  • HTML File upload field style

    I am trying to create a file upload field that has a little bit of style to it, but I seem to be having problems finding examples of this. I know part of the reason is that the field itself varies from browser to browser. Any ideas how to do this? Or is there a way to do this without using a file element of a form that can be styled?

  • Creating and writing file from a FileOutputStream in Java

    Okay, so I'm working on a project where I use a Java program to initiate a socket connection between two classes (a FileSender and FileReceiver). My basic idea was that the FileSender would look like this: try { writer = new DataOutputStream(connect.getOutputStream()); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } //While we have bytes to send while(filein.available() >0){ //We write them out to our buffer writer.write(filein.read(outBuffer)); writer.flush(); } //Then close our filein filein.close(); //And then our socket; connect.close(); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); The constructor contains code that checks to see if the file exists, and that the socket is connected, and so on. Inside my FileReader is this though: input = recvSocket.accept(); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(input.getInputStream())); FileOutputStream fOut= new FileOutputStream(filename); String line = br.readLine(); while(line != null){ fOut.write(line.getBytes()); fOut.flush(); line = br.readLine(); } System.out.println("Before RECV close statements"); fOut.close(); input.close(); recvSocket.close(); System.out.println("After RECV clsoe statements"); All inside a try-catch block. So, what I'm trying to do is have the FileSender reading in the file, converting to bytes, sending and flushing it out. FileReceiver, then reads in the bytes, writes to the fileOut, flushes, and continues waiting for more. I make sure to close all the things that I open, so... here comes the weird part. When I try and open the created text file in Eclipse, it tells me "An SWT error has occured ... recommended to exit the workbench... see .log for more details.". Another window pops up saying "Unhandled event loop exception, (no more handles)". However, if I try to open the sent text file in notepad2, I get ThisIsASentTextfile Which is good (well, minus the fact that there should be line breaks, but I'm working on that...). Does anyone know why this is happening? And while we're checking, how to add the line breaks? (And is this a particularly bad way to transfer files over java without getting some other libraries?)

  • What do you do when you feel you need a variatic list comprehension?

    I would like to make a method where I could give it a list of lengths and it would return all combinations of cartesian coordinates up to those lengths. Easier to explain with an example: cart [2,5] Prelude> [ [0,0],[0,1],[0,2],[0,3],[0,4],[1,0],[1,1],[1,2],[1,3],[1,4] ] cart [2,2,2] Prelude> [ [0,0,0],[0,0,1],[0,1,0],[0,1,1],[1,0,0],[1,0,1],[1,1,0],[1,1,1] ] A simple list comprehension won't work because I don't know how long the lists are going to be. While I love Haskell's simplicity for many problems, this is one that I could write procedurally (in C or something) in 5 minutes whereas Haskell gives me an aneurysm! A solution to this specific problem would help me out a lot; I'd also love to hear about your thought processes when tackling stuff like this.

    I have an asp.net website that allows the user to download largish files - 30mb to about 60mb. Sometimes the download works fine but often it fails at some varying point before the download finishes with the message saying that the connection with the server was reset. Originally I was simply using Server.TransmitFile but after reading up a bit I am now using the code posted below.     I have several lists in Matlab that I want to write to the same excel file. I have one list xordered and another list aspl. I do not know the length of the lists till after I run the Matlab program. I used data = xlswrite('edgar.xls',fliplr(sortedx'),'A2:A3000') for the first list but when I tried to write another list to the same file like this I ended up with two different excel files named edgar.xls asp_data = xlswrite('edagr.xls', fliplr(aspl'), 'B2:B3000') Is there a way I can write both of these lists into the same excel file? xordered in the A column and aspl in the B column?

    Ok, so assume that I have an ingress access list that looks like this: access-list outside_in extended ip permit any X.Y.Z.1 eq 25 access-group outside_in in interface outside And I want to do egress filtering. I want to allow inside machines to respond on port 80, and I want to allow ports over 1024. Given that the firewall is statefull, do I need to have the rule access-list inside_in extended ip permit X.Y.Z.1 any eq 25 in my inside_in ACL, or can I get away with just access-list inside_in extended ip permit any any gt 1024 access-group inside_in in interface inside In other words, if I apply an egress access list, do I have to explicitly allow machines to respond to requests allowed by the ingress access list, or does the statefullness of the firewall handle that for me?     I have a spreadsheet with columns set as using the List Manager. I want to remove the list manager. However, the "Remove List Manager" item in the "List" menu of the List toolbar is always disabled. I tried selecting a number of different set of cells in the list, to no avail. "Remove List Manager" stays stubbornly disabled (grayed out). What am I missing? I am using Excel 2008 version 12.1.5.
