,2,-1); trip t1 = trip(3,2,0); trips.insert(t); } when I try to compile it, I get the following error message: /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ext/hashtable.h: In member function ‘size_t __gnu_cxx::hashtable<_Val, _Key, _HashFcn, _ExtractKey, _EqualKey, _Alloc>::_M_bkt_num_key(const _Key&, size_t) const [with _Val = trip, _Key = trip, _HashFcn = hash_trip, _ExtractKey = std::_Identity<trip>, _EqualKey = eq_trip, _Alloc = std::allocator<trip>]’: /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ext/hashtable.h:599: instantiated from ‘size_t __gnu_cxx::hashtable<_Val, _Key, _HashFcn, _ExtractKey, _EqualKey, _Alloc>::_M_bkt_num(const _Val&, size_t) const [with _Val = trip, _Key = trip, _HashFcn = hash_trip, _ExtractKey = std::_Identity<trip>, _EqualKey = eq_trip, _Alloc = std::allocator<trip>]’ /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ext/hashtable.h:1006: instantiated from ‘void __gnu_cxx::hashtable<_Val, _Key, _HashFcn, _ExtractKey, _EqualKey, _Alloc>::resize(size_t) [with _Val = trip, _Key = trip, _HashFcn = hash_trip, _ExtractKey = std::_Identity<trip>, _EqualKey = eq_trip, _Alloc = std::allocator<trip>]’ /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ext/hashtable.h:437: instantiated from ‘std::pair<__gnu_cxx::_Hashtable_iterator<_Val, _Key, _HashFcn, _ExtractKey, _EqualKey, _Alloc>, bool> __gnu_cxx::hashtable<_Val, _Key, _HashFcn, _ExtractKey, _EqualKey, _Alloc>::insert_unique(const _Val&) [with _Val = trip, _Key = trip, _HashFcn = hash_trip, _ExtractKey = std::_Identity<trip>, _EqualKey = eq_trip, _Alloc = std::allocator<trip>]’ /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ext/hash_set:197: instantiated from ‘std::pair<typename __gnu_cxx::hashtable<_Value, _Value, _HashFcn, std::_Identity<_Value>, _EqualKey, _Alloc>::const_iterator, bool> __gnu_cxx::hash_set<_Value, _HashFcn, _EqualKey, _Alloc>::insert(const typename __gnu_cxx::hashtable<_Value, _Value, _HashFcn, std::_Identity<_Value>, _EqualKey, _Alloc>::value_type&) [with _Value = trip, _HashFcn = hash_trip, _EqualKey = eq_trip, _Alloc = std::allocator<trip>]’ try.cpp:45: instantiated from here /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ext/hashtable.h:595: error: passing ‘const hash_trip’ as ‘this’ argument of ‘size_t hash_trip::operator()(trip)’ discards qualifiers What am I doing wrong?

  • Coldfusion 8: Array of structs to struct of structs

    - by davidosomething
    I've got an array items[] Each item in items[] is a struct. item has keys id, date, value (i.e., item.id, item.date, item.value) I want to use StructSort to sort the item collection by a date Is this the best way to do it in ColdFusion 8: <cfset allStructs = StructNew()> <cfloop array = #items# index = "item"> <cfset allStructs[item.id] = item> <cfset unixtime = DateDiff("s", CreateDate(1970,1,1), item.date)> <cfset allStructs[item.id].unixtime = unixtime> </cfloop> <cfset allStructs = StructSort(allStructs, "numeric", "desc", "unixtime")> It's going to be dreadfully slow

  • Getting float values out of PostgreSQL

    - by skymander
    I am having trouble retrieving float/real values out of PostgreSQL. For example, I would like to store: 123456789123456, the retrieve that exact same number with a select statement. table tbl (num real) insert into tbl(num) values('123456789123456'); As it is now, if I "select num from tbl" the result is "1.23457e+14" If I run "select CAST(num AS numeric) as num from tbl" the result is 123457000000000 If I run "select CAST(num AS float) as num from tbl" the result is 123456788103168 (where did this number come from) How on earth can I select the value and get "123456789123456" as the result? Thanks so much in advance

  • Code Golf: Triforce

    - by chpwn
    This is inspired by/taken from this thread: http://www.allegro.cc/forums/thread/603383 The Problem Assume the user gives you a numeric input ranging from 1 to 7. Input should be taken from the console, arguments are less desirable. When the input is 1, print the following: *********** ********* ******* ***** *** * Values greater than one should generate multiples of the pattern, ending with the one above, but stacked symmetrically. For example, 3 should print the following: *********** *********** *********** ********* ********* ********* ******* ******* ******* ***** ***** ***** *** *** *** * * * *********** *********** ********* ********* ******* ******* ***** ***** *** *** * * *********** ********* ******* ***** *** * Bonus points if you print the reverse as well. *********** *********** ********* ********* ******* ******* ***** ***** *** *** * * *********** ********* ******* ***** *** * * *** ***** ******* ********* *********** * * *** *** ***** ***** ******* ******* ********* ********* *********** *********** Can we try and keep it to one answer per language, that we all improve on?

  • Web Deployment Projects for VS2010 on build server failing with Error MSB4086

    - by SteveBering
    When I upgraded my Web Deployment Project from VS2008 to the VS2010 beta version, I was able to execute the build locally on my development box. However, when I tried to execute the build on our TeamCity build server, I began getting the following exception: C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WebDeployment\v10.0\Microsoft.WebDeployment.targets(162, 37): error MSB4086: A numeric comparison was attempted on "$(_SourceWebProjectPath.Length)" that evaluates to "" instead of a number, in condition "'$(_SourceWebProjectPath)' != '' And $(_SourceWebProjectPath.Length) >= 4)". I did install the Web Deployment Project addin on my build server and I did copy over the C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications directory on my development box to the C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\ directory on the build server. Note: My dev box is 64bit and the build server 32bit. I can't figure out why this is behaving differently on the build server than on my dev machine. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Steve

  • get rotation direction of UIView on touchesMoved

    - by mlecho
    this may sound funny, but i spent hours trying to recreate a knob with a realistic rotation using UIView and some trig. I achieved the goal, but now i can not figure out how to know if the knob is rotating left or right. The most pertinent part of the math is here: - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint pt = [touch locationInView:self]; float dx = pt.x - iv.center.x; float dy = pt.y - iv.center.y; float ang = atan2(dy,dx); //do the rotation if (deltaAngle == 0.0) { deltaAngle = ang; initialTransform = iv.transform; }else { float angleDif = deltaAngle - ang; CGAffineTransform newTrans = CGAffineTransformRotate(initialTransform, -angleDif); iv.transform = newTrans; currentValue = [self goodDegrees:radiansToDegrees(angleDif)]; } } ideally, i could leverage a numeric value to tell me if the rotation is positive or negative.

  • Performance of std::pow - cache misses???

    - by Eamon Nerbonne
    I've been trying to optimize a numeric program of mine, and have run into something of a mystery. I'm looping over code that performs thousands of floating point operations, and just 1 call to pow nevertheless, that call takes 5% of the time... That's not necessarily a critical issue, but it is odd, so I'd like to understand what's happening. When I profiled for cache misses, VS.NET 2010RC's profiler reports that virtually all cache misses are occurring in std::pow... so... what's up with that? Is there a faster alternative? I tried powf, but that's only slightly faster; it's still responsible for an abnormal number of cache misses. Why would a basic function like pow cause cache-misses?

  • Move a legend in ggplot2

    - by Dan Goldstein
    I'm trying to create a ggplot2 plot with the legend beneath the plot. The ggplot2 book says on p 112 "The position and justification of legends are controlled by the theme setting legend.position, and the value can be right, left, top, bottom, none (no legend), or a numeric position". The following code works (since "right" it is the default), and it also works with "none" as the legend position, but "left", "top", "bottom", all fail with "Error in grid.Call.graphics("L_setviewport", pvp, TRUE) : Non-finite location and/or size for viewport" library(ggplot2) (myDat <- data.frame(cbind(VarX=10:1, VarY=runif(10)), Descrip=sample(LETTERS[1:3], 10, replace=TRUE))) qplot(VarX,VarY, data=myDat, shape=Descrip) + opts(legend.position="right") What am I doing wrong? Re-positioning a legend must be incredibly common, so I figure it's me.

  • A control that contains multiple duplicate properties causing deadlock issues on IIS

    - by heads5150
    I am trying to work out if the above case is true for our site. I've been told by my hosting provider that this fix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974165) has to applied to our server due to performance issues. It basically describes an issues where UI code like: <asp:gridview id="GridView1" runat="server" ... PageSize="100" PagerSettings-Mode="Numeric" PagerStyle-BorderStyle="None" PagerStyle-BorderColor="Navy" PagerStyle-HorizontalAlign="Right" PagerSettings-PageButtonCount="2" PagerSettings-Position="Bottom"> <PagerStyle HorizontalAlign="Left" BorderColor="Navy" BorderStyle="None"></PagerStyle> ... <PagerSettings PageButtonCount="2"></PagerSettings> ... </asp:gridview> causing the following warning on the server "ISAPI 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll' reported itself as unhealthy for the following reason: 'Deadlock detected'." Does anybody know of a way that I can detect this issue in the build process or the debugger? Any help would be much appreciate.

  • Having problems with a mask in C#

    - by Nard Dog
    I guess this would be a DevExpress mask, but here is what I have: var dlEdit = new DevExpress.XtraEditors.Repository.RepositoryItemTextEdit(); dlEdit.Mask.MaskType = MaskType.RegEx; dlEdit.Mask.EditMask = "\\d{1,10}"; I'm trying to get a number that can be up to 10 digits in length that WILL accept leading 0's, as it is now it will show the leading 0's (ex. 0032421243) until the field is clicked off in which case it removes them. I tried a numeric masktype but same thing only it wouldn't let me enter the 0's to start with at all. I thought this would be my answer but this custom type isn't. Can someone point me in the right direction for what I need? Maybe a different type of mask or something?

  • Changing the message (or exception) in WPF ValidatesOnException binding

    - by Emad
    I have a WPF application using MVVM. I am using binding to a POCO object. The Textbox is bound to a property in the object like: <TextBox.Text> <Binding Path="CertainProperty" Mode="TwoWay" > <Binding.ValidationRules> <ExceptionValidationRule/> </Binding.ValidationRules> </Binding> </TextBox.Text> Now this property is a a int property and when the user tried to enter a non-numeric value, they get the "input string was not in a correct format". What I need to do is customize this message to a more user friendly one. How can I do that ?

  • Modify PHP Search Script to Handle Multiple Entries For a Single Input

    - by Thomas
    I need to modify a php search script so that it can handle multiple entries for a single field. The search engine is designed for a real estate website. The current search form allows users to search for houses by selecting a single neighborhood from a dropdown menu. Instead of a dropdown menu, I would like to use a list of checkboxes so that the the user can search for houses in multiple neighborhoods at one time. I have converted all of the dropdown menu items into checkboxes on the HTML side but the PHP script only searches for houses in the last checkbox selected. For example, if I selected: 'Dallas' 'Boston' 'New York' the search engine will only search for houses in New York. Im new to PHP, so I am a little at a loss as to how to modify this script to handle the behavior I have described: <?php require_once(dirname(__FILE__).'/extra_search_fields.php'); //Add Widget for configurable search. add_action('plugins_loaded',array('DB_CustomSearch_Widget','init')); • Keyboard for programmers

    - by Robert Höglund
    I'm trying to improve my working environment and I'm still searching for that perfect keyboard that practically types bug-free code all by itself. At the moment I'm using a Logitech Wave for my Windows need and an Apple Wireless Keyboard (the one without a numeric keypad) when doing OS X stuff. I'm quite happy with the Logitech Wave but I would prefer one without all the extra multimedia buttons. What I like most about the Apple Wireless Keyboard is that it is very similar to the Macbook's keyboard which for me makes it easier to write code when on my Macbook. What kind of keyboard would you recommend for going all out writing code until your fingers bleed? I have remapped the Caps Lock key to Ctrl which after a while feels really good, until I have to sit at another computer or when someone at work is going to show me something on my computer. Are there other little keyboard tricks that you use to get a little bit more productive? I have looked into switching to Dvorak but I have decided it's not for me.

  • How to move or position a legend in ggplot2

  • Microsoft SQL 2005 - using the modulo operator

    - by cc0
    So I have a silly problem, I have not used much MSSQL before, or any SQL for that matter. I basically have a minor mathematical problem that I need solved, and I thought modulo would be good. I have a number of dates in the database, but I need them be rounded off to the closest [dynamic integer] (could be anything from 0 to 5000000) which will be input as a parameter each time this query is called. So I thought I'd use modulo to find the remainder, then subtract that remainder from the date. If there is a better way, or an integrated function, please let me know! What would be the syntax for that? I've tried a lot of things, but I keep getting error messages like integers/floats/decimals can't be used with the modulo operators. I tried casting to all kinds of numeric datatypes. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Replace text in folder names

    - by dannyb
    How can I replace the same text in folder names in linux? Say I have "Photos_Jun", "Photos_July", "Photos_Aug", etc. whats the simplest way I can rename them like "Photos Jun", "Photos July", etc (basically I want to replace the underscore with a space " ". I have about 200 of these folders. I was looking at solution: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1836563/how-can-i-easily-bulk-rename-files-with-perl It looks like what im looking for however, I dont know how to make a regular expression to match folders that are alphanumeric followed by a "_". All files have non-numeric names, so I think [a-zA-Z] is the right way to start. perl -e 'foreach $f (glob("File\\ Name*")) { $nf = $f; $nf =~ s/(\d+)$/sprintf("%03d",$1)/e; print `mv \"$f\" \"$nf\"`;}' Thanks for any help!

  • One template specialization for multiple classes

    - by peper0
    Let's assume we have a template function "foo": template<class T> void foo(T arg) { ... } I can make specialization for some particular type, e.g. template<> void foo(int arg) { ... } If I wanted to use the same specialization for all builtin numeric types (int, float, double etc.) I would write those lines many times. I know that body can be thrown out to another function and just call of this is to be made in every specialization's body, however it would be nicer if i could avoid writting this "void foo(..." for every type. Is there any possibility to tell the compiler that I want to use this specialization for all this types?
