• Cannot get realtek8188ee to work in 14.04

  I have a Toshiba Satellite C55-A5300 laptop. When I run lspci -nn it shows 02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8188EE Wireless Network Adapter [10ec:8179] (rev 01) It has always had the common problem others have asked about here (and many, many other places on the web) where it would connect, then drop the connection at random intervals. I tried every solution I could find, here & elsewhere, and they always caused errors after running "make" (more details below), but as I could still connect to networks I just dealt with it. I upgraded to 14.04 a few days ago and now it won't connect at all - I need help getting this to work. I also don't know what information one might need from me in order to move forward. I'll be happy to share anything you'd like to know if it results in this thing (finally!) working properly. ETA: I did see this post - Realtek 8188ee wireless driver SOLVED - and it looks like it is discussing the same problem I'm having, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what I had to add the testing repository to my /etc/apt/sources.list means, so I am still stuck.

We called it ... How to Deploy Oracle RAC on Zone Clusters Welllllll ... we just published another article just like it. Except that it's different. The earlier article was for Oracle RAC 11.2.0.2. This one is for Oracle RAC 11.2.0.3. This one describes how to do the same thing as the earlier one --create an Oracle Solaris Zone cluster, install and configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Oracle RAC in the zone cluster, and create an Oracle Solaris Cluster resource for Oracle RAC-- but for version 11.2.0.3 of Oracle RAC. Even though the objective is the same, and the version is only a dot-dot-dot release away, the process is quite different. • How do I free up more space in /boot?

  My /boot partition is nearly full and I get a warning every time I reboot my system. I already deleted old kernel packages (linux-headers...), actually I did that to install a newer kernel version that came with the automatic updates. After installing that new version, the partition is nearly full again. So what else can I delete? Are there some other files associated to the old kernel images? • OBIEE lifetime support

  I just received an email from the Development team explaining the detailed dates when what version of OBIEE will be in what stage of Support. So again for all readers who have not had the chance to look at the  lifetime Support policy from Oracle, I'll  try to explain this in easy words: Any major release is in "error correction support" by Development for another 12 months following the availability of a new major release. Examples: 11.1.1.5.0 was released in May 2011.  => So 11.1.1.3.0 (the version before that) went out of patching support ( or "error correction support" ) 12 months after that, i.e. June 2012. Note here: It went out of error correction support, which means Development will not fix bugs, or issue patches after that. The product can still be supported by Technical Support ( as "best effort support" ).So - Questions will still be answered, but there will not be fixes to bugs or glitches.11.1.1.6.0 was released in February 2012.  => Therefore 11.1.1.5.0 will be out of patching support / error correction support starting March 2013. I hope this clears up some of the questions/concerns that you might have had. Oh, and of course to mention the latest and recommended version to use: 11.1.1.6.0 + 11.1.1.6.5 bundle patch is "just what the doctor ordered".

• Why can't I reinstall MySQL?

  I've been looking all around the Internet for an answer but didn't find anything. I hope you can help me now. I have a server with MySQL. From one day to another, MySQL didn't let me enter with my root password anymore (accsess denied for user 'root'@'localhost' using password: 'YES'). So I tried two ways to reset the password: No.1: I typed: shell> /etc/init.d/mysqld stop To stop MySQL. Then I restarted it skipping the grant-tables: shell> mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables So I was able to log in as root and change the password using: mysql> UPDATE mysql.user SET Password = PASSWORD('MyNewPassword') WHERE User = 'root'; FLUSH PRIVILEGES; I restarted MySQL and tried to log in as root with my new password - didn't work. So I tried the solution that's described here: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html (I don't want to post it here because this post is already pretty long). Didn't work either. Actually it made it worse, because since that day, every time I try to start MySQL, it doesn't even ask me for my password, but I get: shell> ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111) Well, I've looked up what it means and found that my mysqld.sock is missing. I tried to create it using touch but MySQL can't start with that socket. Now I'm trying to reinstall MySQL but everytime I type in shell> apt-get --purge remove mysql-server mysql-common mysql-client In that or any other order or every one of those three alone, I get: shell> Reading package lists... Done shell> Building dependency tree shell> Reading state information...   In both Skype and the Sound Recorder application, I am not capturing any audio from my built-in microphone. I'm not sure why. Otherwise, sound output is working well. I have tried running gstreamer-properties and setting the Default Input plugin to PulseAUdio as well (to match the output), and it didn't help. I have tried running alsamixer -V all and I only get 2 input-related entries: Capture(L R) which is on 100 and not muted (can't be either), and Analog Mic Boost which is on 20db. Extra info: Camera (video) is working well on Skype and Kamerka.   Hi all.. I'm having some trouble exporting to PDF in Telerik Reporting Q2 2008. It seems that for some reason, exporting to PDF ( or printing, which is the same, it first exports to PDF, and then prints ), is giving me this error. First it started with Arial, I found the bug with the font Arial, replaced the textbox with Times New Roman, and it keeps on giving me this error. The strange thing, is that this only happens on the production server ( Windows Server 2008 ), on my development machine, this works flawlessly, I even tried to copy the fonts from my windows font folder, to my production server, but that didn't help anything... Does someone know what is happening? EDIT: Problem solved...a server reboot solved the problem instantly, unfortunately at the time I posted this question I couldn't do a server restart, later that day ( at night ) my boss restarted the server and all was good again..   Hi folks, I'm trying to develop a GUI application for an embedded platform, without any windowing whatsoever and I'm doing that with DirectFB, and it suits my needs very fine. Since the embedded I develop for is not that powerful, I would really like to try to develop on my own Ubuntu desktop. The problem is Framebuffer is conflicting with X.org causing me to leave the whole desktop, and shutdown X.org just to see the result of my changes. Is there a good framebuffer simulator that suits my needs? Qt has one, called QVFb, but it only works for developing Qt apps, and the VNC back-end of DirectFB always crash. So, any ideas?

  I am using the latest version of protobuf-net with VS2008 integration. I have created 2 messages (Message1 and Message2), 1 message in 1 proto file. When I try to reference Message2 in Message1 the code generator tool gives me error "Message2" is not defined and won't generate the code file. The package for both messages is same. It look like that because of the integration of the tool with VS2008 it expects all the messages in same .proto file to compile. Currently I have to paste an empty message with same name in Message1.proto file, like this: message Message1 { optional Message2 message2 = 1; } message Message2 { } And then later on remove the declaration of class Message2 from Message1.cs. Are there any settings that I need to do so to avoid this error, or is providing an empty declaration the only way?

  I'm a developer in charge of managing Webmasters and related issues (including correcting crawl errors) for dozens (hundreds, maybe?) of active sites and as part of my duties I create a report of every discrepancy, including all pages generating a 404 and all pages that link to those pages. Currently within Webmaster Tools I'm able to download a csv file of all pages with a 404 response, but I'm then having to manually click on every single one of those links and copy the "linked from" field to paste into my spreadsheet. This is extremely tedious and seems unnecessary; I would expect the ability to download all that data at once. I'm ultimately looking for the end result of one csv file that has every url with a 404, but also has every url that links to each one of them. Am I overlooking this functionality somewhere or does anyone have a good solution? For example, I'll frequently see that the linked-from url is the sitemap, which is actually an old sitemap cached by Google that points to an old page. Neither the sitemap or old page exist, but they still appear in my crawl error reports because they are cached resources.

• Removing old kernel entries in Grub

  I regularly delete old kernels leaving only the latest two entries using Synaptic. I'm using Precise. However in my Grub "previous Linux version" menu there are quite a few entries labelled 2.6.8.
