• Can someone implement LVM on an existing single-hard disk system ?

  I am using SuSE Linux (10) and I am considering expanding the available disk, without resizing an existing partition (which is not easy to do on a VM). Instead, I want to create another virtual disk, and add it in a new LVM volume, which would include the existing disk, and this new one, in a seamless single mount point. We are using VMware vServer 4, under Lab Manager and Virtual Centre. Does SuSE support LVM in version 10 ? Thanks :-)

  Here is my Windows 7 Experience Index using the stock graphics driver: And after installing the newest driver Forceware 197.45, it becomes: The only change is that the "Gaming graphics" subscore drops from 6.4 to 5.2. Is the stock graphic driver more optimized for Windows 7? Or is Forceware 197.45 buggy? Should I revert back to the stock driver?   I wonder what main purposes and benefits can one get after he sets up a webserver running on Linux installed on a VM which is hosted by Windows and that this webserver can be used as a local host for windows ? That is, I have java application that is a webserver made on Linux, I set up the virtual machine for the windows client apps to listen to its (Linux)'s local IP address and port e.g 192.168.50.50:11111 When my webserver runs, I can use http://192.168.50.50/ as the windows's localhost address (instead of 127.0.0.1 as I usually do). All the instructions I've seen on moving SQL server from one machine to another assume the new machine has the same OS. I realize that there are licences have more cores and fail over capability, but for now we are fine with a simple installation.

  I have just set up a VM for Windows Server 2008 R2 and want to install Microsoft CRM 2011 to play around with it. CRM 2011 seems to require Active Directory to be configured and running on the server. I've never gotten involved with Active Directory and I know that I need to install it and get it going for the CRM 2011 to continue.   I have a VM running Ubuntu Server 9.10 running a basic web server setup. Whenever I run an apt function it will pause for around 1 minute at 'Waiting for headers...'. It will eventually clear through and continue as normal but it is a bit of an annoyance. Everything else on the server seems to run fine. Any ideas?

What is the best way to sync them? Create a symlink for each file in my home folder pointing out to a the respectives files in my Dropbox sync folder? Is this possible (delete .bashrc and create a symlink instead)?

  I'm trying to run LKL (Linux Keyboard Logger) in a Ubuntu 9.04 VirtualBox VM (VirtualBox 2.2.2 running on a XP host). The package installs fine, but when I try to run it lkl -l -k /usr/share/lkl/keymaps/us_km -o ./kbd.log & it hogs the CPU usage to 50% and never logs a keystroke (in fact the kbd.log file is never created) Any clues?   I have a Server running Ubuntu 10.10 Server-Edition kvm, and libvirt (both ubuntu-native packages) HDD-Partitioning was done with LVM. Then I created some VMs with Virt-Manager and assigned LVM-Volumes to the VMs. Now the VMs do not boot. Virt-Manager shows a CPU-Usage of 100% for this Guest and the VNC-Connection states Booting from Hard Disk The VM-specific logfiles do not show any abnormality only syslog shows a warning warning : qemudParsePCIDeviceStrs:1422 : Unexpected exit status '1', qemu probably failed What can I do to find the error?

  Hi all, Is there any way to increase the number of vmware.log files for a given VM (Vmware Server 1.0.4, host: SLES 10)? Problem is, that one of our VMs crashes every now and then, and I can only see the four log files vmware.log, vmware-0.log, vmware-1.log and vmware-2.log each of which contains records starting after the crash when trying to boot. • Why do my VMware Images get so large?

  Hi, I have a Centos VMware Image that I have recreated a couple times, and I notice that after a while it gets pretty large. It starts out at 8 GBs when I make it, and a week or two later it is 25GB and then a month later it is a whole 50GB or so. I am not installing anything crazy on it, and my disk usage on the VM is pretty low. Is there an option that could be affecting the size of these VMs?

• Any consumer routers with Outgoing VPN support?

  When I'm working at home, I need to be able to connect to three different outgoing VPNs, two of which happen to use the same internal IP addressing schemes (192.168.0.*). I also need a static address for my VirtualBox VM so I can connect to my testing web server. Are there any routers which will allow me to connect to multiple outgoing VPNs and assign different internal IP addresses through NAT?
