  • Project works in eclipse but not when exported

    I wrote an application that uses GraphViz to generate some graphs as .gif's according to the DOT syntax. When I run from Eclipse the images are generated fine but when I export it as a jar the images are created but there is no data in them. When I view them in Microsoft Picture Viewer its just the red X. It was working as an exported jar until I put the picture generation in its own thread. I can't seem to figure out whats going on here. Are there any problems exporting multi-threaded projects? Any one have any ideas? Thanks

  • How to dynamicly build up a gui

    Hi there, for the app i am creating i need a lot "option menus". E.g. for the sound file trimming part it would be something like "leadingSilence" / Integer "trailingSilence" / Integer "hold" / Integer. Overall, there are a lot of options of different types (int, float, string), and im thinking about if it is a better way to manualy create a window for each option set, or to dynamicly create them. last one would be quite easy if all types were similar (so i would just add eg spinButtons) I guess but its not. At this time i mange the options with the standard .properties of jave, and there is no need to change. My question is: is there a lib which provides such functionality, or is there a "standard way" to do this? How much work would it be? How to dynamicly create the selection listeners? In could i'd love to have something like: OptionWindow trimmingOptionWindow = createWindowFromOptionSet(OptionManager.getOptions("trimming") ); trimmingOptionWindow.open(); I hope its clear what I mean :)

  • No exit option if something is running

    How can I catch something going on if the user chooses the exit option from a menu? I mean I'd like to be able to manage the event of a user who is going to close the application but some activity is being performed so he/she shouldn't be able to exit. Here's the code I wrote. In a nutshell : recording is being performed -- user clicks exit -- WARNING "Process is running you can't do it"(The process goes on) nothing is running -- user clicks exit -- application closes Is it possible to solve the problem by just adding a few lines of code without having to rewrite the entire program? thanks very much in advance.   • Activiti Engine: Task Event - User is null

    I have a problem, which should be simple to solve, but i can't find the method to call to solve this problem: My problem is, that every Task Event (org.activiti.engine.task.Event) returnes null by calling Event.getUserId(); If I take a look into the database I see that the database table ACT_HI_COMMENT has null as value for the column USER_ID_ for every row. I generate these TaskEvents programmatically by calling (for example) processEngine.getTaskService().addComment(task.getId(), null, commentMessage); processEngine.getTaskService().addUserIdentityLink(task.getId(), user.getId(), IDENTITY_LINK_OBSERVER); I guess there is a simple method that I must call to solve this problem, something like processEngine.setCurrentUser(authenticatedUser.getId()); Any suggestions?

    hi i have posted one of my app in market.android.com when i am trying to post second app it shows "You have another application on Market with the same package name. Go to that other application, and click upgrade" I dont want to upgrade it but i want my second app to be posted. When i tried to change the package name it showed lots of errors, so i decided to create the app once again in a new package and project name, it seems to be a very lengthy process.... pls help me to solve the issue bcoz i have created all my app in same package name unknowingly.......

  • Date or String declaration in a javabean

    Should I declare an attribute in a javabean that holds a date value a user types in on an HTML form as a String or Date? I feel I should declare as a Date, however, since I do server validation on all form data, if the date doesn't validate, when I pass the form bean back to the jsp view for correcting, I lose the date value that the user tried to type in. If I declare as a String, if the date doesn't validate, I'm able to set the string value in the bean and pass the bean back to the view and the user can see what they incorrectly typed. But with a String declaration for Date inputs I forsee problems down the road with my DAO. I want to be able to use a DAO utility which generates a prepare statement using setObject. In my html form I request dates to be mm/dd/yyyy and in DAO i'm using Oracle Date. I can not use hibernate or such, since this is a corporate intranet. What is the best practice "pattern" I should be following??

    Often, I have a list of objects. Each object has properties. I want to extract a subset of the list where a specific property has a predefined value. Example: I have a list of User objects. A User has a homeTown. I want to extract all users from my list with "Springfield" as their homeTown. I normally see this accomplished as follows: List users = getTheUsers(); List returnList = new ArrayList(); for (User user: users) { if ("springfield".equalsIgnoreCase(user.getHomeTown()) returnList.add(user); } I am not particularly satisfied with this solution. Yes, it works, but it seems so slow. There must be a non-linear solution. Suggestions?

    My code tries to replace "," with "/" in a string. Should I escape "," in the regex string? Both of the two code snippets generated the same results, so I am confused. Code snippet 1: String test = "a,bc,def"; System.out.println(test.replaceAll("\\,", "/")); Code snippet 2: String test = "a,bc,def"; System.out.println(test.replaceAll(",", "/")); Should I use "," or "\,"? Which is safer? Thanks.

  • Can't declare an abstract method private....

    I want to do this, yet I can't. Here is my scenario and rational. I have an abstract class for test cases that has an abstract method called test(). The test() method is to be defined by the subclass; it is to be implemented with logic for a certain application, such as CRMAppTestCase extends CompanyTestCase. I don't want the test() method to be invoked directly, I want the super class to call the test() method while the sub class can call a method which calls this (and does other work too, such as setting a current date-time right before the test is executed for example).   • Commons VFS and IBM MVS System

    Hello All, I'm using Apache Commons VFS / SFTP, we are trying to download files from the IBM MVS system. The download part is all good, however, we can not open up the zipped files after downloading. Seems like the zip file was compressed using a different algorithm or something Anyone has any pointers? *Note, the same function works fine if we connect to a regular unix/linux SFTP server.   • android: getting rid of "warning: unmappable character for encoding ascii"

    I'm compiling using android tools without eclipse. I compile launching "ant debug" from command line. I have found many many instructions around the web about how to remove with annoying warning, but I haven't been able to make any of them work. I've tried -D option, I've tried randomly tweaking build.* files, I've tried exporting an environment variable... nothing. I guess some of these methods just don't work, and some others would work but I've been doing them incorrectly. Anything is possible and I can't stand it any more: any advice on how to do it?

    Situation: I have this log4j logger: private static final Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(ThisClassName.class); And am trying to set it programatically through: Logger.getLogger(ThisClassName.class).setLevel(Level.DEBUG); Still, DEBUG level prints are swalloed (while INFO prints are printed successfully). Even this bit has no effect: Logger.getRootLogger().setLevel(Level.DEBUG); Calling logger.debug("foo") reaches Category.forcedLog() and ConsoleAppender.doAppend(), and then fails (quits) at: if(!isAsSevereAsThreshold(event.getLevel())) Any idea why this is happening?

    Ok so I have a been making an addressbook application and have pretty much finished all the key features but I am looking to implement a sort feature in the program. I want to sort an Arraylist which is of a type called Contact (contactArray) which is a separate class which contains four fields; name, home number, mobile number and address. So I was looking into using the collection sort yet am not sure how i'd implement this. Is this the right sort I should be using / is it possible to use or should I look into making a custom sort?

    Recently I have debugging into a problem where a connection to a database server from the application server get reset. I am pretty sure there is no reset being called from either end. But while I was debugging into the problem, while inspecting the SocketException, I found the walkback variable. arg0 SocketException (id=11532) cause SocketException (id=11532) detailMessage "Connection reset" stackTrace null walkback long[50] (id=11618) What do the values in this variable represent?

  • Limiting Row Selection in JTable

    Is there an easy way to limit the total selection of rows in a JTable? I mean I'd like to allow the user to use shift and ctrl to select a maximum of X rows. If he clicks again on a row it would cancel out all the selections. Sort of how it currently behaves, but while limiting the total amount of selected rows.   • jboss web services to tranfer files

    I dont have any experience for web services. please give me some suggestion about the task below. the task is: users will send a txt file (size should less than 20K ) from a .NET application, I need to write a web services which runs by jboss 5.x to read this file and edit this file and send the file back to .NET UI to display the edited version. question is that if the txt file is just test string or binary string, are there any restriction of the string length? if it's binary string, can I need to use BinaryReader class to read it? or not need special reader to read it? (this could be a dumn question :P) what if the .NET application can save the file on either the .NET application server or some shared server location, send a download URL to web serivces, can web services download it and read it? JBoss will be run on Linux sever. After edit the file, how do I send it back? Thanks for your help!
