• Exception when programmatically copying content type

  Hi all: I'm getting exceptions when copying content type from one web to another: foreach (SPContentType destinationWebCt in destinationWeb.ContentTypes) { destinationWeb.ContentTypes.Add(existingWebCt); destinationWeb.Update(); } existingWebCt is the content type from another web e.g. /Site/Web. destinationWeb is the web that I wish to copy the content type to e.g. /Site/DestinationWeb. I got the SPException that says something like content type can not be added outside of its scope. Then I decided to replace all "ContentTypes" to "AvailableContentTypes", but then I got the SPException saying this collcetion could not be modified. So how can I copy a content type to another web? Thanks.

  Hello, My requirement is that there are 2 parties 1. User (who creates the item) 2.Approvers who approve the item When the user creates the item then they should see only their created item in the list (This is easily possible)...the approvers should have only read access and they can see all the items ...when i select the option that only person who creates the item can see the item then approvers are not able to see the items...can somebody plz help that how to work with this...maybe i am missing some simple stuff so can anybody just point me out to the solution..   Hi friends I have created custom site column with type text and I included in one of content types. But it is allowing me for 255 characters only. In which way I can extend it, say 1024 characters. I did this before by mentioning somewhere in web.config file but I forgot how i did. Can anyone please tell me how can I achieve this. Thanks in advance.

  I am having issues with setting up the Inbound Email with SP 2010. I have enabled the settings in Central Admin for Inbound Email, set up an MX record, added the IP to my Exchange Server, then created a new doc-lib in SP and i am still not seeing the "Incoming e-mail settings" option under communications in the doc-lib setup screen. Can someone let me know what I may be doing wrong, or missing?

Putting the correct URL in Alternate Access Mappings is ultimately the correct solution, but if possible, I need a work-around that doesn't require configuration.

  I want to have some url for my infopath form and give that link to user instead of going to form library and click new...how is it possible? Also when I created Infopath form I have given some text fields and button, I don't want the Infopath services buttons(Save,save as...) how I cna remove those? I published my form into document library. I click new and fill information and submit its working fine but when I reopen it again and try to submit it ...its giving me error...that some rules are not correct ...the rules I have on submit button are submit to document library and close after submitting.Any idea how to resolve this.... Any suggestions would really be appreciated...Thanks

  My farm consists of two front end (FE) web servers that are managed by a load balancer. One FE went down so we configured the load balancer to only send traffic to the other FE. We rebuilt the failed FE and rejoined the farm which appears to have worked successfully (looking at IIS). I want to test the new FE before configuring the Load Balancer to use the new server. The approach I took was to add the IP/URL to my host file that pointed to the new server but nothing comes up. Any advice would be great. Thanks

  I'm trying to create a Lookup Field as a Site Column via CAML. The list I want to use as the source of the lookup is created in the Feature Receiver so I don't know it's ID. I've read several blog posts that indicate that I can just put the path to the list in the List attribute. It seems from the comments on these post that this solution works for some people but not for others. I'm in the latter group.   Hi, Is there a possibility to block chance to add the same data to SPList? I know that two records always are different regarding the ID field. I would like to validate other custom fields added previously by me, and don't allow of adding same field's value. Can anybody tell me how to implement this? Let's call it specialField Given that view and specialField, I want to know if a value is contained in specialField. • Data table to Excel conversion leaves my server side button non responsive

  We have a web part on which we display some data in a grid. We are exporting grid's underlying datatable to Excel and displaying Open - Save - Cancel dialouge box on click of a server side button. Following is the code we are executing on click of server side button. this.Page.Response.Clear(); this.Page.Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=MyTasks.xls"); this.Page.Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel"; this.Page.Response.Write("...here goes my well formated html...."); this.Page.Response.End(); Problem is that when i click on Cancel in the diaglouge box then dialogue box to Open/Save excel disappears but all the server side buttons placed on my web part becomes non responsive, on click of any of those buttons their server side click event does not get fired !!! Any idea ? Thanks.
