  • GAE images.resize with fixed proportional crop

    I need to resize and crop to exactly 60x80px from various size and aspect ratio. Just before i put into Datastore. Anyone already got this issue resolved. Currently i already succed to just transform it to exact height (80px) with various width which nott look so good when i try to display it on a list. e.g jcaroussel.   • Storing a list of objects in GAE

    I need to store some data that looks a little like this: xyz 123 abc 456 hij 678 rer 838 Now I would just store it as a traditional string and integer model, and put in the datastore. But the data changes regularly, and is ONLY relevant when looked at as a COLLECTION. So it needs to be store as either a list of lists, or a list of objects, both of which can't really be done without pickling as far as I know. Can anyone help? Even storing it as a text file may work :S

    Hi I use KML for a google map where entities have a geopt.db coordinate and soft memory limit was exceeded with 213.465 MB after servicing 1 requests total.     Generally I use lxml for my HTML parsing needs, but that isn't available on Google App Engine. The obvious alternative is BeautifulSoup, but I find it chokes too easily on malformed HTML. Currently I am testing libxml2dom and have been getting better results. Which pure Python HTML parser have you found performs best? My priority is the ability to handle bad HTML over speed.

  • GAE Having Tasks generate pages for user

    I have a web app that I would like to have the following functionality: user gives a url webapp gets json data from that url and others from same website (this can take anywhere from 1-10 seconds) webapp uses data to generate page for user With this approach, I believe that if the server is in the process of getting the data for one user, then the other user won't be able to load the page (server busy). I would like to avoid this if possible. It seems like the Google Tasks API would be useful for this, but I don't see how I can run the task, and then use the output of the task to generate the page (how would the main app know when the task was finished?) What is the best way to resolve this? Thanks in advance

    I know what you're thinking, 'O not that again!', but here we are since Google have not yet provided a simpler method. I have been using a queue based solution which worked fine: import datetime from models import * DELETABLE_MODELS = [Alpha, Beta, AlphaBeta] def initiate_purge(): for e in config.DELETABLE_MODELS: deferred.defer(delete_entities, e, 'purging', _queue = 'purging') class NotEmptyException(Exception): pass def delete_entities(e, queue): try: q = e.all(keys_only=True) db.delete(q.fetch(200)) ct = q.count(1) if ct > 0: raise NotEmptyException('there are still entities to be deleted') else: logging.info('processing %s completed' % queue) except Exception, err: deferred.defer(delete_entities, e, then, queue, _queue = queue) logging.info('processing %s deferred: %s' % (queue, err)) All this does is queue a request to delete some data (once for each class) and then if the queued process either fails or knows there is still some stuff to delete, it re-queues itself. This beats the heck out of hitting the refresh on a browser for 10 minutes. However, I'm having trouble deleting AlphaBeta entities, there are always a few left at the end. I think because it contains Reference Properties: class AlphaBeta(db.Model): alpha = db.ReferenceProperty(Alpha, required=True, collection_name='betas') beta = db.ReferenceProperty(Beta, required=True, collection_name='alphas') I have tried deleting the indexes relating to these entity types, but that did not make any difference. Any advice would be appreciated please.

    Hi, I'm have a parent-child relation between 2 classes, but the child objects are never stored. I do get an warning: "org.datanucleus.store.appengine.MetaDataValidator checkForIllegalChildField: Unable to validate relation net.vermaas.kivanotify.model.UserCriteria.internalCriteria" but it is unclear to me why this occurs. Already tried several alternatives without luck. The parent class is "UserCriteria" which has a List of "Criteria" as children.     Hi all, I know that I can use annotation or Request mapping to restrict access to an ACTION by some specific ROLES. But now I have a different circumstance. My scenario is: every user of my site can create posts, and they can make their own post public, private, or only share to some other users. I implement sharing post by a database table PERMISSION, which specify if a user have the right to view a post or not. The problem arises here is that when a customer access a post through a direct link, how can I determine he/she have the privilege to view it? There's 3 circumstances: The post is public, so it can be viewed by anyone (include not-login user) The post is private, so only the login-owner can view it The post is sharing, it means only the login-user that is shared and the owner can view it. I want to process like this: If the requested post is public: ok. If the requested post is private/sharing: I want to redirect the customer to the login page; after logging in, the user will be re-direct to the page he wants to see. The problem here is that I can redirect the user to login controller/ auth action, but after that I don't know how to redirect it back. The link to every post is different by post_id, so I can't use SpringSecurityUtils.securityConfig.successHandler.defaultTargetUrl Could anyone know a way to do this?

    I've the following code to fetch events: $('#calendar').fullCalendar({ theme: true, slotMinutes: 10, header: { left: 'prev,next today', center: 'title', right: 'month,agendaWeek,agendaDay', }, defaultView: 'agendaDay', allDaySlot: false, editable: false, events: "/cgi-bin/shlk/getshlkruns.pl" }); The output from getshlkruns.pl is fairly simple json feed: [{'title': 'Successful','start': 1266398223,'end': 1266398266,'url': '/shlk/cgi-bin/getshlkrunlog.pl?i=21'}] There are several events like above (i've removed for brevity sake). So the above events show up when am in the month view but mysteriously absent when am in week or day view. What am doing wrong here? Thanks in advance for your answers.

    I have a minifb app (technically gminifb) running on Google App Engine with a bunch of handlers for processing all kinds of requests from a Silverlight client. What's the recommended approach for adding the FB GET variables, such as fb_sig, to the HTTP requests? I believe I can technically pass the session key and uid directly and get things to work but it seems there's probably a much better way to do this. I was reading about FBJS AJAX and I'm trying to figure out how I can use it to proxy the HTTP requests from the Silverlight client through it. Is this a good way to do it? And if so, how would I go about doing so? Any other recommendations would be appreciated too. Thanks,

All the values are correct for icontact and if I submit the form as usual, icontact responds that it added the email address. The success message loads in a new page from icontact's website.     I have a ClassA containing an ArrayList of another ClassB I can save a new instance of ClassA with ClassB instances also saved using JDO. However, When I retrieve the instance of Class A, I try to do like the below: ClassA instance = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager().GetObjectByID( someid ); instance.GetClassBArrayList().add( new ClassB(...) ); I get an Exception like the below: Uncaught exception from servlet com.google.appengine.api.datastore.DatastoreNeedIndexException: no matching index found.. So I was wondering, Is it possible to add a new item to the previously saved collection? Or was it something I missed out. Best Regards
