    I need to be able to achieve the following (one way or another): function ShowContent() {} document.onShowContent = function () { // anything I want to happen.... } What I'm trying to do is to add a kind of listener to me Advertisement code on the page that will auto refresh the ad slot when a specific function is called. Instead of having that function "ShowContent()" directly refresh the ad code, I want the ad code to refresh if it detects that "ShowContent()" has been called. Thanks.

    I'm generating iCalendar events using PHP. They pass the validation checkers but won't add to Google Calendar or iCalendar. Help - what am I doing wrong?     **I'm currently using a jquery textselect plugin to fire alerts based on the selection text anywhere on the page and it works just fine doing something like: $(document).ready(function() { $(document).bind('textselect', function(e) { alert(e.text); }); }); I've since had to add an iframe to the page and I need the text selection to work on text within the iframe as well. I'm trying to do something like this but it's not working: $(document).ready(function() { $('#iframeId').load(function() { $(document.getElementById("iframeId").contentWindow).bind('textselect',function(e) { alert(e.text); }); }); At this point I've tried a whole mess of ways to reference the iframe document without any success.     Hi guys, searching for this has yielded no resuts.. i have a middle page that has an iframe and all the pages open in that iframe...i have to implement a chat system just like in Google and so to ensure that the chat windows did not close whwn the page would postback i am opening all pages in iframe.... this is a social networking site and user can have themes which have background images per theme now when i visit a friends profile the backgrounf image of the middle page should change... i have this code to find parent of iframe and change background image $(document).ready(function(){ var theme=document.getElementById("ctl00_decideFooterH").value; var t= parent.document.getElementsByTagName("body"); if(theme=='basicTheme'){ t[0].className="basic"; } else if(theme=='Tranquility') { t[0].className="Tranquility"; } else if(theme=='AbstractPink') { t[0].className="abstractPink"; } }); and this code is the master page that all child pages that would open in iframe would access..the trouble is that there is a lag between the theme application on server side(which happens at PreInit) and the background image change which is done by this document.ready that gets executed after the iframe has loaded.. so essentially i need a javascript function that would either execute parallel to PreInit or some other logic....so guys plz help its urgent

    I'm trying to build my first cocoa application. done some iPhone developing before. I have a hard time understanding how to layout my project. i making a Pong game and my current design is to allocate an NSWindowController from my appDelegate. I then use custom view to act as paddles and ball. My problem is that i can't get the window controller to capture key events. Am i thinking wrong here? My idea is to have a controller class with all the logic, should i subclass another class for that?

  • jQuery click event to make a div slide down and push next div out of viewport

    I'm trying to figure out how to make jQuery slide #content2 down and replace content1 with it while making it look like #content1 is actually being pushed down by #content1 removing it from view... Then the same button that was clicked to make #content2 replace #content1 would also need to do the reverse effect by replacing #content2 with #content1 making them slide up and push each other out of the way...   • jQuery e.target bubbling best practice ?

    In my heavy-ajax code, i always bind "click" the body tag & act depending on $(e.target) & using $.fn.hasClass(). However when i click on an anchor that has a </span> tag inside, my $(e.target) equals this node, and not the parent anchor as i would like it to. From now on, i have used this trick (var $t = $(e.target);) : /** bubbling **/ if($t.get(0).tagName !== "A" && $t.get(0).tagName !== "AREA") { $t = $t.parent("a"); if(empty($t)) return true; //else console.log("$t.bubble()", $t); } It feels wrong somehow... Do you have any better implementation ? $.fn.live() does not solve my issue as it still returns the span as the target. Moreover i'm looking for speed (running on atom-based touch devices) & live appeared to be way slower (twice) : http://jsperf.com/bind-vs-click/3 In fact, as @Guffa pointed, using $.fn.live() solves the span bubbling issue as i don't need the event.target anymore. I guess there is no other "right" answer here (using bind).

    Hi, I want to attach a function to a jQuery element that fires whenever the element is added to the page. I've tried the following, but it didn't work: var el = jQuery('<h1>HI HI HI</H1>'); el.one('load', function(e) { window.alert('loaded'); }); jQuery('body').append(el); What I really want to do is to guarantee that another jQuery function that is expecting some #id to be at the page don't fail, so I want to call that function whenever my element is loaded in the page. To clarify, I am passing the el element to another library (in this case it's a movie player but it could be anything else) and I want to know when the el element is being added to the page, whether its my movie player code that it is adding the element or anyting else.

    Hi All, I am really confused about this one. I have some code that runs fine on my development server but I am now trying to get the site working on the sales guys new laptop. None of the image buttons on the website seem to be working for him (they just redirect me back to the websites homepage) whereas they used to on his previous machine. The only difference between each machine is that his old one was Vista and the new one is Windows 7. Has anyone come accross this issue? What I don't understand is: are there operational differences between these two that would make me prefer one over the other? For example, are there edge-case browsers where one of these works and the other doesn't? Is the integration with jQuery better for either? Does the late-binding of the code to the event make a difference in the behavior of the page? Which do you pick and why?

  • Setting Class-Level Variable to Use Between Event Handlers

    I'm having a hard time understanding why the following code doesn't work. I'm sure it's something remedial that I'm missing or not understanding. I currently have a page that asks for user input. If, based on the input and logged in user, I find data from this page already in the database, I need to update the existing records rather than creating new ones, so I set a class-level bool to true. The problem is, when MyNextButton is clicked, PreviouslySubmitted is still false. So, I'm not sure how to make the value of this variable persist.     I am using a javascript function (F) (jquery )which uses 3 select values selected by the user to calculates a value - R(result) R is a number ranging from (1 through 9), (11) and (22); I need 2 extra steps one before the calculation and one after. a. Before calculation takes place: Make sure all three select values are changed before function(F) takes place. If not prompt the user with a notice ( create dom element/ I am using jquery) b. After the value R is calculated show an element corresponding to the result e.g. if R is 1 show an element ( a predetermined "link" element corresponding to each result value) thanks a lot.
