  • SEO Impact of using Responsive Design and the serving of different content on the same URL

    - by bmenekl
We are currently working on redesigning our site and making it responsive. It is a search intensive site with complex functionality, a lot of search filters and a lot of content. Our mobile versions of certain pages need to hide some functionality (i.e. search filters) that exists in the desktop version and/or content (mainly blocks of text that are not necessary or are increasing page load in mobile devices). My questions is this: does the situation of having the same URL (responsive site) serving slightly different content (text and/or search filters) for certain pages in different devices affect our SEO (SERPs or otherwise)?

  • OutOfBounds Exception when creating a PolygonShape using jbox2d

    - by B3nGr33ni3r
So here's the deal, i'm parsing a file that contains the vertices for a polygon, that i want to create in box2d. I create a new PolygonShape() and then call .set() giving it a defined array of Vec, and that defined array's .length property. I expected this to work, since the documentation for jbox2d says this method takes a Vec array, and the count of Vec objects in that array. However, it errors out, and it seems to be unrelated to my code. The error i get is Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 8 at org.jbox2d.collision.shapes.PolygonShape.set(PolygonShape.java:174) and, upon looking at that line in the jbox2d svn repository, i still cannot figure out the issue. Any help is appreciated!

  • Crash when using datablocks

    - by scorcher24
I have really throughly searched the net and could not find any solution for this so I ask for help here. Anyway, I have this datablock in datablocks.cs: datablock t2dSceneObjectDatablock(EnemyShipConfig) { canSaveDynamicFields = "1"; Layer = "3"; size = "64 64"; CollisionActiveSend = "1"; CollisionActiveReceive = "1"; CollisionCallback = true; CollisionLayers = "3"; CollisionDetectionMode = "POLYGON"; CollisionPolyList = "0.00 -0.791 0.756 0.751 -0.746 0.732"; UsesPhysics = "0"; Rotation = "-90"; WorldLimitMode = "KILL"; WorldLimitMax = "880 360"; WorldLimitMin = "-765 -436"; minFireRate = "2000"; maxFireRate = "1200"; laserSpeed = "800"; minSpeed = "100"; maxSpeed = "150"; }; This is an exact reproduction of an object that I have manually edited in the editor. So far, I just used clone() to get as many enemies as I need, while it was out of sight. It is a r-type style shooter, so I need a variable amount of enemies. Since clone() spams my log, I decided to use datablocks, since it is also more flexible. That's what I get when I use clone(): Con::execute - 0 has no namespace: onRemoveFromScene However, once spawning begins, my game freezes and crashes: function SpawnEnemy() { //%spawnedEnemy = EnemyShipMaster.clone(true); %spawnedEnemy = new t2dStaticSprite() { class = "EnemyShip"; sceneGraph = $global_sceneGraph; datablock = "EnemyShipConfig"; imageMap = "starshipImageMap"; layer = 3; }; %speed = getRandom(%spawnedEnemy.minSpeed, %spawnedEnemy.maxSpeed); %y = getRandom(-320, 320); // Set Properties %spawnedEnemy.setPositionX(700); %spawnedEnemy.setPositionY(%y); %spawnedEnemy.setVisible(true); %spawnedEnemy.setLinearVelocityX( -%speed ); %spawnedEnemy.setTimerOn( getRandom( %spawnedEnemy.maxFireRate, %spawnedEnemy.minFireRate ) ); } // Definition of $global_sceneGraph from game.cs: $global_sceneGraph = sceneWindow2D.loadLevel(%level); As I said, it works fine when I use clone() (which is commented out here), but my log gets spammed. I really hope someone can shed some light for me, this is driving me crazy.

  • Using F# in SQLCLR

    - by nielsb
Recently I have become very interested in F# and I am at the moment trying to get to grips with it. It is definitely a different beast than C#, but so far I like it – a lot! So to get into it I thought I would combine it with something I have some knowledge about: SQLCLRRead all about it here.Subscribe to my RSS feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/manageddata.Follow me on twitter as: @nielsberglund

  • Using onboard and pci-e graphics card at the same time

    - by Endle
Hello wonderful people. I know there are several other posts with similar questions. I also know how to use Google. I also have read up on posts discussing bumblebee, crossfire, ati catylist and many other interesting topics. I would just like someone to give me advice on how to use the onboard and pci-e graphics at the same time. I know the computer is capable of doing this. It works in Windows. I can use the VGA and DVI onboard port and the HDMI port of the add on card all at the same time. Works great in Windows 7, In Ubuntu, it seems only one or the other will work. I can use any combination of two displays on either adapter: VGA and HDMI..HDMI and DVI..so forth and so on. I have started experimenting with xorg.conf files, but have not been able to get any of them to work. Here is my last attempt at writing an xorg.conf file: Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "X.org Configured" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 Screen 1 "Screen1" LeftOf "Screen0" Screen 2 "Screen2" LeftOf "Screen1" InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer" InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Onboard Video" Driver "radeon" BusID "PCI:01:05.0" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Graphics Card" Driver "radeon" BusID "PCI:02:00.0" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "CRT2" Option "VendorName" "ViewSonic" Option "ModelName" "Generic Autodetecting Monitor" Option "DPMS" "true" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "DVI1" VendorName "ACR" ModelName "P224W" Option "DPMS" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "DVI2" Option "VendorName" "Acer" Option "ModelName" "Generic Autodetecting Monitor" Option "DPMS" "true" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Device "Onboard Video" Monitor "CRT2" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1280x1024" EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen1" Device "Graphics Card" Monitor "DVI1" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1920x1080" EndSubSection

  • Using OpenCl to jiggle the Pipe

    - by TOAOGG
I've got the Idea to use OpenCL to program a simple Renderer. A clear contra is, that this approach won't benefit from the hardware as the functions on the device (I think). Would it be useful to do this in OpenCL..lets say we want to Cull as early as possible so we won't have many per vertex operations. Is it correct, that Culling is done after the Vertex-Shader? For static-vertecies who won't get effected by the shader it could be interesting to cull them before. Another idea would be an deferred renderer. So the main question is: Would it make sense to program a renderer in OpenCL (aside the effort)? The resulting picture would be drawn in OpenGL.

  • Using URL Rewrite with QDIG

    - by The Official Microsoft IIS Site
One of the applications that I like to use on my websites it the Quick Digital Image Gallery (QDIG) , which is a simple PHP-based image gallery that has just enough features to be really useful without a lot of work on my part to get it working. (Simple is always better - ;-] .) Here's a screenshot of QDIG in action with some Bing photos: (Click to enlarge photo.) The trouble is, QDIG creates some really heinous query string lines; see the URL line in the following screenshot for an example:...(read more)

  • Reliability Monitor is the Best Windows Troubleshooting Tool You Aren’t Using

    - by The Geek
When it comes to hidden gems in Windows, nothing beats the Reliability monitor tool, hidden behind a link inside of another tool that you don’t use either. Why Microsoft doesn’t shine more light on this really useful troubleshooting tool, we’ll never know. Reliability Monitor tracks the history of your computer — any time an application crashes, hangs, or Windows gives you a blue screen of death. It also tracks other important events, like when software is installed, or Windows Updates loads a new patch. It’s an extremely useful tool. And yes, it’s in Windows 7 and 8… and even 8.1. It might be in Vista, but who uses that anymore?

  • Using Enums for comparing string values in Switch

    - by kaleidoscope
Problem Scenario: There is an enum keeping track of operations to be performed on a table Public Enum PartitionKey { Createtask, Updatetask, Deletetask } User is entering the value for the operation to be performed and the code to check the value entered in switch case. Switch (value) {           case PartitionKey.Createtask.ToString():          {          Create();          break;          }          case PartitionKey.Updatetask.ToString():          {           Update();           break;          }          case PartitionKey.Deletetask.ToString():          {           Delete();          break;          } } and it displays as error as “.” Solution: One of the possible implmentation is as below. Public Enum PartitionKey: byte { Createtask, Updatetask, Deletetask } Switch ((PartitionKey)(Int32.Parse(value))) {          case PartitionKey.Createtask:          {                   Create();                   break;          }          case PartitionKey.Updatetask:          {                    Update();                   break;          }          case PartitionKey.Deletetask:          {                    Delete();                   break;          }          default:          {                   break;          } } Technorati Tags: Enum,A Constant Value is required,Geeta,C#

  • SSIS Basics: Using the Merge Join Transformation

SSIS is able to take sorted data from more than one OLE DB data source and merge them into one table which can then be sent to an OLE DB destination. This 'Merge Join' transformation works in a similar way to a SQL join by specifying a 'join key' relationship. this transformation can save a great deal of processing on the destination. Annette Allen, as usual, gives clear guidance on how to do it.

  • Problem using python QPID and gevent together [closed]

    - by William Payne
I have a python script that pulls messages from an Apache QPID queue, and then uses gevent to perform (IO-bound) tasks on those messages in parallel. The queue that this script pulls from was recently changed: I suspect the version of the C++ QPID broker changed, although I cannot verify this at the present time. Now, my process deadlocks and hangs upon QPID queue creation. I strongly suspect that this is a result of an incompatibility with gevent, although I have not done the work yet to produce a minimal example to demonstrate the problem. (Next on my list). Does anybody else have experience of getting gevent and QPID to work together? or Has anybody else seen the same issues?
