  • Multiple Silverlight Unit Test Projects in Solution

    - by IUnknown
I am building out a number of Silverlight 4.0 libraries that are part of the same solution. I like to break them into separate projects and have a Unit Test project for each: SolutionX -LibraryProject1 ---Class1.cs ---Class2.cs -LibraryProject1.Test ---Tests1.cs ---Tests2.cs -LibraryProject2 ---Class1.cs ---Class2.cs ---CLass3.cs -LibraryProject2.Test ---Tests1.cs ---Tests2.cs ---Tests3.cs -LibraryProject3 ---Class1.cs -LibraryProject3.Test ---Tests1.cs This works great when using VS regular test projects and infrastructure because I can create and execute list of test that are aggregated from each Test project. But with the Silverlight Unit Test Framework since the Silverlight Unit Test Project must be the "start up project" I cannot figure how to run a collection of tests from each test project in one go. I have to run each separately then switch the starting project each time. I would prefer to avoid create complex build scripts or build definitions - is there a way to run all the tests at once? -Thanks

  • Test run errors with MSTest in VS2010

    - by Tomas Lycken
When I run my Unit Tests, all tests pass, but instead of "Test run succeeded" or whatever the success message is, I get "Test run error" in the little bar that tells me how many of my tests pass, even though all my tests passed. When i click the text, I'm taken to a page that tells me the following two things happened: Warning: conflict during test run deployment: deployment item '[...]\Booking.Web.dll' directly or indirectly referenced by the test container [...]\Booking.Web.Tests.dll cannot be deployed to 'Booking.Web.dll' because otherwise the file '[...]\Booking.Web.dll' would override deployment item '[...]\Booking.Web.dll' directly or indirectly referenced by '[...]\Booking.Web.Tests.dll' Error: Cannot initialize the ASP.NET project 'Booking.Web' Exception was thrown: The website could not be configured correctly; getting ASP.NET proccess information failed. Requesting 'http://localhost:54131/VSEnterpriseHelper.axd' returned an error: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. I don't understand half of what it's complaining about. How do I get rid of these errors? (And for reference: Booking.Web is an ASP.NET MVC 2 project, Booking.Web.Tests is a Test project, [...] is the full local path to the projects in my environment, in most of the cases above to the /bin/debug/ folder inside the Booking.Web project)

  • Spork servers super slow (>3m) to start for RSpec & Cucumber BDD

    - by Eric M.
I recently installed a fresh development setup on my laptop and now notice that my instances of spork take several minutes to start up. This is also most likely of the RSpec and Cucumber tests start up times running super slow. I ran in diagnostic mode with the -d flag and received the output below. Anyone have a clue why this is suddenly happening? • Mocking the CAL EventAggregator with Moq

    - by toxvaerd
Hi, I'm using the Composite Application Library's event aggregator, and would like to create a mock for the IEventAggregator interface, for use in my unit test. I'm planning on using Moq for this task, and an example test so far looks something like this: var mockEventAggregator = new Mock<IEventAggregator>(); var mockImportantEvent = new Mock<ImportantEvent>(); mockEventAggregator.Setup(e => e.GetEvent<SomeOtherEvent>()).Returns(new Mock<SomeOtherEvent>().Object); mockEventAggregator.Setup(e => e.GetEvent<SomeThirdEvent>()).Returns(new Mock<SomeThirdEvent>().Object); // ... mockEventAggregator.Setup(e => e.GetEvent<ImportantEvent>()).Returns(mockImportantEvent.Object); mockImportantEvent.Setup(e => e.Publish(It.IsAny<ImportantEventArgs>())); // ...Actual test... mockImportantEvent.VerifyAll(); This works fine, but I would like know, if there is some clever way to avoid having to define an empty mock for every event-type my code might encounter (SomeOtherEvent, SomeThirdEvent, ...)? I could of course define all my events this way in a [TestInitialize] method, but I would like to know if there is a more clever way? :-)

  • How do I use beta Perl modules from beta Perl scripts?

    - by DVK
If my Perl code has a production code location and "beta" code location (e.g. production Perl code us in /usr/code/scripts, BETA Perl code is in /usr/code/beta/scripts; production Perl libraries are in /usr/code/lib/perl and BETA versions of those libraries are in /usr/code/beta/lib/perl, is there an easy way for me to achieve such a setup? The exact requirements are: The code must be THE SAME in production and BETA location. To clarify, to promote any code (library or script) from BETA to production, the ONLY thing which needs to happen is literally issuing cp command from BETA to prod location - both the file name AND file contents must remain identical. BETA versions of scripts must call other BETA scripts and BETA libraries (if exist) or production libraries (if BETA libraries do not exist) The code paths must be the same between BETA and production with the exception of base directory (/usr/code/ vs /usr/code/beta/) I will present how we solved the problem as an answer to this question, but I'd like to know if there's a better way.

  • TestContext is null

    - by Budda
Pretty simple test: [TestClass] public class MyTestClass { private TestContext _testContext; protected TestContext TestContext { get { return _testContext; } set { _testContext = value; } } [TestMethod] [HostType("ASP.NET")] [UrlToTest("http://localhost/MyPage.aspx")] public void TestMyPage() { Assert.IsNotNull(TestContext); } } Fails... Now I am using VS2008 Development edition. Is there any possibility to fix this? Or I need to have a Test (or Team Suite) edition? Thanks. P.S. Access to TestContext object is required to have access to it's RequestedPage property

  • Stresstesting ASP.NET/IIS with WCAT

I'm trying to setup a stress/load test using the WCAT toolkit included in the IIS Resources. Using LogParser, I've processed a UBR file with configuration. It looks something like this: [Configuration] NumClientMachines: 1 # number of distinct client machines to use NumClientThreads: 100 # number of threads per machine AsynchronousWait: TRUE # asynchronous wait for think and delay Duration: 5m # length of experiment (m = minutes, s = seconds) MaxRecvBuffer: 8192K # suggested maximum received buffer ThinkTime: 0s # maximum think-time before next request WarmupTime: 5s # time to warm up before taking statistics CooldownTime: 6s # time to cool down at the end of the experiment [Performance] [Script] SET RequestHeader = "Accept: */*\r\n" APP RequestHeader = "Accept-Language: en-us\r\n" APP RequestHeader = "User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.2; .NET CLR 1.0.3705)\r\n" APP RequestHeader = "Host: %HOST%\r\n" NEW TRANSACTION classId = 1 NEW REQUEST HTTP ResponseStatusCode = 200 Weight = 45117 verb = "GET" URL = "http://Url1.com" NEW TRANSACTION classId = 3 NEW REQUEST HTTP ResponseStatusCode = 200 Weight = 13662 verb = "GET" URL = "http://Url1.com/test.aspx" Does it look OK? I execute the controller with this command: wcctl -z StressTest.ubr -a localhost The Client(s) is executed like this: wcclient localhost When the client is executed, I get this error: main client thread Connect Attempt 0 Failed. Error = 10061 Has anyone in this world ever used WCAT?

Specifically, the repository has a First() method that looks like this: public T First(Expression<Func<T, bool>> expression) { return All().Where(expression).FirstOrDefault(); } The difficulty I'm encountering is with my MSpec tests, where I'm (probably incorrectly) trying to mock that call: public abstract class with_userprofile_repository { protected static Mock<IRepository<UserProfile>> repository; Establish context = () => { repository = new Mock<IRepository<UserProfile>>(); repository.Setup<UserProfile>(x => x.First(up => up.OpenID == @"http://testuser.myopenid.com")).Returns(GetDummyUser()); }; protected static UserProfile GetDummyUser() { UserProfile p = new UserProfile(); p.OpenID = @"http://testuser.myopenid.com"; p.FirstName = "Joe"; p.LastLogin = DateTime.Now.Date.AddDays(-7); p.LastName = "Bloggs"; p.Email = "[email protected]"; return p; } } I run into trouble because it's not enjoying the Linq expression: System.NotSupportedException: Expression up = (up.OpenID = "http://testuser.myopenid.com") is not supported. So how does one test these sorts of scenarios?

  • Running Selenium headless without using xvfb

    - by Paul Biggar
I'm trying to run Selenium headless (without the browser appearing). Other questions have pointed to xvfb as the tool to do this. However, it appears highly unstable, crashing all the time, so I'm looking for another alternative. Is there a non-xvfb way of running Selenium headless?

  • How to Unit Test HtmlHelper similar to using(Html.BeginForm()){ }

    - by DaveDev
Can somebody please suggest how I could write a Unit Test with Moq for following HtmlHelper method? public static HtmlTagBase GenerateTag<T>(this HtmlHelper htmlHelper , object elementData , object attributes) where T : HtmlTagBase { return (T)Activator.CreateInstance(typeof(T) , htmlHelper.ViewContext , elementData , attributes); } which you would use as follows (please note the using statement - this is causing me confusion): <%--Model is a type of ShareClass--%> <% using (Html.GenerateTag<DivTag>(Model)) { %> My Div <% } %> using this method, if you specify T as type DivTag, where ShareClass is defined as public class ShareClass { public string Name { get; set; } public string Type { get; set; } public IEnumerable<Fund> Funds { get; set; } public ShareClass(string name, string shareClassType) { this.Name = name; this.Type = shareClassType; } } the following html will be rendered: <div class="ShareClass" shareclass-type="ShareClass_A" shareclass-name="MyShareClass">My Div</div>

  • MSTest: Problems with DeploymentItem attribute

    - by Juri
Hi, I'm currently maintaining an "old" system written in C#.net, removing some obsolete features and doing some refactoring. Thanks god, the previous guy wrote some unit tests (MSTests). I quite comfortable with JUnit tests, but didn't do yet much with MSTests. The test methods have a DeploymentItem attribute, specifying a text file which is parsed by the business logic method that is being tested and a 2nd DeploymentItem where just a path has been specified containing a bunch of TIF files that have to be deployed too. [TestMethod()] [DeploymentItem(@"files\valid\valid_entries.txt")] [DeploymentItem(@"files\tif\")] public void ExistsTifTest() { ... } The tests worked before, but now I had to change the names of the TIF files contained in the \files\tif directory. According to a rule, the TIF filenames have to match a certain pattern which is also checked by the ExistsTifTest() method. Now I had to change the filenames in order to adapt them to the new requirements and suddently the TIF files are no more being deployed as before. Can someone give me a hint why this happens or what may be the cause? The same thing happens also if I add a new text-file say "my2ndTest.txt" beside the "valid_entries.txt" in the \files\valid\ directory with the according DeploymentItem attribute on the test method. The file doesn't get deployed? I got the images now deployed by defining the deployment path directly in the testrunconfig, but I'd like to understand why these things happen or why for instance my new file "my2ndTest.txt" doesn't get deployed while the others do. Thanks a lot. Juri

  • How to programmatically start a WPF application from a unit test?

    - by Lernkurve
Problem VS2010 and TFS2010 support creating so-called Coded UI Tests. All the demos I have found, start with the WPF application already running in the background when the Coded UI Test begins or the EXE is started using the absolute path to it. I, however, would like to start my WPF application under test from the unit test code. That way it'll also work on the build server and on my peer's working copies. How do I accomplish that? My discoveries so far a) This post shows how to start a XAML window. But that's not what I want. I want to start the App.xaml because it contains XAML resources and there is application logic in the code behind file. b) The second screenshot on this post shows a line starting with ApplicationUnterTest calculatorWindow = ApplicationUnderTest.Launch(...); which is conceptually pretty much what I am looking for, except that again this example uses an absolute path the the executable file. c) A Google search for "Programmatically start WPF" didn't help either.

  • Visual Studio 2010 and TFS 2008: Building unit test projects

    - by Peter
Hi, We are currently taking VS2010 for a testdrive and so far we are a little stumped with how it just won't cooperate with our existing Team Foundation Server 2008. We still have all our projects on .NET 3.5 and whenever we are now building a solution that contains a unit test project (which automatically builds in .NET 4.0) the TFS won't build it. The .NET 4.0 framework is installed on the TFS 2008. The error we're receiving is: [Any CPU/Release] c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Microsoft.Common.targets(0,0): warning MSB3245: Could not resolve this reference. Could not locate the assembly "Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.UnitTestFramework, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a, processorArchitecture=MSIL". Check to make sure the assembly exists on disk. If this reference is required by your code, you may get compilation errors. As a temporary workaround we are now forced to remove all our test projects in order for our solutions to build.

  • Using C# WATIN, how do I get the value of a INPUT tag html element?

    - by djangofan
Using C# WATIN, how do I get the value of the second occurence of a INPUT tag html element on a page? I've tried a whole bunch of things and haven't succeeded. The debugger isn't giving me any obvious way to get element[1] among the 4 that returned. Console.WriteLine(ie.Element(Find.ByClass("myclass")).GetAttributeValue("value") ) ; // works but prints the value of the 1st of 4 input elements on the page Console.WriteLine(ie.ElementsWithTag("input", "text").Length.ToString() ); // returns the number 4 Console.WriteLine( ie.Element(Find.ByName("login")).GetAttributeValue("value") ); // works but its not safe since its possible there might be two elements with the name login Basically, I want to be able to select the input element by its array index.

  • Running each JUnit test in a separate JVM in Eclipse?

    - by HenryR
I have a project with nearly 500 individual tests in around 200 test classes. Some of these tests don't do a great job of tearing down their own state after they're finished, and in Eclipse this results in some tests failing. The tests all pass when running the test suite from the command line via Ant. Can I enable 'test isolation' somehow in Eclipse? I don't mind if it takes longer to run. Long term, I will clean up the misbehaving tests, but in the short term I'd like to get the tests working.

  • Unit Tests in Visual Studio 2010

    - by Ben
Hi, i am trying to create a Unit test for a WinForm in a Visual Studio 2010 project. I add a new "Coded UI Test" to my project, open up the code file, then right click and select "Generate Code for Coded UI Test" - "Use Coded UI Test builder". I then start my application up, select "Record" on the UI Map control. I run my tests (in this case simply select a textbox, type in a random value, them click a button). I then select "Generate Code" from the UI Map control which generates the code which the test will use. When running this test, i get the error: Test method HelloWorldTest.CodedUITest1.CodedUITestMethod1 threw exception: Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UITest.Extension.UITestControlNotFoundException: The playback failed to find the control with the given search properties. Additional Details: TechnologyName: 'MSAA' ControlType: 'Window' Name: 'Form1' ClassName: 'WindowsForms10.Window' --- System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. Does anyone know where i am going wrong? Thanks

  • Where are the factory_girl records?

    - by gmile
I'm trying to perform an integration test via Watir and RSpec. So, I created a test file within /integration and wrote a test, which adds a test user into a base via factory_girl. The problem is — I can't actually perform a login with my test user. The test I wrote looks as following: ... before(:each) @user = Factory(:user) @browser = FireWatir::Firefox.new end it "should login" @browser.text_field(:id, "username").set(@user.username) @browser.text_field(:id, "password").set(@user.password) @browser.button(:id, "get_in").click end ... As I'm starting the test and see a "performance" in browser, it always fires up a Username is not valid error. I've started an investigation, and did a small trick. First of all I've started to have doubts if the factory actually creates the user in DB. So after the immediate call to factory I've put some puts User.find stuff only to discover that the user is actually in DB. Ok, but as user still couldn't have logged in I've decided to see if he's present in DB with my own eyes. I've added a sleep right after a factory call, and went to see what's in the DB at the moment. I was crushed to see that the user is actually missing there! How come? Still, when I'm trying to output a user within the code, he is actually being fetched from somewhere. So where does the records, made by factory_girl within a runtime lie? Is it test or dev DB? I don't get it. I've 10 times checked if I'm running my Mongrel in test mode (does it matter? I think it does, as I'm trying to tun an integration test) and if my database.yml holds the correct connection specific data. I'm using an authlogic, if that can give any clue (no, putting activate_authlogic doesn't work here).

  • Why Moq is throwing "expected Invocation on the mock at least once". Where as it is being set once,e

Following is the code. create a class lib add the ref to NUnit framework 2.5.3.9345 and Moq.dll 4.0.0.0 and paste the following code. Try running it on my machine it throws TestCase 'MoqTest.TryClassTest.IsMessageNotNull' failed: Moq.MockException : Expected invocation on the mock at least once, but was never performed: v = v.Model = It.Is(value(Moq.It+<c__DisplayClass21[MoqTest.GenInfo]).match) at Moq.Mock.ThrowVerifyException(IProxyCall expected, Expression expression, Times times, Int32 callCount) at Moq.Mock.VerifyCalls(Interceptor targetInterceptor, MethodCall expected, Expression expression, Times times) at Moq.Mock.VerifySet[T](Mock1 mock, Action1 setterExpression, Times times, String failMessage) at Moq.Mock1.VerifySet(Action`1 setterExpression) Class1.cs(22,0): at MoqTest.TryClassTest.IsMessageNotNull() using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using Moq; using NUnit.Framework; namespace MoqTest { [TestFixture] public class TryClassTest { [Test] public void IsMessageNotNull() { var mockView = new Mock<IView<GenInfo>>(); mockView.Setup(v => v.ModuleId).Returns(""); TryPresenter tryPresenter = new TryPresenter(mockView.Object); tryPresenter.SetMessage(new object(), new EventArgs()); // mockView.VerifySet(v => v.Message, Times.AtLeastOnce()); mockView.VerifySet(v => v.Model = It.Is<GenInfo>(x => x != null)); } } public class TryPresenter { private IView<GenInfo> view; public TryPresenter(IView<GenInfo> view) { this.view = view; } public void SetMessage(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.view.Model = null; } } public class MyView : IView<GenInfo> { #region Implementation of IView<GenInfo> public string ModuleId { get; set; } public GenInfo Model { get; set; } #endregion } public interface IView<T> { string ModuleId { get; set; } T Model { get; set; } } public class GenInfo { public String Message { get; set; } } } And if you change one line mockView.VerifySet(v => v.Model = It.Is<GenInfo>(x => x != null)); to mockView.VerifySet(v => v.Model, Times.AtLeastOnce()); it works fine. I think Exception is incorrect.

  • How should I pass an object wrapping an API to a class using that API?

    - by Billy ONeal
Hello everyone :) This is a revised/better written version of the question I asked earlier today -- that question is deleted now. I have a project where I'm getting started with Google Mock. I have created a class, and that class calls functions whithin the Windows API. I've also created a wrapper class with virtual functions wrapping the Windows API, as described in the Google Mock CheatSheet. I'm confused however at how I should pass the wrapper into my class that uses that object. Obviously that object needs to be polymorphic, so I can't pass it by value, forcing me to pass a pointer. That in and of itself is not a problem, but I'm confused as to who should own the pointer to the class wrapping the API. So... how should I pass the wrapper class into the real class to facilitate mocking?

  • Passing parameter to SOAP Web Service Requests Using Visual Studio Team System 2008

    - by Nicholas
How can I pass in the current datetime parameter to a SOAP request? I know you can pass in parameters by adding a datasource to the web test project and reference it like this {{DataSource.TableName.FieldName}}. But I want to pass in current datetime parameter as a dynamic value (something like DateTime.Now). How do I go about doing this? Below is sample SOAP request that I put into String Body: <soap:body> <MyQuery xmlns="http://something.com"> <req> <QueryType>{{DataSource.Table.QueryType}}</QueryType> <Name>{{DataSource.Table.Name}}</Name> <RequestDateTime>{{insert DateTime. Now here}}</RequestDatetime> </req> </MyQuery> </soap:body> P.S.
