Is there a way to install and run i386 software packages inside an AMD64 version of Xubuntu (v9.10)? Just to get an idea, how much effort would it require to port it to something usable within the said OS. I imagine it would be a lot.
Thanks! If you need more info (specs, etc.) let me know.
Hi all,
I would like to install CAD software again on my laptop. I used to use Rhinoceros 3d and AutoCAD for most stuff, but that was on the Windows side of things.
What can I do for the Solaris side?

Is there something equivalent to WebDrive but free or open source ?
Update: I want on Windows if possible and be able to save a file on a virtual ftp drive from any software.
I know already I can type "ftp://[email protected]" into an Explorer address as suggested below but that doesn't transform it into a true virtual drive as i cannot save file from notepad for example.

Does anybody know any desktop-software for identi.ca on Windows?
So, I just got a new ENUTV-2 USB TV Tuner Box, and it works fine overall. The driver seems to be OK, but the utility provided by encore doesn't seem to be working 100% in win 7. The only real issue is that I can't mute it, or change the volume level. So I'd like to know:
Is there good (free) software out there for watching TV?
Thanks

I am looking to convert some of .m2ts video files (about 80GB worth) to .mts format which the my current camera is produces natively. Is there any free software that anyone has used that can do this?
I know the .m2ts is the container so I am not sure just doing a rename of the extension to .mts is valid. It works but I am not sure it is actually producing an mts stream.
I am curious what people would recommend as the best software for taking a system information snapshot? This would be for use in a technical support fashion.
I have a router, that has built in hardware firewall capabilities, do I need to install an additional software firewall on my Windows 7 PC like ZoneAlarm?

Hey,
I own a server with 2 hdds and I used a debian raid installation template.
Know I want to reinstall my server and don't want raid anymore to have more space.
My provider wants money to change the template to a non-raid debian one.
Is there a way to disable software raid on linux after a fresh installation?
Thanks
A year ago I stumbled upon a website which provided an online application for building a network online. For example, I entered some urls and phrases, and it automatically searched them for news, inserted the connections between them, etc. I can't find it now.
Do you know such software?
Hi,
1) Is there a way for me to install VirtualBox as a non root user? I compiled it from the sources but cannot find a way to load the kernel modules it requires? Is there anyway to make it run?
2) Is there any other virtualization software you have ever installed on linux successfully as a non root user, VMWare, Parallels, etc.?
The aim is to run Windows as a virtual machine with more than 16GB RAM.

agent.exe process (with the description "Macrovision Software Manager Agent") needs 30-50% CPU usage. After killing the process, it starts again some seconds later.
My virus scanner (OfficeScan) does not report any viruses.
Does anyone have an idea how to resolve it?
I'm after some software to measure the power draw of a HP Server, namely a DL360 series. I know Nagios is used for logging and monitering but I'm not sure if it logs power usage as well. I've also tried to find the HP Server Management package but am not sure if this shows power usage either. I'm thinking my best bet would to buy some sort of device that goes inbetween the wall and the servers plug.
Can anybody suggest what would do for me?
Hello guys, I want to record voice using the built-in Microphone of my laptop, the OS is Windows 7. The built-in recorder of Windows could only record into wav format, and I want to record in mp3 or other compact format for a long time -- around 10 hours. Record only voice is fine.
Any recommendations? Better free software and easy to use.
Thanks in advance!
In my scenario the built in Windows 7 VPN system isn't able to connect using L2TP.
So I would like to find out what people's recommendations are for 3rd Party VPN client software that in particular works on Windows 7 and works well.
Update:
It's a VPN system built into a Check Point firewall.
Hello
It's a software-related question but not development-related :-/
A friend of mine is looking for an equivalent on Macintosh to Visio or SmarDraw to draw plans for home improvements. I don't know anything about Macintosh, so would appreciate any feedback on good softwares for this type of applications.
Thank you.
I'm writing a DVD ripping app and I need to get some sources with multiple angles. Unfortunately, they seem to be rather hard to come by. I figured my best bet would be to author a simple DVD with a multi-angle title.
Does anyone know of any software on Windows that lets you make multi-angle titles? Preferably free or trialware? I don't need it to be super-usable, just enough to make one DVD.
