  • Autoconf (newbie) -- building with static library

    - by EB
    I am trying to migrate from manual build to autoconf, which is working very nicely so far. But I have one static library that I can't figure out how to integrate. That library will NOT be located in the usual library locations - the location of the binary (.a file) and header (.h file) will be given as a configure argument. (Notably, even if I move the .a file to /usr/lib or anywhere else I can think of, it still won't work.) Manual compilation is working with these: gcc ... -I/path/to/header/file/directory /full/path/to/the/.a/file/itself (Uh, I actually don't understand why the .a file is referenced directly, not with -L or anything. Yes, I have a half-baked understanding of building C programs.) I can use the configure argument to successfully find the header (.h file) using AC_CHECK_HEADER. Inside the AC_CHECK_HEADER I then add the location to CPFLAGS and the #include of the header file in the actual C code picks it up nicely. Given a configure argument that has been put into $location and the name of the needed files are myprog.h and myprog.a (which are both in the same directory), here is what works so far: AC_CHECK_HEADER([$location/myprog.h], [AC_DEFINE([HAVE_MYPROG_H], [1], [found myprog.h]) CFLAGS="$CFLAGS -I$location"]) Where I run into difficulties is getting the binary (.a file) linked in. No matter what I try, I always get an error about undefined references to the function calls for that library. I'm pretty sure it's a linkage issue, because I can fuss with the C code and make an intentional error in the function calls to that library which produces earlier errors that indicate that the function prototypes have been loaded and used to compile. I tried adding the location that contains the .a file to LDFLAGS and then doing a AC_CHECK_LIB but it is not found. Maybe my syntax is wrong, or maybe I'm missing something more fundamental, which would not be surprising since I'm a newbie and don't really know what I'm doing. Here is what I have tried: AC_CHECK_HEADER([$location/myprog.h], [AC_DEFINE([HAVE_MYPROG_H], [1], [found myprog.h]) CFLAGS="$CFLAGS -I$location"; LDFLAGS="$LDFLAGS -L$location"; AC_CHECK_LIB(myprog)]) No dice. AC_CHECK_LIB is looking for -lmyprog I guess (or libmyprog?) so I'm not sure if that's a problem, so I tried this, too (omit AC_CHECK_LIB and include the .a directly in LDFLAGS), without luck: AC_CHECK_HEADER([$location/myprog.h], [AC_DEFINE([HAVE_MYPROG_H], [1], [found myprog.h]) CFLAGS="$CFLAGS -I$location"; LDFLAGS="$LDFLAGS -L$location/myprog.a"]) To emulate the manual compilation, I tried removing the -L but that doesn't help: AC_CHECK_HEADER([$location/myprog.h], [AC_DEFINE([HAVE_MYPROG_H], [1], [found myprog.h]) CFLAGS="$CFLAGS -I$location"; LDFLAGS="$LDFLAGS $location/myprog.a"]) I tried other combinations and permutations, but I think I might be missing something more fundamental....

  • Hosting a WCF Service Lib through a Windows service get a System.InvalidOperationException: attempti

    - by JohnL
    I have a WCF Service Library containing five service contracts. The library is hosted through a Windows Service. Most if not all my configuration for the WCF Library is declaritive. The only thing I am doing in code for configuration is to pass the type of the class implementing the service contracts into ServiceHost. I then call Open on each of the services during the Windows Service OnStart event. Here is the error message I get: Service cannot be started. System.InvalidOperationException: Service '[Fubu.Conversion.Service1' has zero application (non-infrastructure) endpoints. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no service element matching the service name could be found in the configuration file, or because no endpoints were defined in the service element. at System.ServiceModel.Description.DispatcherBuilder.EnsureThereAreNonMexEndpoints(ServiceDescription description) at System.ServiceModel.Description.DispatcherBuilder.InitializeServiceHost(ServiceDescription description, ServiceHostBase serviceHost) at System.ServiceModel.ServiceHostBase.InitializeRuntime() at System.ServiceModel.ServiceHostBase.OnBeginOpen() at System.ServiceModel.ServiceHostBase.OnOpen(TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.CommunicationObject.Open(TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.CommunicationObject.Open() at Fubu.RemotingHost.RemotingHost.StartServ... protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { // Uncomment to debug this properly //System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Break(); StartService1(); StartService2(); StartService3(); StartService4(); StartService5(); } Each of the above simply do the following: private void StartSecurityService() { host = new ServiceHost(typeof(Service1)); host.Open(); } Service Lib app.congfig summary <services> <service behaviorConfiguration="DefaultServiceBehavior" name="Fubu.Conversion.Service1"> <endpoint address="" binding="netTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="TCPBindingConfig" name="Service1" bindingName="TCPEndPoint" contract="Fubu.Conversion.IService1"> <identity> <dns value="localhost" /> </identity> </endpoint> <endpoint address="mex" binding="mexTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="" name="mexSecurity" bindingName="TcpMetaData" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="net.tcp://localhost:8025/Fubu/Conversion/Service1/" /> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> ... • WPF Bind User Control Coordinates

    - by morsanu
    Another beginner WPF question from me :) Ok, so I have a User Control added to a Canvas. In another area of the application I have two TextBoxes that will get 2 values : X and Y. I need a two-way binding between the user control's top left corner coordinates and those 2 textboxes. I don't mind implementing a Converter or doing some calculations, but I need a push in the right direction from a more experienced WPF developer.

  • nSticky/static variable references in for loops

    - by pthulin
    In this example I create three buttons 'one' 'two' 'three'. When clicked I want them to alert their number: <html> <head> <script type="application/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numbers = ['one', 'two', 'three']; for (i in numbers) { var nr = numbers[i]; var li = $('<li>' + nr + '</li>'); li.click(function() { var newVariable = String(nr); alert(i); // 2 alert(nr); // three alert(newVariable); // three alert(li.html()); // three }); $('ul').append(li); } }); </script> </head> <body> <ul> </ul> </body> </html> The problem is, when any of these are clicked, the last value of the loop's variables is used, i.e. alert box always says 'three'. In JavaScript, variables inside for-loops seem to be 'static' in the C language sense. Is there some way to create separate variables for each click function, i.e. not using the same reference? Thanks! Edit: The solution is to use jQuery.data to associate arbitrary data with each element: <html> <head> <script type="application/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numbers = ['one', 'two', 'three']; for (i in numbers) { var nr = numbers[i]; var li = $('<li>' + nr + '</li>'); li.data('nr', nr); li.click(function() { alert($(this).data('nr')); }); $('ul').append(li); } }); </script> </head> <body> <ul> </ul> </body> </html>

  • Bound DataGridView not updating data source

    - by Max Yaffe
    I'm trying to bind a table of structures to a DataGridView. Loading and viewing the table is working fine but I can't edit a value and get it stored back into the table. Here's what I'm doing. I have a "primitive" data type, Real defined by public struct MyReal:IMyPrimative { public Double m_Real; //... public MyReal(String val) { m_Real = default(Double); Init(val); } //... } It gets used in a structure: public struct MyReal_Record : IMyRecord { public MyReal Freq { get; set;} MyReal_Record(String[] vals) { Init(vals); } } And the structure is used to define a table using a generic Binding List public class MyTable<S> : BindingList<S> where S: struct, IMyRecord { public Type typeofS; public MyTable() { typeofS = typeof(S); // ... } This table is used as a binding source for a grid, dynamically. private void miLoadFile_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { MyModel.Table<Real_Record> RTable = new MyModel.Table<Real_Record>(); //... Table initialized here //set up grid with virtual mode dataGridView1.DataSource = RTable; } All of this works fine and I can create RTable, initialize it and display it in a grid. The grid allows editing and has events set for CellParsing and CellFormatting which look like: private void dataGridView1_CellFormatting(object sender, DataGridViewCellFormattingEventArgs e) { if (e.DesiredType != typeof(String)) return; e.Value = e.Value.ToString(); } private void dataGridView1_CellParsing(object sender, DataGridViewCellParsingEventArgs e) { if (e.DesiredType != typeof(MyReal)) return; e.Value = new MyReal(e.Value.ToString()); e.ParsingApplied = true; this.dataGridView1.UpdateCellValue(e.ColumnIndex, e.RowIndex); } When I edit a value in a cell, I can change the text. On leaving the cell, CellParsing fires and the event handler is called. Everything seems to be correct going into the CellParsing handler. e.DesiredType is MyReal. e.Value is a string with the new value. After the new MyReal is created from the string, e.Value is set correctly. RowIndex and ColumnIndex are correct. ReadOnly is set false. However, when I leave the cell, the system restores the original value to the cell. I thought the UpdateCellValue would replace the value in the dataSource but I seem to be missing something. What did I miss? Thanks, Max

  • Autoconf -- including a static library (newbie)

  • How to refresh xmlDataProvider when xml document changes at runtime in WPF?

    - by Kajsa
    I am trying to make a image viewer/album creator in visual studio, wpf. The image paths for each album is stored in an xml document which i bind to to show the images from each album in a listbox. The problem is when i add a image or an album at runtime and write it to the xml document. I can't seem to make the bindings to the xml document update so they show the new images and albums aswell. Calling Refresh() on the XmlDataProvider doesn't change anything. I don't wish to redo the binding of the XmlDataProvider, just make it read from the same source again. XAML: ... <Grid.DataContext> <XmlDataProvider x:Name="Images" Source="Data/images.xml" XPath="/albums/album[@name='no album']/image" /> </Grid.DataContext> ... <Label Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" HorizontalAlignment="Right" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Padding="0" Margin="0,0,0,5" Content="{x:Static resx:Resource.AddImageLabel}"/> <TextBox Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Name="newImagePath" Margin="0" /> <Button Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="2" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Name="newImagePathButton" Content="{x:Static resx:Resource.BrowseImageButton}" Click="newImagePathButton_Click" /> ... <ListBox Grid.Column="0" Grid.ColumnSpan="4" Grid.Row="3" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" Name="thumbnailList" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="True" ItemsSource="{Binding BindingGroupName=Images}" SelectedIndex="0" Background="#FFE0E0E0" Height="110"> ... • How to add Items to GridView in C# Windows Store App (Win8)

    To keep things simple let's just say I have a c# Windows Store Project for Windows 8 that has the following items: GridView (PlatformsGrid) List«PlatformSearchResult» (allPlatforms) DataTemplate (PlatformDataTemplate) in standardstyles.xaml allPlatforms is a collection of "PlatformSearchResult"objects populated from an online API, and has the following 3 properties: ID Name Alias I am able to add a new item to the gridview for each object that exists in my allPlatforms collection, however the items are blank and do not show the data from my objects. • wpf how to bind a listbox to a list (two ways) - c#

    - by user429400
    Hi, I want to create a 2 way bind between a listbox and a .NET list. In my GUI, I have a listbox, a textbox and add and remove buttons. The listbox displays cars, and my goal is to create a 2way bind between the .Net car list and the listbox: when the user enters a car into the textbox, it gets updated only in the .Net list, and the listbox is updated automatically. When the user press the GUI "remove" button, a car gets removed from the GUI and the .Net list is updated automatically. I've started to write the xaml code, but figured that I don't actually know how to do the binding on both sides (c# and xaml): <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:c="clr-namespace:WpfApplication1" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="369" Loaded="Window_Loaded"> <Window.Resources> <ObjectDataProvider x:Key="carsData" ObjectType="{x:Type c:Window1}" /> </Window.Resources> <Grid Width="332"> <ListBox Margin="10,62,0,100" Name="myListBox" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="120" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource CarsData}}"/> <Button Height="23" Margin="66,0,0,65" Name="addBtn" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Click="addBtn_Click" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="64">add</Button> <TextBox Margin="10,0,0,64.48" Name="myTextBox" Height="23" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="47" /> <Button Height="23" Margin="66,0,0,33" Name="removeButton" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="64" Click="removeButton_Click">Remove</Button> </Grid> </Window> There is my c# code: namespace WpfApplication1 { public partial class Window1 : Window { MyModel listMgr; ObservableCollection carList; public Window1() { InitializeComponent(); listMgr = new MyModel(); } private void addBtn_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { listMgr.add(new Car(0, myTextBox.Text, 2011)); } private void removeButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { //myListBox.Items.RemoveAt(0); } private void Window_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { carList = listMgr.getList(); myListBox.DataContext = carList; //secondListBox.DataContext = carList; } } } Thanks, Li

  • Java: implementation of simple commands

    I have created a pkg for my regular simple commands. They are non-static, to be more extensible, but somewhat more time-consuming to use because of creating object to use one. My other classes use them. $ ls *.java CpF.java IsBinary.java RmLn.java Tools.java F2S.java IsRoot.java SaveToDisk.java WordCount.java Filters.java ModRelativePaths.java SetWord.java WordNumber.java Find.java powerTools.java Sort.java Which option would you choose to use them easier? to develop a small interface like 'powerTools.java' for the pkg. to create a class with static methods for them. to add a static method to each class to stop overusing 'creating too many files' and centralising some? sthing else?

  • Are there any C++ tools that detect misuse of static_cast, dynamic_cast, and reinterpret_cast?

    - by chrisp451
    The answers to the following question describe the recommended usage of static_cast, dynamic_cast, and reinterpret_cast in C++: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/332030/when-should-static-cast-dynamic-cast-and-reinterpret-cast-be-used Do you know of any tools that can be used to detect misuse of these kinds of cast? Would a static analysis tool like PC-Lint or Coverity Static Analysis do this? The particular case that prompted this question was the inappropriate use of static_cast to downcast a pointer, which the compiler does not warn about. I'd like to detect this case using a tool, and not assume that developers will never make this mistake.
