  • How to get html/css/jpg pages server by both apache & tomcat with mod_jk

    I've apache2 and tomcat6 both running on port 80 with mod_jk setup on ubutnu servers. I had to setup an error document 503 ErrorDocument 503 /maintenance.html in the apache configuration and somehow I managed to get it work and the error page is server by apache when tomcat is stopped. Developers created a good looking error page(an html page which calls css and jpg) and I'm asked to get this page served by apache when tomcat is down. When I tried with JkUnMount /*.css in the virtual hosting, the actual tomcat jsp pages didn't work properly(lost the format) as the tomcat applications uses jsp, css, js, jpg and so on. I'm trying if it is possible to get .css and .jpg served by both apache and tomcat so that when the tomcat is down I'll get css and jpg serverd by apache and the proper error document is served. Anyone has any technique? This is a very nice feature that can be useful in many websites.In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application.   • How to combine a relative top with an absolute bottom in CSS?

    I need to define a div which must stay with the top at the normal position, which differs from the top of the surrounding element: position:relative top:0 and which grows in the height up to the size of the surrounding element: position:absolute bottom:0 I have no idea how to combine the both. Whenever I use a relative box I loose the absolute bottom and whenever I use an absolute box I loose the relative top. Can anybody help me how to do this in CSS?   • How can I get IE8 to accept a css :before tag?

    I have the following CSS code .editable:before { content: url(../images/icons/icon1.png); padding-right:5px; } this is used in conjuntion with the following markup: <span class="editable"></span> In every other blessed browser in the world my icon is appearing, but IE8 seems to have a problem with this. Isn't the :before pseudo-element CSS2? isn't content: also a CSS2 command? what gives?

    I have a HTML page which references external stylesheets and shows some images. I'm looking for an easy way to include all referenced external resources in the HTML file directly, so that it doesn't have any external references any more. (Images should be included in the HTML file using the <img src="data:image/jpg;base64,[...] method). EDIT: I want to do this so that my web proxy can deliver a nice-looking error page if the backend is down, so I have to assume all my webservers cannot deliver the static content which would normally be linked to from my websites (CSS, images).

  • wordpress sites are slow on shared hosting but plain html/css sites are fast

    ive got a shared hosting account, unlimited sites, unlimited gb, unlimited bandwidth ect ect. Of course because its shared and a cheap one at that theres too many sites on each server and it all runs slow due to lack of ram. What ive found is that my plain html/css/js sites run an awful lot faster than my wordpress sites on this hosting and i was trying to work out why. Im not exactly sure how a browser sends a request for a page and the full process of request and delivery, but are my html sites running faster as they are just serving code to the browser, where as the wordpress sites are having to make calculations from the database to make each page before its delivered .. is that correct, or am i completly off course ?

  • Adjust CSS of all cells of a specific table without giving each cell a unique id?

    Is there any way to modify the CSS properties of one table's cells based on the table's ids, rather than specific child ids? I would like to change one table's appearance (giving each cell a colored border, for instance) one way, and another table another way, but I'd like to avoid specifying an id for each cell. To be clear, I don't need to individually access each cell in the table - I just want to set all of the properties of "child" cells of various tables.

    By default, when you print a web page, the page title and and URL are printed at the top of the page, and likewise the date and time are printed at the bottom. It is possible to remove this additional as you are printing through the PAGE SETUP menu (under FILE in Internet Exp) Does anyone know of a way of doing this via CSS or javascript?

    Getting attributes using minidom in Python, one uses the "attributes" property. e.g. node.attributes["id"].value So if I have <a id="foo"></a>, that should give me "foo". node.attributes["id"] does not return the value of the named attribute, but an xml.dom.minidom.Attr instance. But looking at the help for Attr, by doing help('xml.dom.minidom.Attr'), nowhere is this magic "value" property mentioned. I like to learn APIs by looking at the type hierarchy, instance methods etc. Where did this "value" property come from?? Why is it not listed in the Attr class' page? The only data descriptors mentioned are isId, localName and schemaType. Its also not inherited from any superclasses. Since I'm new to Python, would some of the Python gurus enlighten?

    Hi, My web page has two divs on it, A and B. Div A is visible, Div B is hidden. When the user clicks a link in div A, I want to "slide" div A off screen (leaving via the left edge), and slide div B on screen (entering via the right edge). I've found that jquery animations are very slow on the ipad, so I want to use the webkit CSS animations instead, which I believe are rendered in hardware. How do I do this?

As this example shows, i want td1 are fixed with different width, td3 is also width fixed but at the right, td2 are all width auto to expand when screen radio changed.
