  • Using Dynamic LINQ to get a filter for my Web API

    We are considering using the Dynamic.CS linq-sample included in the "Samples" directory of visual studio 2008 for our WebAPI project to allow clients to query our data. The interface would be something like this (In addition to the normal GET-methods): public HttpResponseMessage List(string filter = null); The plan is to use the dynamic library to parse the "filter"-variable and then execute the query agains the DB. Any thoughts if this is a good idea? Is it a security problem?

  • Is there a learnable filter in Thunderbird for non-spam messages (as in Opera Mail)?

    One feature I like very much about Opera Mail is that you can have learnable filters for any purpose. So not only can you filter spam messages but also messages that your friends sent you or info mails from web platforms without having to enter each and every mail address you want to filter. It actually works quite satisfying and you can combine it with string filtering, too. It does a few mistakes in the beginning but then improves quickly after you have removed some of the false positives. However, there are a couple of drawbacks with the Opera Mail module. The filters are only ‘virtual’. So, with IMAP there is no easy way of mirroring the filtered structure back on the server and when I’m using webmail I’ll see the whole unfiltered mess in the inbox folder. Opera’s not using the OS X address book — and neither does it use ldap (which is not too important for me at the moment). So, I’m not specifically looking for a Thunderbird solution here, a way to fix things in Opera or Apple Mail should do as well. Or some other E-Mail program I don’t even know about yet. (So, to be clear, I’d like to have: OS X Address Book integration, Learnable filters for any type of filtering, Ability to push filtered folder structure to the IMAP server) But I thought like, if it is possible then most probably there would be an add-on for Thunderbird available. Any ideas?

  • How do I share my jQuery plugin with the world?

    I made a plugin for jQuery, which I think is quite useful. It combines an animated colours plugin with an easings plugin, and adds a completely new feature of being able to refer to colours numerically (more useful in hex notation, so 0xff00cc for example) and therefore manipulate them mathematically more easily. I created a repository on github, and it sits there, nobody looks at it. Mostly, I would like people to look at it, use it, and improve it, so I can use the improvements and so on. I think this idea of numerically manipulating colors could be interesting. It makes it easy to change the hue without changing the saturation for example. Combined with animated colors, I think something interesting could be done, but I don't know what exactly. How do I let people know it (or any other project) is there..? I was going to post it on http://plugins.jquery.com which is currently down. Are there any other outlets for this kind of code?

    Hi, I have described the my problem in the following lines. Kindly clarify me. In my application,I am using more than html page for displaying the content and each page have own .js file. When I call the html page then .js file also included. In the .js,I am using $('div').live('pageshow',function(){}). I am calling the html file from the .js(using $.mobile.changePage("htmlpage")). My problem : consider, I have two html files. second.html file is called with in the one.js. when I show the second.html, that time one.js is reload again. In the liferay-hook.xml I added: portal.properties And in that hook.xml I added: auto.login.hooks=bla.bla.xyz bla.bla.xyz implements AutoLogin, but for now it's pretty gutted: @Override public String[] login(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws AutoLoginException { Object parameters = request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.forward.query_string"); Map<String, String> x = parserClass.parsing(parameters.toString()); System.out.println("voornaam: " + geparsdeParameters.get("tokenvalue1")); try { return null; } catch (Exception e) { throw new AutoLoginException(e); } } Since the hook doesn't start when I add the filtering I removed it and just tried: http://localhost:8080/c/portal/login?tokenvalue1=55 but when I check my tomcat I see: Error XYZ Url: url myUsedUrl exception null Also I tried adding some util classes but I got: classnotfoundexceptions. Is there anything specific I have to do when I add extra classes in a hook? Any advice/input would be appreciated. Or someone's ear I could lend so I could mail them a little bit so I could pick their brain a bit would be really appreciated since I don't know anyone who programs for liferay.

    I understand that Haskell's filter is a high order function (meaning a function that takes another function as a parameter) that goes through a list checking which element fulfills certain boolean condition. I don't quite understand its definition: filter:: (a->Bool)->[a]->[a] filter p [] = [] filter p (x:y) | p x = x:filter p y | otherwise = filter p y I understand that if I pass an empty list to the function, it would just return an empty list, but how do I read the last two lines?

    Hello guys and gals... I have a LI with some information, including some links. I would like jQuery to make the LI clickable, but also remain the links in the LI. The Clickable part works. I just need the links within to work as well. NOTE: They work if you right click and choose "Open in new tab".   • Bootstarap: want to trigger some costum events on layout change

    So, there are some events in my app that changes layout on my page (re-position of the elements)... mostly is done by bootstrap collapsing and fading (tabs, collapsibles, accordions)...   • Moving front page (cursebird or foursquare)

    Ok so I'll be honest, I have a good amount of experience with php/mysql, I've just started learning jQuery and I've done very little, but some with ajax. So using the terms ajax/jquery interchangeably are a bit confusing to me. Anyway as the title suggest I have a website with 5 items, and I want them to move (meaning, if a more recent one is entered, remove the last item, and put the new one on top), they are 5 of the most recent items in the database table, now I've coded jquery as a test so it fades out the last one, the whole thing moves down, makes room at the top, and fades in a new one. However, it's a test and has 0 interaction with the database, the one that fades in is just in a hidden div. So the jQuery part is taken care of. So I'm unsure how to go about this, I was thinking maybe have ajax check a website off the page that has those 5 items in raw format, and if they change then to refresh? Not looking for a "plz code 4 me" answer, just the concept of how it would work, or some links to get off to the right start. edit - Also, the 5 items are ranked, so if I click item 3 I need it to move above item 2 refreshlessly, so this causes a whole other issue I assume.

  • Live search/filter as you type in client approach

    As an exercise for myself to practice my JavaScript "skills" I'm trying to write a client-side filter. It should be able to filter "content blocks" as the user types. By "content block", I mean a list of DomElements that each contain at least one text node - it is possible that they contain more, and even a different amount of text nodes, nested inside other nodes, etc. I've thought of 2 approaches: On page initialization, scan all nodes and store all the text in some kind of Map or a tree. Simply iterate over every item and check whether it has the string to search/filter for. One could add performance here by caching, only filtering the current remaining items if text is added, etc. Obviously, if the number of nodes is really big, option 1 will take a while to build the 'index' but it will perform faster once it is built. Option 2 however will be available right on page load since no initialization is performed. But of course it will take longer to search. So my question is: what is the best approach here? And how would one implement 'caching' and/or 'index'?

  • Rebinding events in jQuery after Ajax update (updatepanel)

    I have several input and option elements on my page, each (well almost) have an event attached to update some text on the page once they change. I use jQuery which is really really cool :) I also use Microsofts Ajax framework, utilizing the UpdatePanel. The reason why I do that is that certain elements are created on the page based on some server-side logic. I don't really want to explain why I use the UpdatePanel - even if it could (it can with quite some effort) be rewritten to use only jQuery I still want that UpdatePanel. You probably guessed it - once I have a postback on the UpdatePanel the jQuery events stops working. I actually was expecting this, since the "postback" is not really a new postback so my code in document.ready that binds the events won't be fired again. I also confirmed my suspicion by reading up on it in the jQuery help libraries. Anyway I'm left with the problem of rebinding my controls after the UpdatePanel is done updating the DOM. I preferably need a solution that does not require adding more .js files (jQuery plug-ins) to the page but something as simple as being able to catch the UpdatePanel's 'afterupdating' where I can just call my method to rebind all the form elements.
