    I recently filled out a form and when I got to the phone number textBox I noticed some really cool things going on. As I entered my number, general phone symbols were getting added automatically. Example: I start entering my area code '555' and my input was changed to 1 (555) to test what just happened I backspaced on the ) and it quickly added it back in. So my question is, how do I get this input to happen?

  • Credit card validation with regexp using test()

    I'm trying to complete some homework and it appears the book might have gotten it wrong. I have a simple html page that allows user to pick a credit card in our case american express. The user then enters a number and evalutes that number based on a regular expression. My question ends up being when test() evaluates the number it returns a boolean or a string? I should then compare that string or boolean? True == true should fire off the code in a nested if statement. Heres what the book gives me as valid code: if(document.forms[0].cardName.value == "American Express") { var cardProtocol = new RegExp("^3[47][0-9]{13}$"); //REGEX ENTRY HERE if(cardProtocol.test(document.forms[0].cardNumber.value)) document.forms[0].ccResult.value = "Valid credit card number"; } The above code doesn't work in firefox. Using JQuery: 1.4.1. Having seen other examples online, I can't see what the difference should be. Feel free to test it in FireBug at (http://www.initiat.de/tests/testform/). Any help appreciated, can't see what I'm doing wrong.

    /^\d{1,2}[:][0-5][0-9]$/ is what I have. this limits minutes to 00-59. It does not, however, limit hours to between 0 and 12. For similarity and uniformity I would like to do this with RegEx alone if possible. Further-more I would like the first digit to be optional. i.e. 09:30 accepted as well as 9:30. I played around with ranges, but something out of range is always acceptable.

    I have here a string(an input from the user) for a file path. I checked the string so that it will qualify the criteria: check for invalid characters for a file path will not accept absolute path (\Sample\text.txt) I have tried catching the invalid characters in catch clause. It work except for '\'. It will accept 'C:\\Sample\text.txt' which is an invalid file path. The following examples should be invalid paths: :\text.txt :text.txt \:text.txt \text.txt C:\\\text.txt I have been through similar questions posted here but none of them seemed to solve my issue. What would be the best way to do such check?

I explain the difference between the different types of Ajax calls that you can make with jQuery. I also discuss the differences between the JavaScriptSerializer, the DataContractJsonSerializer, and the JSON.NET serializer.   ASP.NET Validation In-Depth – In this talk, I distinguish between View Model Validation and Domain Model Validation. I demonstrate how you can use the validation attributes (including the new .NET 4.5 validation attributes), the jQuery Validation library, and the HTML5 input validation attributes to perform View Model Validation. I then demonstrate how you can use the IValidatableObject interface with the Entity Framework to perform Domain Model Validation.   Using the MVVM Pattern with JavaScript Views – In this talk, I discuss how you can create single page applications (SPA) by taking advantage of the open-source KnockoutJS library and the ASP.NET Web API.   Be warned that the sample code is contained in Visual Studio 11 Beta projects. If you don’t have this version of Visual Studio, then you will need to open the code samples in Notepad. Also, I apologize for getting the code for these talks posted so slowly.   • What is a good alternative to the WPF WebBrowser Control?

    I have an MDI WPF app that I need to add web content to. At first, great it looks like I have 2 options built into the framework the Frame control and the WebBrowser control. Given that this is an MDI app it doesn't take long to discover that neither of these will work. The WPF WebBrowser control wraps up the IE WebBrowser ActiveX Control which uses the Win32 graphics pipeline. The "Airspace" issue pretty much sums this up as "Sorry, the layouts will not play nice together". Yes, I have thought about taking snapshots of the web content rendering these and mapping the mouse and keyboard events back to the browser control, but I can't afford the performance penalty and I really don't have time to write and thoroughly test it. I have looked for third party controls, but so far I have only found Chris Cavanagh's WPF Chromium Web Browser control. Which wraps up Awesomium 1.5. Together these are very cool, they play nice with the WPF layouts. But they do not meet my performance requirements. They are VERY HEAVY on memory consumption and not to friendly with CPU usage either. Not to mention still quite buggy. I'll elaborate if you are interested. So, do any of you know of a stable performant WPF web browser control? Thanks.

  • jQuery: How to check if a value exists in an array?

    Hello, I am trying to write a simple input field validation plugin at the moment (more of a learning exercise really) and thought this would not be too hard, seeing as all I should have to do is: Get input fields Store them in array with each one's value On submit of form check if array contains any empty strings But I seem to fail at writing something that checks for an empty string (read: input with no text inside) inside my array. Here is the code I have so far: var form = $(this), // passed in form element inputs = form.find('input'), // all of this forms input fields isValid = false; // initially set the form to not be valid function validate() { var fields = inputs.serializeArray(); // make an array out of input fields // start -- this does not work for (var n in fields) { if (fields[n].value == "") { isValid = false; console.log('failed'); } else { isValid = true; console.log('passed'); }; } // end -- this does not work }; // close validate() // TRIGGERS inputs.live('keyup blur', function(event) { validate(); }); Any help with how I can check if one of the fields is blank and if so return a isValid = false would be much appreciated. I also played around with the $.inArray("", fields) but this would never return 0 or 1 even when the console.log showed that the fields had no value. Thanks for reading.

The user is able to navigate from cell to cell within the matrix and I would like to highlight the data in the selected textbox but it doesn't work. I called TextBox.Focus () and TextBox.SelectAll () to achieve the effect but nothing. The Focus () works but the text never gets highlighted. Any help is welcome and appreciated.

  • Using nested error wrappers with jQuery validate plugin

    I am using the jQuery validate plugin. My error labels are styled like tooltips and take many levels of nested divs in order to create. The plugin has a wrapper option that allows for an element type to be specified as a wrapper for the error message, but it's only wrapped once. Is anyone familiar with how to do nested wrapping? This isn't my exact markup, but as an example: <div class="tooltip"> <div> <div> <span class="error">This field is required.</span> </div> </div> </div> * UPDATE * The response from Chris answers my original question, but creates a new problem. The errors are now being displayed as desired, but the plugin fails to clear them. When a failed validation passes, span.error is set to display:none, but the div.tooltip nested wrapper still displays.

  • ASP MVC2 model binding issue on POST

    So I'm looking at moving from MVC 1.0 to MVC 2.0 RTM. One of the conventions I'd like to start following is using the strongly-typed HTML helpers for generating controls like text boxes. However, it looks like it won't be an easy jump. I tried migrating my first form, replacing lines like this: <%= Html.TextBox("FirstName", Model.Data.FirstName, new {maxlength = 30}) %> ...for lines like this: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.Data.FirstName, new {maxlength = 30}) %> Previously, this would map into its appropriate view model on a POST, using the following method signature: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Registration(AccountViewInfo viewInfo) Instead, it currently gets an empty object back. I believe the disconnect is in the fact that we pass the view model into a larger aggregate object that has some page metadata and other fun stuff along with it (hence x.Data.FirstName instead of x.FirstName). So my question is: what is the best way to use the strongly-typed helpers while still allowing the MVC framework to appropriately cast the form collection to my view-model as it does in the original line? Is there any way to do it without changing the aggregate type we pass to the view? Thanks!

  • Dynamically loaded control - how can I access a value in Page_Init

    I am loading a LinkButton dynamically when a user clicks on another LinkButton. I am attaching an event handler to it. When the user clicks on the dynamically loaded LinkButton, the event does not fire. From what I've been reading, I understand this is because when the page posts back the dynamically loaded control no longer exists. It looks like I'm supposed to make sure this control is recreated in Page_Init. The dynamically created LinkButton is dependedent on a value (Product ID). I need someway to access this value so I can properly create the control. ViewState is not accessible and I'm concerned if I use Session it could time out and then that wouldn't help. Any ideas? Also, I hardcoded a Product ID value just for testing, and that still did not cause the event to fire.     I'm using linq to SQL and MVC2 with data annotations and I'm having some problems on validation of some types. For example: [DisplayName("Geplande sessies")] [PositiefGeheelGetal(ErrorMessage = "Ongeldige ingave. Positief geheel getal verwacht")] public string Proj_GeplandeSessies { get; set; } This is an integer, and I'm validating to get a positive number from the form. public class PositiefGeheelGetalAttribute : RegularExpressionAttribute { public PositiefGeheelGetalAttribute() : base(@"\d{1,7}") { } } Now the problem is that when I write text in the input, I don't get to see THIS error, but I get the errormessage from the modelbinder saying "The value 'Tomorrow' is not valid for Geplande sessies." The code in the controller: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(Projecten p) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { _db.Projectens.InsertOnSubmit(p); _db.SubmitChanges(); return RedirectToAction("Index"); } else { SelectList s = new SelectList(_db.Verbonds, "Verb_ID", "Verb_Naam"); ViewData["Verbonden"] = s; } return View(); } What I want is being able to run the Data Annotations before the Model binder, but that sounds pretty much impossible. What I really want is that my self-written error messages show up on the screen. I have the same problem with a DateTime, which i want the users to write in the specific form 'dd/MM/yyyy' and i have a regex for that. but again, by the time the data-annotations do their job, all i get is a DateTime Object, and not the original string. So if the input is not a date, the regex does not even run, cos the data annotations just get a null, cos the model binder couldn't make it to a DateTime. Does anyone have an idea how to make this work?

  • How to call RequiredFieldValidator on client before postback

    I've inherited some code which breaks a page up into tabs using divs. On the first page there are many required field and regex validators. The problem is a user can switch to another tab, trigger a postback and fail the validators on the first page, leaving things in a mess. What I want to be able to do is perform the validation on the first page as a user selects another tab, thus preventing them from moving to a new tab until the first page is valid. <ul> <li><a href="#tab1">Tab 1</a> </li> <li><a href="#tab2" onclick="return isValid();">Tab 2</a></li> <li><a href="#tab3" onclick="return isValid();">Tab 3</a></li> </ul> Where isValid needs to fire off the validators. How can I make this space left outside the rectangle transparent?     Dear all, is it possible for a WPF Label to split itself automatically into several lines? In my following example, the text is cropped at the right. <Window x:Class="..." xmlns="..." xmlns:x="..." Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <Label> `_Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe: all mimsy were the borogoves, and the mome raths outgrabe.</Label> </Grid> </Window> Am I doing something wrong? Taking other controls is unfortunately not a good option, since I need support of access keys. Replacing the Label with a TextBlock (having TextWrapping="Wrap"), and adjusting its control template to recognize access keys would be perhaps a solution, but isn't it an overkill? Edit: having a non-standard style for label will break skinning, so I would like to avoid it if possible.
