  What is the proper way to terminate a Swing application from the code, and what are the pitfalls? I'd tried to close my application automatically after a timer fires. But just calling dispose() on the JFrame didn't do the trick - the window vanished but the application did not terminate. However when closing the window with the close button, the application does terminate. What should I do?

  Dear Cocoa Developers, I'm creating a backgrounded cocoa application. The only thing that it's missing is the ability to take text inputs! I'm making the application backgrounded by setting "Application is background only" in the Info.plist But no matter what I do I can't make any window the keyWindow. makeKeyWindow makeKeyAndOrderFront Both don't work...   A custom windows form control named 'tweet' is in a dll. The custom control has couple of basic controls to display a tweet. I add this custom control to my main application. This custom control has a button named "retweet", when some user clicks this "retweet" button, i need to send some message to the main application.   Is there a way to monitor when an application that is using the dll closes? The DLL and the application are both C#, neither are Windows Forms. I can check when the main application is closing, but I would like for the DLL to see "hey the program is closing and releasing me, I should do this real quick before I die". Any way to do it? Or am I stuck having the application dish out "do this before you die"?

  I have a web application which runs on IIS 6.0 and it has a thread that runs on the applicaion startup. That thread will run continously after the application startup with a sleep time of 10 seconds (This will update the application cache from getting the data from DB). But once the application is idle for more than 1 hour this thread is no longer running. Please give me a solution for continously run this thread.

  Hi, iPhone app shuts down when ever any call accepted by user. When call ends, app will resume. I want to capture that event when app resumes after call ends. Dont know how would I know that user is coming back after receiving a call.

I have converted my application into a windows servise. When i try to start my service it shows this error Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly Is it because my program throws an exception when my application is started before the rmiregistry is started.

  Our ClickOnce application is reporting "Unable to install or run the application. The application requires stdole Version 7.0.3300.0 in the GAC" when one user tries to run the application. It's interesting to note that the GAC (c:\windows\asssembly) does not have stdole installed in it. Any ideas how to get it there? We are using .NET 3.5 and it has been installed on this computer.
