  • Firefox Blocklisting Java

    - by kreeves
    Recently, Mozilla decided to blocklist older versions of the Java plug-in. Unfortunately, this doesn't work well with some internal applications we are using. Does any know if there is a workaround? Perhaps a way to unblock the plug-in for certain domains? I've scoured Google. We're using the most up to date Firefox. • ActiveMQ AJax Client

    - by Lily
    I try to write a simple Ajax client to send and receive messages. It's successfully deployed but I have never received msg from the client. I am beating myself to think out what I am missing, but still can't make it work. Here is my code: I creat a dynamic web application named: ActiveMQAjaxService and put activemq-web.jar and all neccessary dependencies in the WEB-INF/lib folder. In this way, AjaxServlet and MessageServlet will be deployed I start activemq server in command line: ./activemq = activemq successfully created and display: Listening for connections at: tcp://lilyubuntu:61616 INFO | Connector openwire Started INFO | ActiveMQ JMS Message Broker (localhost, ID:lilyubuntu-56855-1272317001405-0:0) started INFO | Logging to org.slf4j.impl.JCLLoggerAdapter(org.mortbay.log) via org.mortbay.log.Slf4jLog INFO | jetty-6.1.9 INFO | ActiveMQ WebConsole initialized. I can run the demo portfolioPublisher demo successfully at http://localhost:8161/demo/portfolio/portfolio.html, and see the numbers updated all the time. But for my simple web-app, nothing really works. Any suggestion/hint is welcomed. Thanks so much Lily

  • OpenSSL in C++ email client - server closes connection with TLSv1 Alert message

    - by mice
    My app connects to a IMAP email server. One client configured his server to reject SSLv2 certificates, and now my app fails to connect to the server. All other email clients connect to this server successfully. My app uses openssl. I debugged by creating minimal openssl client and attempt to connect to the server. Below is the code with connects to the mail server (using Windows sockets, but same problem is with unix sockets). Server sends its initial IMAP greeting message, but after client sends 1st command, server closes connection. In Wireshark, I see that after sending command to server, it returns TLSv1 error message 21 (Encrypted Alert) and connection is gone. I'm looking for proper setup of OpenSSL for this connection to succeed. Thanks #include <stdio.h> #include <memory.h> #include <errno.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <winsock2.h> #include <openssl/crypto.h> #include <openssl/x509.h> #include <openssl/pem.h> #include <openssl/ssl.h> #include <openssl/err.h> #define CHK_NULL(x) if((x)==NULL) exit(1) #define CHK_ERR(err,s) if((err)==-1) { perror(s); exit(1); } #define CHK_SSL(err) if((err)==-1) { ERR_print_errors_fp(stderr); exit(2); } SSL *ssl; char buf[4096]; void write(const char *s){ int err = SSL_write(ssl, s, strlen(s)); printf("> %s\n", s); CHK_SSL(err); } void read(){ int n = SSL_read(ssl, buf, sizeof(buf) - 1); CHK_SSL(n); if(n==0){ printf("Finished\n"); exit(1); } buf[n] = 0; printf("%s\n", buf); } void main(){ int err=0; SSLeay_add_ssl_algorithms(); SSL_METHOD *meth = SSLv23_client_method(); SSL_load_error_strings(); SSL_CTX *ctx = SSL_CTX_new(meth); CHK_NULL(ctx); WSADATA data; WSAStartup(0x202, &data); int sd = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_TCP); CHK_ERR(sd, "socket"); struct sockaddr_in sa; memset(&sa, 0, sizeof(sa)); sa.sin_family = AF_INET; sa.sin_addr.s_addr = inet_addr("195.137.27.14"); sa.sin_port = htons(993); err = connect(sd,(struct sockaddr*) &sa, sizeof(sa)); CHK_ERR(err, "connect"); /* ----------------------------------------------- */ /* Now we have TCP connection.   • The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle Client

    - by jkrebsbach
    There was a recent upgrade of the Oracle client on a production web server housing serveral app pools each containing multiple web sites.  The upgrade consisted of adding the 11.2 client tools on the web server, but leaving the 9.2 and 10.2 versions alone.   After learning the upgrade occured, I updated Oracle.DataAccess.dll on my site to the 11.2 dll, and the web site ran smoothly.   The next day I discover the site is throwing an error:   Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException:   The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle Client   The App Pool will connect with an installed version of the Oracle client provider, and coordinate database interactions.  If a request comes in for a web site configured using an earlier version of the provider, that is the version the App Pool will use for Oracle interactions.  If a request is made for a site configured for a different version of the provider, the App Pool will see a conflict and throw the above error.   This web site: http://splinter.com.au/blog/?p=156 described the steps to grab the DLLs for a provider and bring them local (for Oracle 11.1), but even when I brought the DLLs for the Oracle Provider into the local bin directory, the App Pool would still determine the version of the oracle client and continue to throw the exception.   My only resolution for the above problem has been to have dedicated IIS app pools per version of Oracle client being leveraged.

  • New Regular Expression Features in Java 8

    - by Jan Goyvaerts
    Java 8 brings a few changes to Java’s regular expression syntax to make it more consistent with Perl 5.14 and later in matching horizontal and vertical whitespace. \h is a new feature. It is a shorthand character class that matches any horizontal whitespace character as defined in the Unicode standard. In Java 4 to 7 \v is a character escape that matches only the vertical tab character. In Java 8 \v is a shorthand character class that matches any vertical whitespace, including the vertical tab. When upgrading to Java 8, make sure that any regexes that use \v still do what you want. Use \x0B or \cK to match just the vertical tab in any version of Java. \R is also a new feature. It matches any line break as defined by the Unicode standard. Windows-style CRLF pairs are always matched as a whole. So \R matches \r\n while \R\R fails to match \r\n. \R is equivalent to (?\r\n|[\n\cK\f\r\u0085\u2028\u2029]) with an atomic group that prevents it from matching only the CR in a CRLF pair. Oracle’s documentation for the Pattern class omits the atomic group when explaining \R, which is incorrect. You cannot use \R inside a character class. RegexBuddy and RegexMagic have been updated to support Java 8. Java 4, 5, 6, and 7 are still supported. When you upgrade to Java 8 you can compare or convert your regular expressions between Java 8 and the Java version you were using previously.

  • CSOM (Client Side Object Model) - What's new with SharePoint 2013

    - by KunaalKapoor
    SharePoint CSOMThe Client-Side Object Model or CSOM came out with SharePoint 2010. CSOM is accessible through client.svc but all client.svc calls must go through supported WFC entry points (supported entry points are .NET, Silverlight and JavaScript). So a developer would need to use client side proxy objects exposed by either a .NET assembly or a JavaScript library. Changes with SharePoint 2013REST Capabilities - Direct access to client.svcNew APIs - App ModelREST CapabilitiesOne of the most important changes to the CSOM with SharePoint 2013 is that the web service entry point of client.svc has been extended to allow direct access  via REST-Based web service calls. This is a really critical change since its going to make the SharePoint platform accessible to any other platform, opening the horizons of integration and collaboration with other REST based platforms and devices. OData (a really popular standard data access API for HTTP-based clients) is supported similar to 2010 but will be a more important aspect of SharePoint 2013 development.New API'sCSOM for SharePoint 2013 has been buffed up with several new APIs for not only SharePoint server functionality but also an API for Windows Phone applications. For a SharePoint 2010 farm most of the new APIs mentioned below are available only via server side APIs:SearchTaxonomyPublishingWorkflowUser ProfilesE-DiscoveryAnalyticsBusiness DataIRMFeedsSharePoint 2013 remote APIs being accessible through both CSOM and REST is very important to the new app model where developers can no longer run code in a SharePoint environment nor can they access the server-side APIs. So CSOM plays the savior here.Also, you can now substitute the alias '_api' in order to reference '_vti_bin/client.svc'.

  • Generic JMS Client

    Does anyone know if it is feasible to write a Generic JMS client - ie. one that works with JMS from different providers (eg. Sonic, IBM SIB, Jboss etc)? Every time I've written JMS client code it is always very implementation specific with dependent JARs and Context classes. Thanks.

  • Does Java Spring 3.0 MVC support annotation/attribute based client side validation like Asp.net MVC

    - by Athens
    In Asp.Net MVC 2.0, at least in the beta, you could decoration your model classes with data annotation attributes and enable client side validation that leverages that criteria defined in your model data annotation attibutes. Is there anything similar for Java Spring MVC 3.0? Is it possible to inject a component into the response pipeline that can inspect the model's annotated properties and render client side validation logic to complement the server side validation logic that is invoked prior to the controller handling the request?

  • Generic Open Source REST Client?

    - by Dean J
    I want a simple client that takes a few parameters (Method, URL, Parameters), makes an HTTP request, and shows me the results that were returned. A browser obviously can easily send GET and POST requests, but I have no good ideas on DELETE and UPDATE. Did I miss something in browser 101, or is there a common freeware tool to do this? I've seen other threads that give me Java APIs for a simple client, but that's not what I'm looking for.

When I run them both on the same computer everything works, but when I try to run the server on computer A and the client on computer B, I get the error IOException connection refused from the java client. I can't seem to find out whats happening, any thoughts? I've even turned off the firewalls but the problem still persists. server. #include <stdio.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <string.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/socket.h> #include <netinet/in.h> #define PORT 3557 #define BUF 256 int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { struct sockaddr_in host, remote; int host_fd, remote_fd; int size = sizeof(struct sockaddr);; char data[BUF]; host.sin_family = AF_INET; host.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY); host.sin_port = htons(PORT); memset(&host.sin_zero, 0, sizeof(host.sin_zero)); host_fd = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0); if(host_fd == -1) { printf("socket error %d\n", host_fd); return 1; } if(bind(host_fd, (struct sockaddr *)&host, size)) { printf("bind error\n"); return 1; } if(listen(host_fd, 5)) { printf("listen error"); return 1; } printf("Server setup, waiting for connection...\n"); remote_fd = accept(host_fd, (struct sockaddr *)&remote, &size); printf("connection made\n"); int read = recv(remote_fd, data, BUF, 0); data[read] = '\0'; printf("read = %d, data = %s\n", read, data); shutdown(remote_fd, SHUT_RDWR); close(remote_fd); return 0; } client. import java.net.*; import java.io.*; public class socket { public static void main(String[] argv) { DataOutputStream os = null; try { Socket socket = new Socket("192.168.1.103", 3557); os = new DataOutputStream(socket.getOutputStream()); os.writeBytes("phone 12"); os.close(); socket.close(); } catch (UnknownHostException e) { System.out.println("Unkonw exception " + e.getMessage()); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("IOException caught " + e.getMessage()); } } }

  • How to sanely configure security policy in Tomcat 6

    - by Chas Emerick
    I'm using Tomcat 6.0.24, as packaged for Ubuntu Karmic. The default security policy of Ubuntu's Tomcat package is pretty stringent, but appears straightforward. In /var/lib/tomcat6/conf/policy.d, there are a variety of files that establish default policy. Worth noting at the start: I've not changed the stock tomcat install at all -- no new jars into its common lib directory(ies), no server.xml changes, etc. Putting the .war file in the webapps directory is the only deployment action. the web application I'm deploying fails with thousands of access denials under this default policy (as reported to the log thanks to the -Djava.security.debug="access,stack,failure" system property). turning off the security manager entirely results in no errors whatsoever, and proper app functionality What I'd like to do is add an application-specific security policy file to the policy.d directory, which seems to be the recommended practice. I added this to policy.d/100myapp.policy (as a starting point -- I would like to eventually trim back the granted permissions to only what the app actually needs): grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT.war" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT/-" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/-" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib/-" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/-" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; Note the thrashing around attempting to find the right codeBase declaration. I think that's likely my fundamental problem. Anyway, the above (really only the first two grants appear to have any effect) almost works: the thousands of access denials are gone, and I'm left with just one. Relevant stack trace: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/com/foo/some-file-here.txt read) java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:323) java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:546) java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:532) java.lang.SecurityManager.checkRead(SecurityManager.java:871) java.io.File.exists(File.java:731) org.apache.naming.resources.FileDirContext.file(FileDirContext.java:785) org.apache.naming.resources.FileDirContext.lookup(FileDirContext.java:206) org.apache.naming.resources.ProxyDirContext.lookup(ProxyDirContext.java:299) org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.findResourceInternal(WebappClassLoader.java:1937) org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.findResource(WebappClassLoader.java:973) org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.getResource(WebappClassLoader.java:1108) java.lang.ClassLoader.getResource(ClassLoader.java:973) I'm pretty convinced that the actual file that's triggering the denial is irrelevant -- it's just some properties file that we check for optional configuration parameters. What's interesting is that: it doesn't exist in this context the fact that the file doesn't exist ends up throwing a security exception, rather than java.io.File.exists() simply returning false (although I suppose that's just a matter of the semantics of the read permission). Another workaround (besides just disabling the security manager in tomcat) is to add an open-ended permission to my policy file: grant { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; I presume this is functionally equivalent to turning off the security manager. I suppose I must be getting the codeBase declaration in my grants subtly wrong, but I'm not seeing it at the moment.

  • Coding solution to WAR installation error (Websphere Portal 6.0) ?

    - by Scott Leis
    I have a Websphere Portal application containing several portlets for which I'm currently working on some changes. A week ago, the WAR file produced by Rational Application Developer could be installed on the Portal server with no problems. Yesterday I made some seemingly minor changes to two JSP files and their associated "pagecode" Java files, and attempting to update the WAR on the server (using the Portal Administration web interface) now produces an error message. The WAR upload works, and the system shows me the correct list of portlets in the WAR file, but clicking "Finish" gives me a page with the error message "EJPAQ1319E: Cannot install the selected WAR file. View Details". Clicking the "View Details" link gives me a page with the following text: EJPAQ1319E: Cannot install the selected WAR file. com.ibm.portal.WpsException: EJPAQ1319E: Cannot install the selected WAR file. at com.ibm.wps.portlets.portletmanager.actions.DoInstallWebModuleAction.installPortletFromFormFile(DoInstallWebModuleAction.java:633) at com.ibm.wps.portlets.portletmanager.actions.DoInstallWebModuleAction.doExecute(DoInstallWebModuleAction.java:159) at com.ibm.wps.portlets.adminstruts.actions.BaseAction.execute(BaseAction.java:64) at com.ibm.wps.portlets.struts.WpsRequestProcessor.processActionPerform(WpsRequestProcessor.java:338) at org.apache.struts.action.RequestProcessor.process(RequestProcessor.java:274) at com.ibm.wps.portlets.struts.WpsStrutsPortlet.processActionPerformed(WpsStrutsPortlet.java:1947) at com.ibm.wps.portlets.struts.WpsStrutsPortlet.actionPerformed(WpsStrutsPortlet.java:1637) at com.ibm.wps.portlets.adminstruts.WpsAdminStrutsPortlet.actionPerformed(WpsAdminStrutsPortlet.java:261) at com.ibm.wps.pe.pc.legacy.SPIPortletInterceptorImpl.handleEvents(SPIPortletInterceptorImpl.java:323) EJPPE0020E: It is not allowed to install a JSR 168 compliant over a 4.x portlet application. com.ibm.wps.command.applications.AppWarFileException: EJPPE0020E: It is not allowed to install a JSR 168 compliant over a 4.x portlet application. Explanation: A portlet application containing legacy portlets can only be updated with another portlet application that contains legacy portlets. The same is true for standard portlet applications. User Response: Modify the portlet.xml of the application such that it matches the original API type, standard or legacy and try again. However, the "portlet.xml" file has not changed in about a month, and I've done several WAR updates for this application in that time with no problems. The problem seems to be caused by the code changes I did yesterday, but I have no clue why a few lines of code would do this. Any ideas?
