What are some Maven project naming conventions for web application module?

When creating a project with the webapp archetype in Maven, they subtly advise not putting any Java source in the webapp project by not including the "src/main/java" folder. What do you name your Maven projects? project-webapp for the project that contains the JSP, CSS, Images, etc. project for the project that contains domain specific entities ? for the project that contains the web application files like Servlets, Listeners, etc. My first inclination would be to use "webapp" for the project containing the web application files (Servlets/Listeners), however the archetype uses "webapp" to convey the JSP/CSS/Images project and would cause confusion to other developers.

impress.js Navigation with active class

I would like to use impress.js in order to make a website, with a navigation bar. In each slide, the corresponding anchor or div must have an "active" class, in order to achieve a different link appearance. I have followed all instructions provided here: https://github.com/Ralt/impress.js/commit/f88feb8cae704ce27bd2168bdb77768f516ac2da#L2R605 but the "active" class on the correct menu must be added. This is the code that generates the menu items. Hi, it seems my styles folder added under the web folder is not getting mapped by dispatcher servlet on my JSP's. I'm refactoring a bit in my Emacs set up and have come to the conclusion that I want to use a different init file than the default one. So basically, in my ~/.emacs file, I have this: (load "/some/directory/init.el") Up until now, that's been working just fine. However, now I want to redefine an old command that I've used for ages, which opens my init file: (defun conf () "Open a buffer with the user init file." (interactive) (find-file user-init-file)) As you can see, this will open ~/.emacs no matter what I do. I want it to open /some/directory/init.el, or wherever the conf command itself is defined. How would I do that?

How do I retrieve and display html/asp/aspx page on different host using jQuery ajax?

I have an html page, which is a dynamically created asp/aspx page on http://host2.mydomain.com. I have no control over the html page. I cannot modify it in any such way. I cannot modify this page; so, setting document.domain is out of the question, unfortunately. I want to retrieve and display this page on http://host1.mydomain.com/page1.jsp using Ajax. FYI: host1 is being served by IIS 7 and Apache Tomcat (for JSP pages). And host2 is using IIS 7 and ASP. How can I retrieve this page using a Ajax POST request? Thank you.

Hi, I am new to Emacs, and I have the following code as a sample. I have installed GNU Emacs 23.1.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.1.7600), installed cedet-1.0pre7.tar.gz. , installed ELPA, and company. You can find my simple Emacs configuration at the bottom. The problem is, when I type q[0] in main() and press . (dot), I see the 37 members of the vector, not Person although first_name and last_name are expected. The completion works as expected in the function greet() but it has nothing to do with vector. Odd problem with IE8 and z-index CSS property

I not been able to put one DIV over his parent DIV in Internet Explorer. With Firefox is working as suposed to. The odd part is that if I open the html file directly in IE, everything works fine. But if I upload to the server and open from there, the div is hidden underneath his parent. I've tried several z-index combinations and none works. Looking for design patterns to isolate framework layers from each other

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience in "isolating" framework objects from each other (Spring, Hibernate, Struts). I'm beginning to see design "problems" where an object from one framework gets used in another object from a different framework. My fear is we're creating tightly coupled objects. For instance, I have an application where we have a DynaActionForm with several attributes...one of which is a POJO generated by the Hibernate Tools. This POJO gets used everywhere...the JSP populates data to it, the Struts Action sends it down to a Service Layer, the DAO will persist it...ack! Now, imagine that someone decides to do a little refactoring on that POJO...so that means the JSP, Action, Service, DAO all needs to be updated...which is kind of painful...There has got to be a better way?! There's a book called Core J2EE Patterns: Best Practices and Design Strategies (2nd Edition)...is this worth a look? I don't believe it touches on any specific frameworks, but it looks like it might give some insight on how to properly layer the application... Thanks!

Does lamda in List.ForEach leads to memory leaks and performance problems ?

I have a problem which I could solve using something like this sortedElements.ForEach((XElement el) => PrintXElementName(el,i++)); And this means that I have in ForEach a lambda which permits using parameters like int i. I like that way of doing it, but i read somewhere that anonymous methods and delegates with lambda leads to a lot of memory leaks because each time when lambda is executed something is instantiated but is not released. Something like that. Could you please tell me if this is true in this situation and if it is why?

Hibernate: getting a record but it's being updated in the database?

For some reason Hibernate seems to be keeping my session open and updating the object without me explicitely invoking a save/update/saveorupdate. I guess the session is staying open and it's beeing marked as dirty. However this is not the desired behaviour, so what's the cleanest way to fix this? The issue seems to occur because I store a phone number without formatting in the database but the getter of the object returns a formatted telephone number. My flow: go to a jsp = controller = service = dao DAO getter function if(userId != 0) { return (User)dbFactory.get(User.class, userId); } return null; The service just passes it to the controller and the controller puts te User object in the request scope. I display it on my JSP page using EL.

Child service not writing to event log

I am having a very simple (but incredibly frustrating) issue with a parent service and the child service. Let's call the parent service "Service A" and the child "Service B". Both services reside on the same box. Using WCF Storm, when I send Service B a message, I see lots of entries in the event viewer for it. However, if I send a message to Service A, which calls Service B, I only see entries from Service A. So for some reason, the child logs are not written when the parent calls it, but if I call it myself, the logs do indeed show up, so I know it's not a problem with the logging or anything like that. Here is what I am using to write to the event log. // in some random static class private static EventLog el = new EventLog(); el.WriteEntry("In " + location + ", " + message); // params passed in Does anyone know why this is happening? Entry points on different urls possible?

Hi, I've got a typical gwt project, but am using some url rewriting techniques such that urls entered like: www.mysite.com/johndoe www.mysite.com/janedoe all get served by my main entrypoint project.jsp file. This works great when deployed. When I'm running in hosted mode, it's a total bummer because changing the url in the browser breaks the link with the hosted-mode debugging, such that when I make changes to the source in eclipse and refresh, those changes are not immediately shown. I need to recompile the app and relaunch, and we all know how long that takes. Is there any way to somehow get the hosted-mode environment to recognize that the same webapp is being served on these different urls, and just reconnect the debugging connection? We basically get: http://localhost:8888/myproject.jsp?gwt.codesvr=192.168.1.2:9997 when launching hosted mode, I'd like: http://localhost:8888/johndoe to just reconnect to the debugger, if possible. detecting returned errors with $.post

I'm using $.post to send a query to a JSP which returns some awesome data for me. If the query is malformed, however, the page returns with "error on page" and an HTTP Status of 500 Internal Server Error in jQuery, how can I detect this error so I can tell the user of the failure? runQuery : function () { $.post( admin_stats.runQueryURL, { buster : Math.random, statsQuery: admin_stats.getQuery(), jsp: 'admin_statsQuery' }, admin_stats.handleStatsQuery, "html" ); the returned data is an HTML table which is sufficient for this project at the moment.
