• ASP.NET/JavaScript: How to surround an auto generated JavaScript block with try/catch statement

  In the Script documents that asp.net automatically generates how can I surround the whole generated scripts with try/catch statement to avoid 'Microsoft JScript Compilation error' My issue is: i got a DevExpress control (ASPxGridView) that added and set-up in run time, since i activated the grouping functionality in the grid I still get JS error says ';' expected whenever i use (click) on one of grouping/sorting abilities, I activated script Debugging for IE, in the JS code turns out that there is no missing ';' and once i click ignore for the error msg that VS generates every thing works fine, and surly end-user can't see this msg so i figured out if i try/catch the script that may help avoid this error. • My Core Animation block isn't working like I'd expect

  I have a UIView called activityView, which contains two subviews activityIndicator and cancelOperationsButton. These views are embedded in a XIB and wired up to my view controller. I have two methods that deal with activating (showing) and deactivating (hiding) these two subviews: - (void) enableActivityIndicator { [activityIndicator startAnimating]; [cancelOperationsButton setHidden:NO]; } - (void) disableActivityIndicator { [activityIndicator stopAnimating]; [cancelOperationsButton setHidden:YES]; } By themselves, these two methods work fine. To give this a bit of polish, I'd like to add an animation that fades these subviews in and out: - (void) enableActivityIndicator { [activityIndicator startAnimating]; [cancelOperationsButton setHidden:NO]; [UIView beginAnimations:@"fadeIn" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelay:0.0f]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0f]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseIn]; activityView.alpha = 1.0f; [UIView commitAnimations]; } - (void) disableActivityIndicator { [UIView beginAnimations:@"fadeOut" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelay:0.0f]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0f]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseOut]; activityView.alpha = 0.0f; [UIView commitAnimations]; [activityIndicator stopAnimating]; [cancelOperationsButton setHidden:YES]; } But the animations are not working — the subviews just show up or disappear without the parent view's alpha property having an effect on transparency. How should I write these methods to get the fade-in, fade-out effect I am after?

When I'm in editing mode i want to reorder the cell but e when I drag a cell at the bottom of the screen it's allowed to go down as much as the TableView height and down the last tableViewCell. I've only 4 cell and i want that when Im dragging a cell it's not allowed to go down after the fourth cell. Can Anyone help me?!?

• How to check when animation finishes if animation block is

  I have a controller which adds as subviews a custom UIView class called Circle. Let's call a particular instance of Circle, "circle". I have a method in Circle, animateExpand, which expands the circle by animating the view. In the following code (which lives in the controller) I want to alloc and init a circle, add it to a NSMutableArray circleArray, animate the expansion, and at the end of the expansion, i want to remove the object from the array. My attempt: Circle *circle = [[Circle alloc] init]; [circleArray addObject:circle]; [circle animateExpand]; [circleArray removeObjectIdenticalTo:circle]; [circle release]; The problem is [circleArray removeObjectIdenticalTo:circle]; gets called before the animation finishes. Presumbly because the animation is done on a seperate thread. I cant implement the deletion in completion:^(BOOL finished){ }, because the Circle class does not know about a circleArray. Any solutions would be helpful, thanks!

  I am Using CC.Net to run an .exe file after project build is complete and need to pass the project name, publish date/time and user on the command line as paramaters to the .exe. However I can't get cc.net to recognise these a dynamic properties and replace them with the correct values. • How to block the UI during asynchronous operations in WPF

  We have a WPF app (actually a VSTO WPF app). On certain controls there are multiple elements which, when clicked, load data from a web service and update the UI. Right now, we carry out these web requests synchronously, blocking the UI thread until the response comes back. This prevents the user clicking around the app while the data is loading, potentially putting it into an invalid state to handle the data when it is returned. Of course the app becomes unresponsive if the request takes a long time. Ideally, we'd like to have the cancel button active during this time, but nothing else. Is there a clever way of doing this, or will we have to switch the requests to execute asynchronously using backgroundworker and write something that disables all the controls apart from the cancel button while a request is in progress?

  I have a log file that looks like the following: 2010-05-12 12:23:45 Some sort of log entry 2010-05-12 01:45:12 Request XML: <RootTag> <Element>Value</Element> <Element>Another Value</Element> </RootTag> 2010-05-12 01:45:32 Response XML: <ResponseRoot> <Element>Value</Element> </ResponseRoot> 2010-05-12 01:45:49 Another log entry What I want to do is extract the Request and Response XML (and ultimately dump them into their own single files). I had a similar parser that used egrep but the XML was all on one line, not multiple ones like above. The log files are also somewhat large, hitting 500-600 megs a log. Smaller logs I would read in via a PHP script and use regex matching, but the amount of memory required for such a large file would more than likely kill the script. Is there an easy way using the built-in tools on a Linux box (CentOS in this case) to extract multiple lines or am I going to have to bite the bullet and use Perl or PHP to read in the entire file to extract it?

I need a way to either make the quantifier return a concatenated string of all the occurrences, or, ideally, an array of all the occurrences. Idealy, this should be my output: Array ( [0] = Array ( [0] = 42 [1] = 126 ) Array ( [0] = Hello, world! [1] = Welcome! ) ) Is there any way of achieving this, and if not, is there a close alternative? Thanks in advance!

• Looking for jQuery slideshow where a user can hide/show a block of text (link, caption)

  I'm looking to implement a fairly basic jQuery slideshow. One that automatically loops through a set number of images. The snag I'm running into is i'd like to have a little icon in the corner of the picture, that when clicked, brings up a transparent black bar across the bottom with some text and perhaps a link. Has anybody come across anything like this? • iPhone: Using dispatch_after to mimick NSTimer

  Don't know a whole lot about blocks. How would you go about mimicking a repeating NSTimer with dispatch_after? My problem is that I want to "pause" a timer when the app moves to the background, but subclassing NSTimer does not seem to work. I tried something which seems to work.   I love microsoft development products! I hate microsoft browsers... I have made the decision to cut ties with internet explorer until they add support for some common W3 approved items. Namely 'multiple' in forms as well as about 5 other things... and as such I would like to urge my visitors to use a better browser. is there a way to setup an http handler or perhaps something in the asax file to route all ie users to a custom page? • Can not access response.body inside after filter block in Sinatra 1.0

  I'm struggling with a strange issue. According to http://github.com/sinatra/sinatra (secion Filters) a response object is available in after filter blocks in Sinatra 1.0. However the response.status is correctly accessible, I can not see non-empty response.body from my routes inside after filter. I have this rackup file: config.ru require 'app' run TestApp Then Sinatra 1.0.b gem installed using: gem install --pre sinatra And this is my tiny app with a single route: app.rb require 'rubygems' require 'sinatra/base' class TestApp < Sinatra::Base set :root, File.dirname(__FILE__) get '/test' do 'Some response' end after do halt 500 if response.empty? # used 500 just for illustation end end And now, I would like to access the response inside the after filter. When I run this app and access /test URL, I got a 500 response as if the response is empty, but the response clearly is 'Some response'. Along with my request to /test, a separate request to /favicon.ico is issued by the browser and that returns 404 as there is no route nor a static file. But I would expect the 500 status to be returned as the response should be empty. In console, I can see that within the after filter, the response to /favicon.ico is something like 'Not found' and response to /test really is empty even though there is response returned by the route. What do I miss?
