  • Getting row right after insert returns no result

    I am running unit tests and when I try to insert data in the database and getting it right after, I don't get anything (I have tried with DataAdapter and DataReader). However when I put a 3 seconds sleep (even with 1 second it doesn't work...) between the insert and the select I get the result. In SQL Server Profiler I can see the execution, the insert is well done and is completed about 10 miliseconds before the select begins. I can't find out where this comes

  • Selenium RC slower on Windows 7 than on XP?

    I've got two systems, one with Windows XP and another with 7, both running Firefox 3.6, the same version of Selenium RC and the newest nunit. When I run tests on 7, it is executed extremely slowly (I mean walking by textbox and setting its values), but when I execute this script on Windows XP it is extremely fast. Do you have the same experience? Do you know what the problem might be?

  • TimeOuts with HttpWebRequest when running Selenium concurrently in .NET

    I have a download worker that uses ThreadPool-threads to download files. After enhancing these to apply some Selenium tests to the downloaded files, I am constantly experiencing TimeOut-exceptions with the file downloaders and delays running the Selenium tests. More precisely: When the program starts, the download threads start downloading and a couple of pages are seamlessly processed via Selenium Shortly after, the first download threads start throwing TimeOut exceptions from HttpWebRequest. At the same time, commands stop flowing to Selenium (as observed in the SeleniumRC log), but the thread running Selenium is not getting any exception This situation holds as long as there are entries in the download list: new download threads are being started and terminate after receiving TimeOuts (without trying to lock Selenium) As soon as no more download threads are being started, Selenium starts receiving commands again and the threads waiting for the lock are processed sequentially as designed Now here's the download code: HttpWebRequest request = null; WebResponse response = null; Stream stream = null; StreamReader sr = null; try { request = (HttpWebRequest) WebRequest.Create(uri); request.ServicePoint.ConnectionLimit = MAX_CONNECTIONS_PER_HOST; response = request.GetResponse(); stream = response.GetResponseStream(); // Read the stream... } finally { if (request != null) request.Abort(); if (response != null) response.Close(); if (stream != null) { stream.Close(); stream.Dispose(); } if (sr != null) { sr.Close(); sr.Dispose(); } } And this is how Selenium is used afterwards in the same thread: lock(SeleniumLock) { selenium.Open(url); // Run some Selenium commands, but no selenium.stop() } Where selenium is a static variable that is initialized in the static constructor of the class (via selenium.start()). I assume I am running into the CLR connection limit, so I added these lines during initalization: ThreadPool.GetMaxThreads (out maxWorkerThreads, out maxCompletionPortThreads); HttpUtility.MAX_CONNECTIONS_PER_HOST = maxWorkerThreads; System.Net.ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit = maxWorkerThreads + 1; The + 1 is for the connection to the SeleniumRC, due to my guess that the Selenium client code also uses HttpWebRequest. It seems like I'm still running into some kind of deadlock - although the threads waiting for the Selenium lock do not hold any resources. Any ideas on how to get this working?

  • Should all resources in a java web application be uniquely named?

    Trying to understand resources in java-land. I believe the following is true: Resources loaded via the classpath have no namespace, they only have a file name. It's wisest to always load resources via the classpath, never via the file system, even in unit tests. Therefore, resources must always have unique file names, or collisions will occur. Are there flaws in my assumptions or my conclusion?

    I have a table in the form: test_name| test_result | test1 | pass | test2 | fail | test1 | pass | test1 | pass | test2 | pass | test1 | pass | test3 | pass | test3 | fail | test3 | pass | As you can see all test1's pass while test2's and test3's have both passes and fails. Is there a SQL statement that I can use to return the distinct names of the tests that only pass? E.g. test1

Apart from my quick'n'dirty programming skills, I believe, that there are also some performance boosts, I haven't used.   • Dubugging a program not run within the debugger and without a crash

    I left a program running last night, it worked fine for about 5 hours and then one of its built-in self-diagnostic tests detected a problem and brought up a dialog box telling me the issue. The program was built with debug information (/Zi). Is it possible to somehow get the debugger started so I can examine the value of some variables within the program? Or is it too late?

    I'm new to unit testing, and I'm learning how to use NUnit and Moq. NUnit provides Assert syntax for testing conditions in my unit tests, while Moq provides some Verify functions. To some extent these seem to provide the same functionality. How do I know when it's more appropriate to use Assert or Verify? Maybe Assert is better for confirming state, and Verify is better for confirming behavior (Classical versus Mockist)?

  • How can I improve the recursion capabilities of my ECMAScript implementation?

    After some resent tests I have found my implementation cannot handle very much recursion. Although after I ran a few tests in Firefox I found that this may be more common than I originally thought. I believe the basic problem is that my implementation requires 3 calls to make a function call. The first call is made to a method named Call that makes sure the call is being made to a callable object and gets the value of any arguments that are references. The second call is made to a method named Call which is defined in the ICallable interface. This method creates the new execution context and builds the lambda expression if it has not been created. The final call is made to the lambda that the function object encapsulates.     I wrote a program in java that rolls a die and records the total number of times each value 1-6 is rolled. I rolled 6 Million times. Here's the distribution: #of 0's: 0 #of 1's: 1000068 #of 2's: 999375 #of 3's: 999525 #of 4's: 1001486 #of 5's: 1000059 #of 6's: 999487 (0 wasn't an option.) Is this distribution consistant with random dice rolls? What objective statistical tests might confirm that the dice rolls are indeed random enough?

  • Id property not populated

    I have an identity mapping like so: Id(x => x.GuidId).Column("GuidId") .GeneratedBy.GuidComb().UnsavedValue(Guid.Empty); When I retrieve an object from the database, the GuidId property of my object is Guid.Empty, not the actual Guid (the property in the class is of type System.Guid). However, all of the other properties in the object are populated just fine. The database field's data type (SQL Server 2005) is uniqueidentifier, and marked as RowGuid. The application that is connecting to the database is a VB.NET Web Site project (not a "Web Application" or "MVC Web Application" - just a regular "Web Site" project). I open the NHibernate session through a custom HttpModule.   • Boost.Test: Looking for a working non-Trivial Test Suite Example / Tutorial

    The Boost.Test documentation and examples don't really seem to contain any non-trivial examples and so far the two tutorials I've found here and here while helpful are both fairly basic. I would like to have a master test suite for the entire project, while maintaining per module suites of unit tests and fixtures that can be run independently. I'll also be using a mock server to test various networking edge cases. I'm on Ubuntu 8.04, but I'll take any example Linux or Windows since I'm writing my own makefiles anyways.

  • How do I show an embedded excel file in a WebPage?

    I want to allow an Excel report to be viewed embedded in a WebPage... is there a way? I don't want to use an ActiveX, or OWC (Office Web Components), I just want to open an existing file from the internet explorer application. I don't want users to download and then open it. Using an iframe wouldn't be a problem, but my preliminary tests weren't successful Any ideas? Is it at all possible?
