paypal IPN php script

I just realized that my paypal ipn handler in php doesn't work anymore (and I change nothing), I use the sample php script provided by paypal. How can I use multithreading in a Windows Forms application to update a progress bar?

There are two objects. The Windows Form with a button and a progress bar, and another object that handles an algorithm. In the algorithm object there is an event, and a property. The event is ProgressChanged, and the property is Progress (which is an int). In the calling window, the button starts off a set of steps in the algorithm object. As each step (or substeps) occurs, the ProgressChanged event fires, and in the window there is an event handler that essentially increments the progress bar relative to the Progress property. The problem I am running into is that because the algorithm has a possibility (and high liklihood) of running a relatively long time, I need to move it into it's own background thread and push the event back up to the window. My issue is that I'm not completely sure what I'm doing when it comes to multi-threading. I've looked at Control.Invoke and I'm a little lost. Can someone point me in the right direction?

MySQL transaction conundrum

I need to perform several inserts in a single atomic transaction. For example: start transaction; insert ... insert ... commit; However when MySQL encounters an error it aborts only the particular statement that caused the error. For example, if there is an error in the second insert statement the commit will still take place and the first insert statement will be recorded. Thus, when errors occur a MySQL transaction is not really a transaction. To overcome this problem I have used an error exit handler where I rollback the transaction. Now the transaction is silently aborted but I don't know what was the problem. So here is the conundrum for you: How can I both make MySQL abort a transaction when it encounters an error, and pass the error code on to the caller?

How can I get sessions to work if I'm using Google App Engine + Django 1.1?

Is there a way for me to get sessions working? I know Django has built in session management, and GAE has some tools for it if you're using their watered down version of Django 0.96, but is there a way to get sessions to work if you're trying to use GAE w/ Django 1.1 (i.e. use_library() call). I assume using a db-backed session doesn't work, and a file system backed one won't work b/c we don't have access to the filesystem if we deploy to the Google production servers. This kinda worked (as in didn't crap out) when I used SessionMiddleware backed by a local-memory backed cache and a non-persistent cache (i.e. setting SESSION_ENGINE to django.contrib.sessions.backends.cache). But the session never seems to persist in this case, no matter how I set the timeouts. A new session key is generated on every page reload. Maybe this is b/c the GAE assumes complete statelessness with each request and blows away my local cache? Apologies in advance, I'm pretty new to Python. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Catching / Redirecting 404's (ASP.NET)

Ive noticed that when I request a page in ASP.NET (webforms) that does not exist, the 'StaticFile' handler deals with the error notification. Id like to be a bit more helpful in these situations. What is the correct way for me to intercept this 404, and as a result, run some code to redirect the user? Two ways Ive thought of doing which I currently don't really like are: 1 - Create a module that basically does a if (!file.exists($url){redirect to $correctedurl}) 2 - Modify the error.aspx.cs(or the default error page) to do something similar (yuck!)

PuTTY inserts random characters during a session

I recently started renting space on a remote server so that I could work on a project. I found that a relatively painless way to access it on a windows machine is through PuTTY. However, there is one thing that has always irked me when using it: for seemingly no reason random characters are sometimes inserted at the cursor. Most of the time it is just a single tilde, but rarely it spits out what looks like some escape sequence ([[^8 or the like). It will only occur when I am focused on the window, whether I am typing or 20 feet away from the keyboard. If left for long enough, it will spit tildes at random intervals (average is about 1 minute). Finally, this behavior seems to be inconsistant when running programs such as nano or the mysql interface: in nano, instead of inserting tildes, it will set marks (ctrl-^); in mysql, lines will become un-editable. My question is this: Has anyone else experienced this sort of behavior in PuTTY? And if so, what can be done to prevent/correct this behavior?

New security options in UCM Patch Set 3

While the Patch Set 3 (PS3) release was mostly focused on bug fixes and such, some new features sneaked in there. One of those new features is to the security options. In 10gR3 and prior versions, UCM had a component called Collaboration Manager which allowed for project folders to be created and groups of users assigned as members to collaborate on documents. With this component came access control lists (ACL) for content and folders. Users could assign specific security rights on each and every document and folder within a project. And it was even possible to enable these ACL's without having the Collaboration Manager component enabled (see technote# 603148.1). When 11g came out, Collaboration Manager was no longer available. But the configuration settings to turn on ACLs were still there. Well, in PS3 they're implemented slightly differently. And there is a new component available which adds an additional dimension to define security on the object, Roles. So now instead of selecting individual users or groups of users (defined as an Alias in User Admin), you can select a particular role. And if a user has that role, they are granted that level of access. This can allow for a much more flexible and manageable security model instead of trying to manage with just user and group access as people come and go in the organization. The way that it is enabled is still through configuration entries. First log in as an administrator and go to Administration -> Admin Server. On the Component Manager page, click the 'advanced component manager' link in the description paragraph at the top. In the list of Disabled Components, enable the RoleEntityACL component. Then click the General Configuration link on the left. In the Additional Configuration Variables text area, enter the new configuration values: UseEntitySecurity=true SpecialAuthGroups=<comma separated list of Security Groups to honor ACLs> The SpecialAuthGroups should be a list of Security Groups that honor the ACL fields. If an ACL is applied to a content item with a Security Group outside this list, it will be ignored. Save the settings and restart the instance. Upon restart, three new metadata fields will be created: xClbraUserList, xClbraAliasList, xClbraRoleList. If you are using OracleTextSearch as the search indexer, be sure to run a Fast Rebuild on the collection. On the Check In, Search, and Update pages, values are added by simply typing in the value and getting a type-ahead list of possible values. Select the value, click Add and then set the level of access (Read, Write, Delete, or Admin). If all of the fields are blank, then it simply falls back to just Security Group and Account access. For Users and Groups, these values are automatically picked up from the corresponding database tables. In the case of Roles, this is an explicitly defined list of choices that are made available. These values must match the role that is being defined from WebLogic Server or you LDAP/AD repository. To add these values, go to Administration -> Admin Applets -> Configuration Manager. On the Views tab, edit the values for the ExternalRolesView. By default, 'guest' and 'authenticated' are added. Once added to through the view, they will be available to select from for the Roles Access List. As for how they are stored in the metadata fields, each entry starts with it's identifier: ampersand (&) symbol for users, "at" (@) symbol for groups, and colon (:) for roles. Following that is the entity name. And at the end is the level of access in paranthesis. e.g. (RWDA). And each entry is separated by a comma. So if you were populating values through batch loader or an external source, the values would be defined this way. After filtering and retrieving the records most of the time (if not always) we have to sort the record in certain order. The sort order is very important for displaying records or major calculations. In LINQ for sorting data the order keyword is used. With the help of the order keyword we can decide on the ordering of the result set that is retrieved after the query. Below is an simple example of the order keyword in LINQ. string[] words = { "cherry", "apple", "blueberry" }; var sortedWords = from word in words orderby word select word; Here we are ordering the data retrieved based on the string ordering. If required the order can also be made on any of the property of the individual like the length of the string. var sortedWords = from word in words orderby word.Length select word; You can also make the order descending or ascending by adding the keyword after the parameter. var sortedWords = from word in words orderby word descending select word; But the best part of the order clause is that instead of just passing a field you can also pass the order clause an instance of any class that implements IComparer interface. The IComparer interface holds a method Compare that Has to be implemented. In that method we can write any logic whatsoever for the comparision. Can't set up IIS Web Server on Server 2008 x64 correctly

Using a VM I installed Windows 2008 Server x64 and as the image below shows, added the IIS Role full image and assigned all role features of IIS full image But if I have an ASP.NET (aspx) page that does (C#) Session["test-session"] = "A"; and read in other page I always get nothing! NOTE: I do have an entire ASP.NET web application, the example above is to be succinct and explicit on what is the problem I'm facing. Can anyone know what do I have to do to the Server, so I can use the Session variables? All help is greatly appreciated, Thank you

Firefox Add-on for Opening Pages in Separate "Sandboxes"

Is there a Firefox add-on that will allow someone to easily open up a page in a new tab or window so it will not share cookies and other session information with other windows? Basically, I want to be able to run Facebook, GMail, Google Search, etc, in separate sandboxes using different accounts. I recall seeing a blog posting about an add-on that did this without forcing you to set up different Firefox profiles, but I can't remember where I saw it or what it was called.

Using wget to download pdf files from a site that requires cookies to be set

I want to access a newspaper site and then download their epaper copies (in PDF). The site requires me to login using my email address and password and then it permits me to access those PDF URLs. I'm having trouble 'setting my session' in wget. Set up printing with a networked LPR printer?

I'm trying to set up printing to a networked LPR printer, but I can't seem to make it work. The connexion information that IT gives is: Print Spooler: printing.domain.edu Printer Name: PrinterName Print port: 515 Bidirectional: Disabled It's an HP LaserJet p4015x, and I'm using the "HP LaserJet p4015x, hpcups 3.10.6 (color, 2-sided printing)" driver, according to CUPS. I have tried installing via the CUPS admin interface as lpd://printing.domain.edu:515/PrinterName, lpd://printing.domain.edu/PrinterName, and http://printing.domain.edu:515/PrinterName, and none of these has worked (i.e. test pages show up as "stopped").

How to set selinux?

I installed selinux first, I set SELINUX=enforcing instead of its original value, SELINUX=permissive in /etc/selinux/config, then I reboot my computer. I waited for some time, but it stopped, I rebooted again and it can not go into the system anymore so I restored the setting. I tried to run seinfo command in a terminal, but it output some errors below: ERROR: policydb version 26 does not match my version range 15-24 ERROR: Unable to open policy /etc/selinux/ubuntu/policy/policy.26. ERROR: Input/output error It seems that there is a little difference on how to start up selinux between CentOS and Ubuntu, can you help me configure selinux in Ubuntu?

Cannot set a credential for principal 'sa'

I was trying to change the SA password on my development server this morning and got an error. Msg 15535, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot set a credential for principal 'sa'. It was a little frustrating to get an error for a seemingly simple task but then agian maybe I screwed something up. After doing a couple of searches i found a Microsoft KB (support.microsoft.com/kb/956177) "You receive an exception in SQL Server 2008 when you try to modify the properties of the SQL Server Administrator account by using SQL Server Management Studio". It was for SQL 2008 but it worked for my SQL 2005 sp3 server just fine. You have to click the Map to Credential check box but you don't have to add any credetials just click the OK button to complete and that's it.

Im setting up a combined website and extranet currently, they both read from the same database on the same server as the site is hosted on. The reason being that the website is fed from the data that the staff plug into the extranet interface. it also links in to AD for authorising access to the extranet. I have the extranet in a folder within the website folder. What I want to do is only allow the extranet to be accessed from computers within our LAN, but allow the main website to be freely accessible to internet users. I have it set up as a generic web server currently, so anyone can view anything (well up to the point where the user is asked to log into the extranet of course! I have read a lot on this but nothing I read applies to, or works in IIS7.5

How do I set up FTP on localhost?

On my old machine (back on Lucid!) I used XAMPP for local dev work. XAMPP installed everything for you, including setting up FTP to your localhost (/var/www) directory, since permissions don't allow you to write directly to it. I have a new machine running Precise, and decided to do things the grown-up way. I installed everything using tasksel, and got apache, php, mysql, and phpmyadmin up and running. But it's kind of a pain to have to create and edit all my files via gksudo gedit on the command line, and sooner or later I'm going to have to upload images. How can I set up FTP so that I can "upload" files to my localhost server?

my desktop CMOS battery is not working, therefore I have to set time and date each time my computer starts up. I want to create a shell script to automate the setting of date and time on my computer after each boot is complete. options that exist include: 1. buying a CMOS battery :- am considering this, but for the meantime a shell script will do. 2. using NTP to synchronize time and date with internet servers :- am not connected to the internet.
