  • UML Class Diagram for User Login

    - by 01010011
    Hi, The diagram below is my very first attempt at creating a UML class diagram describing a user login into a website. I'm sure its a poor design and full of flaws, but I'm hoping to learn from you guys how you would design a simple login like this. I'm particularly interested in your use of design patterns and which patterns you would use, how you would implement it in the design, and why. Any advise, criticisms, comments and suggestions will be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Help with a compiler warning: Initialization from distinct Objective-C type when types match

    - by Alex Gosselin
    Here is the function where I get the compiler warning, I can't seem to figure out what is causing it. Any help is appreciated. -(void)displaySelector{ //warning on the following line: InstanceSelectorViewController *controller = [[InstanceSelectorViewController alloc] initWithCreator:self]; [self.navController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; } Interface and implementation for the initWithCreator: method -(InstanceSelectorViewController*)initWithCreator:(InstanceCreator*)creator; -(InstanceSelectorViewController*)initWithCreator:(InstanceCreator*)crt{ if (self = [self initWithNibName:@"InstanceSelectorViewController" bundle:nil]) { creator = crt; } return self; }

  • C# How to add an entry to LDAP with multiple object classes

    - by Jarmo
    I'm trying to create a new user record into OpenLDAP with object classes person and uidObject. The problem seems to be that with System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry I've found only a way to add a new entry with one object class, but not a way to add multiple object classes. This C# code DirectoryEntry nRoot = new DirectoryEntry(path); nRoot.AuthenticationType = AuthenticationTypes.None; nRoot.Username = username; nRoot.Password = pwd; try { DirectoryEntry newUser = nRoot.Children.Add("CN=" + "test", "person"); newUser.Properties["cn"].Add("test"); newUser.Properties["sn"].Add("test"); newUser.Properties["objectClass"].Add("uidObject"); // this doesnt't make a difference newUser.Properties["uid"].Add("testlogin"); // this causes trouble newUser.CommitChanges(); } catch (COMException ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex.ErrorCode + "\t" + ex.Message); } ...results in error: -2147016684 The requested operation did not satisfy one or more constraints associated with the class of the object. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80072014)

  • Reattaching an object graph to an EntityContext: "cannot track multiple objects with the same key"

    - by dkr88
    Can EF really be this bad? Maybe... Let's say I have a fully loaded, disconnected object graph that looks like this: myReport = {Report} {ReportEdit {User: "JohnDoe"}} {ReportEdit {User: "JohnDoe"}} Basically a report with 2 edits that were done by the same user. And then I do this: EntityContext.Attach(myReport); InvalidOperationException: An object with the same key already exists in the ObjectStateManager. The ObjectStateManager cannot track multiple objects with the same key. Why? Because the EF is trying to attach the {User: "JohnDoe"} entity TWICE. This will work: myReport = {Report} {ReportEdit {User: "JohnDoe"}} EntityContext.Attach(myReport); No problems here because the {User: "JohnDoe"} entity only appears in the object graph once. What's more, since you can't control how the EF attaches an entity, there is no way to stop it from attaching the entire object graph. So really if you want to reattach a complex entity that contains more than one reference to the same entity... well, good luck. At least that's how it looks to me. Any comments? UPDATE: Added sample code: // Load the report Report theReport; using (var context1 = new TestEntities()) { context1.Reports.MergeOption = MergeOption.NoTracking; theReport = (from r in context1.Reports.Include("ReportEdits.User") where r.Id == reportId select r).First(); } // theReport looks like this: // {Report[Id=1]} // {ReportEdit[Id=1] {User[Id=1,Name="John Doe"]} // {ReportEdit[Id=2] {User[Id=1,Name="John Doe"]} // Try to re-attach the report object graph using (var context2 = new TestEntities()) { context2.Attach(theReport); // InvalidOperationException }

  • How to delete child object in NHibernate?

    - by Mark Struzinski
    I have a parent object which has a one to many relationship with an IList of child objects. What is the best way to delete the child objects? I am not deleting the parent. My parent object contains an IList of child objects. Here is the mapping for the one to many relationship: <bag name="Tiers" cascade="all"> <key column="mismatch_id_no" /> <one-to-many class="TGR_BL.PromoTier,TGR_BL"/> </bag> If I try to remove all objects from the collection using clear(), then call SaveOrUpdate(), I get this exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot insert the value NULL into column If I try to delete the child objects individually then remove them from the parent, I get an exception: deleted object would be re-saved by cascade This is my first time dealing with deleting child objects in NHibernate. What am I doing wrong? edit: Just to clarify - I'm NOT trying to delete the parent object, just the child objects. I have the relationship set up as a one to many on the parent. Do I also need to create a many-to-one relationship on the child object mapping?

  • What topic in computer science is this?

    - by jasonbogd
    Hi, I am trying to figure out what 'topic' this is called, so I can learn more about it. Basically, I'm talking about designing my applications's architecture. I'm not talking about algorithms. More like -- this class should have these methods and these instance variables, and communicate with this class in this way, this class should have these responsibilities etc. Can anybody tell me what the name of this topic is called and how I can get better at doing this? Thanks.

    I was just asked to talk about Objective C to a bunch of High School student for 20 minutes. They have no experience with programming at all. What topics should I cover? Should I define vocab such as Method, Class, Variable? Or should I do something else? Any comments are helpful!

  • JS onclick triggers wrong object

    - by Clemens Prerovsky
    Hi guys, what I'm trying to do here is to associate a DOM object with an instance of a JS object, which will provide some meaningfol methods later on ;) At this point I just want to handle my JS object the click event, whilst keeping it's references intact. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" /> <title>Insert title here</title> <script type="text/javascript"> // my object, which will hold a reference to a single DOM object obj = function(domobj) { this.o = domobj; my = this; var ref = my.click; this.o.onclick = ref; } // my objects click function obj.prototype.click = function() { alert(my.o.innerHTML); } // create objects with references $(document).ready(function() { o1 = new obj(document.getElementById('b1')); o2 = new obj(document.getElementById('b2')); }); </script> </head> <body> <button id="b1">button 1</button> <button id="b2">button 2</button> </body> </html> Expected result: when clicking on button 1, the text "button 1" should be alerted. Current result: when clicking button 1, the text "button 2" is alerted. What I found out so far is that the wrong instance of obj is triggered from the click event, even though o1 and o2 maintain correct references to their corresponding DOM object. Any ideas how to solve this? Thanks for your help! Best regards, Clemens

  • Fluent interface design and code smell

    - by Jiho Han
    public class StepClause { public NamedStepClause Action1() {} public NamedStepClause Action2() {} } public class NamedStepClause : StepClause { public StepClause Step(string name) {} } Basically, I want to be able to do something like this: var workflow = new Workflow().Configure() .Action1() .Step("abc").Action2() .Action2() .Step("def").Action1(); So, some "steps" are named and some are not. The thing I do not like is that the StepClause has knowledge of its derived class NamedStepClause. I tried a couple of things to make this sit better with me. I tried to move things out to interfaces but then the problem just moved from the concrete to the interfaces - INamedStepClause still need to derive from IStepClause and IStepClause needs to return INamedStepClause to be able to call Step(). I could also make Step() part of a completely separate type. Then we do not have this problem and we'd have: var workflow = new Workflow().Configure() .Step().Action1() .Step("abc").Action2() .Step().Action2() .Step("def").Action1(); Which is ok but I'd like to make the step-naming optional if possible. I found this other post on SO here which looks interesting and promising. What are your opinions? I'd think the original solution is completely unacceptable or is it? By the way, those action methods will take predicates and functors and I don't think I want to take an additional parameter for naming the step there. The point of it all is, for me, is to only define these action methods in one place and one place only. So the solutions from the referenced link using generics and extension methods seem to be the best approaches so far.

  • Derived class linker - is this wrong?

    - by bobobobo
    We have this situation: A B ^ ^ | / C so class A { } class B { } class C : public A, public B { } Now, B wants to access a property in C. How do you do this? The solution I came up with is to place a pointer in B to an instance of C, which is only active (not null) if this B is in fact a C.

  • Making the domain-model of tic tac toe

    - by devoured elysium
    I am trying to make the domain model of a Tic Tac Toe game. I'll try then to go on through the various steps of the Unified Process and later implement it in some language (C# or Java). I'd like to have some feedback if I'm going on the right path: I've defined the game with two actors, Player O and Player X. I'm not sure about defining both a Tile and a Tile State. Maybe I should only define a Tile and have the 3 possible states specialize from it? I'm not sure what is best: to have both Player O and Player X be associations with Tic Tac Toe or have them inherit from Player that is associated with Tic Tac Toe. Following the design shown on the pic, in theory we could have a Tic Tac Toe concept with 2 Player O's, which wouldn't be correct. What is your opinion on this? Also, am I missing something in the diagram? Although I can't see any other actors for Tic Tac Toe, should I have any other? Thanks

  • C# Lack of Static Inheritance - What Should I Do?

    - by yellowblood
    Alright, so as you probably know, static inheritance is impossible in C#. I understand that, however I'm stuck with the development of my program. I will try to make it as simple as possible. Lets say our code needs to manage objects that are presenting aircrafts in some airport. The requirements are as follows: There are members and methods that are shared for all aircrafts There are many types of aircrafts, each type may have its own extra methods and members. There can be many instances for each aircraft type. Every aircraft type must have a friendly name for this type, and more details about this type. For example a class named F16 will have a static member FriendlyName with the value of "Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon". Other programmers should be able to add more aircrafts, although they must be enforced to create the same static details about the types of the aircrafts. In some GUI, there should be a way to let the user see the list of available types (with the details such as FriendlyName) and add or remove instances of the aircrafts, saved, lets say, to some XML file. So, basically, if I could enforce inherited classes to implement static members and methods, I would enforce the aircraft types to have static members such as FriendlyName. Sadly I cannot do that. So, what would be the best design for this scenario?

  • .net activeX object

    - by Ali YILDIRIM
    Hi, I am trying to use my .net image editor user control as an activeX object in a web form. After internet search, I created a asp.net web site from VS2008 and added the following code <object classid="res/ImageEditor.dll#ImageEditor.Editor" height="400" width="400" id="myControl1" name="myControl1" > </object> <INPUT id="Button1" type="button" value="Btn" name="Btn" onclick="return Button1_onclick()"> </script> <script language=javascript> function Button1_onclick() { alert(document.getElementById("myControl1").WatermarkText); } </script> I have two problems 1-) When i first create the project i see the user control on browser but, after rebuilding the user control and changing the dll file at web site, the object no more appears on browser. Instead i see something like an error image. 2-) i can not access public properties. The user control is marked as "make com visible", and register for com is checked at properties.

  • How to select one object from a NSArray?

    - by 0SX
    First of all Merry Christmas to everyone!!! Currently I have a NSArray that has parsed content in it. When I do a NSLog of the array it prints out 20 objects with the parsed content that I needed. Like so: 2010-12-24 20:27:32.170 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent 2010-12-24 20:27:32.172 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent1 2010-12-24 20:27:32.172 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent2 2010-12-24 20:27:32.173 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent3 2010-12-24 20:27:32.173 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent4 2010-12-24 20:27:32.173 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent5 2010-12-24 20:27:32.174 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent6 2010-12-24 20:27:32.175 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent7 2010-12-24 20:27:32.176 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent8 2010-12-24 20:27:32.176 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent9 2010-12-24 20:27:32.177 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent10 2010-12-24 20:27:32.177 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent11 2010-12-24 20:27:32.177 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent12 2010-12-24 20:27:32.179 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent13 2010-12-24 20:27:32.179 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent14 2010-12-24 20:27:32.180 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent15 2010-12-24 20:27:32.180 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent16 2010-12-24 20:27:32.181 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent17 2010-12-24 20:27:32.181 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent18 2010-12-24 20:27:32.190 TestProject[48914:298] SomeContent19 However, I don't need every object at once. I need to be able to pick out one object at a time so I can put each object into a string of it's own. If anyone knows a easier way to do this then what I'm trying to please let me know. Anyways, I need to be able to choose just one object depending on what object I need. For example, let's say I only need object #5 and not all the array, how can this be done so I can put it into a string? I'm thinking I might have to use the index feature but I'm not sure how to set it up properly. Here is my NSArray that I'm working with: NSArray* myArray = [document selectElements: @"div.someContent"]; NSMutableArray* results = [NSMutableArray array]; for (Element* element in myArray){ NSString* snipet = [element contentsSource]; [results addObject: snipet]; NSLog(@"%@", snipet); } NSLog(@"%i",myArray.count); I've already spent several hours trying to achieve this but my knowledge with array's is limited even with me reading the documentation. :-( Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

  • Parametrized Strategy Pattern

    - by ott
    I have several Java classes which implement the strategy pattern. Each class has variable number parameters of different types: interface Strategy { public data execute(data); } class StrategyA implements Strategy { public data execute(data); } class StrategyB implements Strategy { public StrategyB(int paramA, int paramB); public data execute(data); } class StrategyB implements Strategy { public StrategyB(int paramA, String paramB, double paramC); public data execute(data); } Now I want that the user can enter the parameters in some kind of UI. The UI should be chosen at runtime, i.e. the strategies should be independent of it. The parameter dialog should not be monolithic and there should be the possibility to make it behave and look different for each strategy and UI (e.g. console or Swing). How would you solve this problem?

  • .NET: Serializing object to a file from a 3rd party assembly

    - by MacGyver
    Below is a link that describes how to serialize an object. But it requires you implement from ISerializable for the object you are serializing. What I'd like to do is serialize an object that I did not define--an object based on a class in a 3rd party assembly (from a project reference) that is not implementing ISerializable. Is that possible? How can this be done? http://www.switchonthecode.com/tutorials/csharp-tutorial-serialize-objects-to-a-file Property (IWebDriver = interface type): private IWebDriver driver; Object Instance (FireFoxDriver is a class type): driver = new FirefoxDriver(firefoxProfile); ================ 3/21/2012 update after answer posted Why would this throw an error? It doesn't like this line: serializedObject.DriverInstance = (FirefoxDriver)driver; ... Error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'OpenQA.Selenium.IWebDriver' to 'OpenQA.Selenium.Firefox.FirefoxDriver'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) Here is the code: FirefoxDriverSerialized serializedObject = new FirefoxDriverSerialized(); Serializer serializer = new Serializer(); serializedObject = serializer.DeSerializeObject(@"C:\firefoxDriver.qa"); driver = serializedObject.DriverInstance; if (driver == null) { driver = new FirefoxDriver(firefoxProfile); serializedObject.DriverInstance = (FirefoxDriverSerialized)driver; serializer.SerializeObject(@"C:\firefoxDriver.qa", serializedObject); } Here are the two Serializer classes I built: public class Serializer { public Serializer() { } public void SerializeObject(string filename, FirefoxDriverSerialized objectToSerialize) { Stream stream = File.Open(filename, FileMode.Create); BinaryFormatter bFormatter = new BinaryFormatter(); bFormatter.Serialize(stream, objectToSerialize); stream.Close(); } public FirefoxDriverSerialized DeSerializeObject(string filename) { FirefoxDriverSerialized objectToSerialize; Stream stream = File.Open(filename, FileMode.Open); BinaryFormatter bFormatter = new BinaryFormatter(); objectToSerialize = (FirefoxDriverSerialized)bFormatter.Deserialize(stream); stream.Close(); return objectToSerialize; } } [Serializable()] public class FirefoxDriverSerialized : FirefoxDriver, ISerializable { private FirefoxDriver driverInstance; public FirefoxDriver DriverInstance { get { return this.driverInstance; } set { this.driverInstance = value; } } public FirefoxDriverSerialized() { } public FirefoxDriverSerialized(SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext ctxt) { this.driverInstance = (FirefoxDriver)info.GetValue("DriverInstance", typeof(FirefoxDriver)); } public void GetObjectData(SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext ctxt) { info.AddValue("DriverInstance", this.driverInstance); } } ================= 3/23/2012 update #2 - fixed serialization/de-serialization, but having another issue (might be relevant for new question) This fixed the calling code. Because we're deleting the *.qa file when we call the WebDriver.Quit() because that's when we chose to close the browser. This will kill off our cached driver as well. So if we start with a new browser window, we'll hit the catch block and create a new instance and save it to our *.qa file (in the serialized form). FirefoxDriverSerialized serializedObject = new FirefoxDriverSerialized(); Serializer serializer = new Serializer(); try { serializedObject = serializer.DeSerializeObject(@"C:\firefoxDriver.qa"); driver = serializedObject.DriverInstance; } catch { driver = new FirefoxDriver(firefoxProfile); serializedObject = new FirefoxDriverSerialized(); serializedObject.DriverInstance = (FirefoxDriver)driver; serializer.SerializeObject(@"C:\firefoxDriver.qa", serializedObject); } However, still getting this exception: Acu.QA.Main.Test_0055_GiftCertificate_UserCheckout: SetUp : System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException : Type 'OpenQA.Selenium.Firefox.FirefoxDriver' in Assembly 'WebDriver, Version=2.16.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=1c2bd1631853048f' is not marked as serializable. TearDown : System.NullReferenceException : Object reference not set to an instance of an object. The 3rd line in this code block is throwing the exception: public void SerializeObject(string filename, FirefoxDriverSerialized objectToSerialize) { Stream stream = File.Open(filename, FileMode.Create); BinaryFormatter bFormatter = new BinaryFormatter(); bFormatter.Serialize(stream, objectToSerialize); // <=== this line stream.Close(); }

  • How does Garbage Collection in Java work?

    - by Bright010957
    I was wondering how the garbage collector in Java deals with the following situation. Object A has a reference to Object B and Object B has a reference to Object C. The main program has a reference to Object A. So you can use Object B trough Object A, and Object C trough Object B trough Object A. What happens to Object B and Object C, if the link between Object A and Object B is set to null? Should Object B and Object C now been collected by the Garbage Collector? I mean there is still a connection between Object B and Object C.
