    At first, I was not able to build a new blank project to iPhone using the new XCode 3.2 beta. I edited the project settings and was able to build the blank app to iPhone simulator. However, when I open the nib for the project in IB and click the view, it opens an iPad size view. How do I get the right sized view to work on in IB?

  • Add custom Model Binders for derived objects and their base

    My class diagram: BaseContentClass Page inherits BaseContentClass Tab inherits BaseContentClass ... If I do this ModelBinders.Binders.Add(typeof(BaseContentObject), new BaseContentObjectCommonPropertiesBinder()); then when in controller action parameter of type Tab appears, custom model binder is not fired. It gets fired if I do this: ModelBinders.Binders.Add(typeof(Tab), new BaseContentObjectCommonPropertiesBinder()); But I don't want to go writing "n" number of Add statements in my global.asax.cs to associate all the derived classes with my custom model binder, do I? I don't know if I have any other option.

    I've got a map with three bar buttons for different markers to show up in the map. If I click on a bar button, the specific markers are shown in the map, which already works great. Now I would like to show a transparent overlay (popup window) with the description of the markers after I clicked on a bar button with a button to close the overlay again and show the markers (which are set in the background). Add RouteDescriptionView as a subview RouteDescriptionViewController *routeDescriptionView = [[RouteDescriptionViewController alloc] init]; [self.view addSubview:routeDescriptionView.view]; [routeDescriptionView release]; Works great as well, but the problem here is: I can't configure a close button on the subview to close/remove the subview (RouteDescriptionView). 3. Using UIAlertView Would work as expected, but the UIAlert is not really customizable and therefore not suitable for my needs. Any ideas how to achieve this?

  • Rails routing/polymorphism issue - how to model the following

    Hi all, I have an app where a 'user' belong to a 'client' or a 'vendor' (and client and vendor has_many users). In the admin namespace, I want to administer these users - so an admin would choose a client or a vendor, then nav to that client's or vendor's users. My question is, short of making the user model polymorphic, how could I model/route this? Here is what I have in terms of routing: map.namespace :admin do |admin| admin.resources :clients admin.resources :vendors end I know I could do something like: map.namespace :admin do |admin| admin.resources :clients do |client| client.resources :users admin.resources :vendors do |vendor| vendor.resources :users end end But the above would definitely need me to treat the User as polymorphic. I'm just wondering what you would recommend or what my options are. Thanks.

The referenced method "humanize" isn't used for anything I'm doing at the moment, but belongs to the Model because it's used in several other places. Of course, removing the method is not really an option right now, and the model contains several other methods as well so I assume if I just move the humanize method around, it will generate an error on the next one.     Is there a way to fetch the model and the translations in one query when using globalize2? For example, having a model called Language which have two fields, code and name of which the second is translatable I do the following: en = Language.find_by_code("en") and it runs this query: SELECT SQL_NO_CACHE * FROM `languages` WHERE (`languages`.`code` = 'en') LIMIT 1 and when I do: en.name it runs: SELECT SQL_NO_CACHE * FROM `language_translations` WHERE (`language_translations`.language_id = 123 AND (`language_translations`.`locale` IN ('en','root'))) and if I do it again it'll re-run the query. Is there a way to fetch all the translated data in the first query? I've tried: en = Language.find_by_code("en", :joins => "JOIN language_translations ON language_translations.language_id = languages.id") but it made no difference.   • TabItems from View collection

    I am using MVVM. I have a tab control. I will have a collection of items. I want to display each of this item in the collection as a tab item. The view in each tab item is different and may have its own viewmodel. How do I achieve this? E.g. I have 3 items in the collection. The Tab item template contains an ItemControl. I would like to now have 3 Tabs created and the ItemControls inside each tabitem may be showing different views. One way I could do is have a single view and viewmodel for each item. Now based on some condition the View will display different UI elements and behave differently. But I am afraide this will make the view quite complex over a period of time.

  • acts_as_solr returns all rows in the database when using the model as search query

    In our application we're using acts_as_solr for search. Everything seems to be running smoothly except for the fact that using the model name as the search query returns every single row in the table. For example, let's say we have a users table. We specify acts_as_solr in our model to search the fields first name, last name and handle acts_as_solr :fields = [:handle, :lname, :fname]. When you use "user" as the search term it returns every single user in the system, or every row in the database as a result. Has anyone else run into this?

  • Button outside view... how to make it work

    I have a UIImageView based class that creates objects with the following characteristics: a small image square and a UITextView below. If the user drags the object by the image it can drag it around. If the user taps on the UITextView the keyboard has to appear and the user can change the text on it. The objects created by the class are like this: 1) the object creates a 60x60 pixels frame 2) puts an image inside that frame 3) creates a UITextView and puts it below that 60x60 frame. So, as the class is a UIImageView based and it creates an image with 60x60 pixels and the UITextView is located outside that area, in theory the text view is outside the area the tapping are for that object. Obviously I could make the class create a big square to encompass the image and the text view, but that frame would be too big and I have the objects created by this class to be as close as possible when I add them to another view. I could also create the text views from the same view I created the objects, but I would have to manage each object and each correspondent text view and I need them to move together... so, I have a problem. Any ideas on a simplest way to do that?

    I have a UIView with another UIView inside it. On the inside UIView there is a textbox which I want to fill in. When I try to fill it in the keyboard blocks my view: The UIViewController has the following containerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[UIScreen mainScreen].bounds]; self.view=containerView; //The apropriate releases etc are further on... When I touch it, the keyboard comes up as expected, but blocks the textbox I'm trying to fill in. How can I force the view to slide up?     Hey guys, I have the following classes: class Vigil < ActiveRecord::Base after_update :do_something_cool private def do_something_cool # Sweet code here end end class NewsFeedObserver < ActionController::Caching::Sweeper observe Vigil def after_update # Create a news feed entry end end Everything works as expected. The after_update in the sweeper requires that the do_something_cool method in the model has finished before it can run properly. The problem is that the after_update in the sweeper is being called before (or perhaps at the same time as) the do_something_cool callback and it's causing problems. Does anyone know how to force the after_update in the sweeper to fire after the model callback? Is there better way to achieve this?

  • Why does addSubview load the view asynchronously

    I have a UIView that I want to load when the user clicks a button. There happens to be some data processing that happens as well after I call addSubview that involves parsing an XML file retrieved from the web. The problem is the view doesn't show up until after the data processing even if addSuview is called first. I think I'm missing something here, can anyone help? Code: I have a "Loading..." view I'm adding as a custom modal (meaning I'm not using the modalViewController).     Hi guys, I have to implement map values in my Grails app. I have a class that can contain 0..N OsmTags, and the key is unique. In Java I would model this with a Map in each object, but I don't know how to map classes in Grails. So I defined this class: class OsmTag { /** OSM tag name, e.g. natural */ String key /** OSM tag value, e.g. park */ String value static constraints = { key blank:false, size:2..80,matches:/[\S]+/, unique:false value blank:false, size:1..250,matches:/[\S]+/, unique:false } } That works ok, but it's actually quite ugly because the tag key is not unique.     I create a custom view in cocoa touch that is superclassed by UIView and in my main controller I initialize it and then add it as a subview to the main view, but when I add it to the main view it calls my initializer method again and causes an infinite loop. Am I going about creating my custom view wrong?
