    I have an activity that starts AsyncTask and shows progress dialog for the duration of operation. But as I have mentioned, I forbid activity recreation for basic events. So any suggestions are very appreciated.

    I've got a ResourceDictionary file that contains a bunch of resources to define elements of my UI. Including one for my DialogWindows, which will just be Windows. <Style x:Key="DialogWindow" TargetType="{x:Type Window}" > <Setter Property="OverridesDefaultStyle" Value="True"/> <Setter Property="WindowStyle" Value="None" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Window}"> <Grid Background="{StaticResource SunkenBackground}"> <StackPanel Margin="20,20,20,20" Background="{StaticResource SunkenBackground}"> <AdornerDecorator> <ContentPresenter/> </AdornerDecorator> </StackPanel> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> As you can see every DialogWindow should have a grid and a stackpanel, and then the content goes inside there. I've added the file to my App.xaml, and on one of my dialog windows I added Style="{StaticResource DialogWindow}". So the question is: Now that I have my Template set up for a window, and things are actually styled properly once I've added the StaticResource, what tags do I use to wrap my content in inside of my DialogWindow? I tried wrapping them inside Grid, but that just breaks the layout. If I wrap them inside a StackPanel, they look correct, but then I've got 2 StackPanels and a Grid, when if I didn't include the template I could just have 1 StackPanel and a Grid (I realize I could just take the stackpanel out of the template and do it for every DialogWindow, but that doesn't seem like a good solution).     an ActiveX control generated by Visual Basic 6, very old stuff, it has a couple of methods and one event. now I have to use the control in C++, visual studio 2008, but I don't like to generate a form/dialog/window as constainer. I add some MFC class From ActiveX Control. Now the wrap class has all the methods defined in the ActiveX control. I definitely need add event handler to take care of the event fired by ActiveX control. With a form/dialgue/window, it could be done by below BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP ON_EVENT. My questions are 1. how to add the event handler without a form/dialgue/window. Is this impossible? 2. Could I manually add constructor in the ActiveX control wrap class, so I could use new operator to get an instance on the heap? Thanks Add the Event Sinks Map near the start of the definition (.cpp) file. The BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP macro takes the container's Class name, then the base class name as parameters. The container's class name is used again in the AFX_EVENTSINK_MAP macro and the ON_EVENT macro.

  • Testing Web Application: "Mirror" ad-hoc testing in another window

    I don't even really know if the title is the best way to explain what I'm trying to do, but anyway... We have a web app that is being ported to a number of DB backends via MDB2. Our unit tests are pretty lacking at the moment, but our internal users are pretty good at knowing what to test to see if things are broken. What I'm 'imagining' is a browser plug in (don't really care which browser it is for) or a similar system that essentially takes every event from one window and 'mirrors' it in the other browser/s. The reason I'd like this is so that I can have various installations that use different DB backends, and have the user open a window/tab to each installation. From there, however, I'd like them to be able to 'work' in one window and have that 'work' I occur at the same time in each of the 'cloned' windows. From there, they should be able to do some quick eyeballing of the information that comes back, without having to worry about timing differences and so (very much). I know it's a big ask, but I figure if anyone knows of a solution, I'd find it here... Any thoughts?

  • How come JFrame window size in Java does not produce the size of window specified?

    Hi all, I am just messing around trying to make a game right now, but I have had this problem before too. When I specify a specific window size (1024 x 768 for instance) the window produced is just a little larger than what I specified. Very annoying. Is there a reason for this? How do I correct it so the window created is actually the size I want instead of being just a little bit bigger? Up till now I have always just gone back and manually adjusted the size a few pixels at a time until I got the result I wanted, but that is getting old. If there was even a formula I could use that would tell me how many pixels I needed to add/subtract from my my variable that would be excellent! P.S.     First, I've taken the time to review this question which seems to be the most similar, however, the solution that seems to have been selected will not work in my scenario.Not to mention I worry about some of the comments claiming it to be brittle or an inadequate solution. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/104601/asp-net-response-redirect-to-new-window -We have an XML document which basically contains all of the information for a Side menu. -We have numerous URLS which are stored in a constants class. -One of the elements in a string of XML (well call it label) is used to determine if the menu item is created as a LinkButton or a Label. -Links use a custom user control that is used standard for all links across the application (why suggestion on similar thread doesn't work - I don't want all links to open in a new window - just one) -One of the elements in a string of XML (well call it function) is used in a Switch statement to generate our links using Response Redirect. It may look something like this. switch (function) { case goto 1: string url; if (user_group == 1) { url = Constants.CONSTANT1 } else { url = Constants.CONSTANT2 } Response.Redirect(url) case goto 2: ...... default: ...... break; } Given this scenario, I'm trying to find the best way to quickly open a New Window, when a specific case in this switch statement is met. Can it be done with Response Redirect (this seems to be arguable - people say no it can't, yet other people say they have made it work)? If not, what alternative can work here?

    How do i set my window above all other? I need a bad but noticeable msg box that closes on its own. Msg is a dummy form which is empty. All i want is its title. The problems with the code is the window isnt created 0,0 (its just whereever windows feels like putting it). The width is correct but i notice if i click firefox or another app window my app doesnt pop up. I know it is being shown bc i can see it in the taskbar at the bottom for a brief second.   • Change Active Taskbar Application

    I currently have the Buttons on other taskbars set so Never combine So I can have multiple Chrome windows open and will see multiple Chromes on the taskbar. Now the problem is that sometimes I don't really know which one I'm currently looking at. Is there a way to have the active application take on a different color or some other indication that it's the active window.     Hello there. I have a Win32 C++ Application. There is the _tWinMain(...) Method with GetMessage(...) in a while loop at the end. Before GetMessage(...) I create the main window with HWND m_MainHwnd = CreateWindowExW(WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW | WS_EX_LAYERED, CAxWindow::GetWndClassName(), _TEXT("http://www.-website-.com"), WS_POPUP, 0, 0, 1024, 768, NULL, NULL, m_Instance, NULL); ShowWindow(m_MainHwnd) If I do not create the main window, my application needs about 150K in memory. But with creating the main window with the WebBrowser Control inside, the memory usage increases to 8500K. But, I want to dynamically unload the main window. My _tWinMain(...) keeps running! Im unloading with DestroyWindow(m_MainHwnd) But the WebBrowser control won't unload and free up it's memory used! Application memory used is still 8500K! I can also get the WebBrowser Instance or with some additional code the WebBrowser HWND IWebBrowser2* m_pWebBrowser2; CAxWindow wnd = (CAxWindow)m_MainHwnd; HRESULT hRet = wnd.QueryControl(IID_IWebBrowser2, (void**)&m_pWebBrowser2); So I tried to free up the memory used by main window and WebBrowser control with (let's say it's experimental): if(m_pWebBrowser2) m_pWebBrowser2->Release(); DestroyWindow(m_hwndWebBrowser); //<-- just analogous OleUninitialize(); No success at all. I also created a wrapper class which creates the main window. I created a pointer and freed it up with delete: Wrapper* wrapper = new Wrapper(); //wrapper creates main window inside and shows it //...do some stuff delete(wrapper); No success. Still 8500K. So please, how can I get rid of the main window and it's WebBrowser control and free up the memory, returning to about 150K. Later I will recreate the window.     We had recently had a vendor switch to a fortinet firewall. We were given the FortinetSLVPNclient (version 4.0.2148) to use. This has some simple command line switches that allow you to connect from the commandline (cmd.exe this is on windows) but they seem to do nothing. Anyone have any luck with this or any alternative ssl vpn clients with scriptable installers? I have been through the documentation on the site and have seen my hopes dashed.

Using this format in the htaccess "Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin http://aSite.com" (and https) sends the setting in the http response header, but I still get the "XMLHttpRequest cannot load https://aSite.com/aFile.php. Origin aSite.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin" error when trying to access https from http origin. Also, I receive no response header for https, only that message shows up in Chrome. Is the server still blocking it even though I've sent the proper headers? I read elsewhere that it helps to add these terms Access-Control-Allow-Headers X-Requested-With Access-Control-Allow-Methods OPTIONS, GET, POST Access-Control-Allow-Headers Content-Type, Depth, User-Agent, X-File-Size, X-Requested-With, If-Modified-Since, X-File-Name, Cache-Control but I don't see these in my headers.     Hi, I have found a way to load exchange 2010 powershell into powershell running on a windows xp workstation, however there are a few commands that need to run. I was wondering how I could load them into a profile somehow. These are the commands that I need to run before I can do any of the exchange things such as Get-Mailbox. COMMAND 1 $session = New-PSSession -Configurationname Microsoft.Exchange –ConnectionUri http://servername/powershell -Credential $user (it prompts you for a username and p/word then the next command) COMMAND 2 Import-PSSession $session Then I am able to run exchange 2010 commands such as Get-Mailbox. Anyway I can load these so that when I click on the powershell shortcut they preload the importing of exchange commands. Thanks

  • Multiple Users use Script to Access Remote Server via Passwordless SSH

    I am currently setting up a linux box that is tied into Active Directory. This box will allow users to SSH into it with their AD username and password to gather information (Box A). The issue is I am trying to create a function in /etc/bash.bashrc so the users has to do is type "get_info" for example, the function will SSH into a remote machine (Box B) run a command and output the information back to the user. The issue with this is, I have generated a rsa key on Box A, added it to the Box B authorized_keys and it works fine. The issue I am running into is, how do I set this up one time for the current users and any new user who logs into Box A. Is there a better approach than what I am currently doing. Essentially I just need to connect to the remote box, run a command, output the information back to the user and that is it. How can I allow new users to connect via a script to the remote box without having to generate RSA keys for them. The get_info fuction will be supplied a value 'get_info 012345' and returns the results.
