• Improve heavy work in a loop in multithreading

  I have a little problem with my data processing. public void ParseDetails() { for (int i = 0; i < mListAppInfo.Count; ++i) { ParseOneDetail(i); } } For 300 records, it usually takes around 13-15 minutes. I've tried to improve by using Parallel.For() but it always stop at some point. public void ParseDetails() { Parallel.For(0, mListAppInfo.Count, i => ParseOneDetail(i)); } In method ParseOneDetail(int index), I set an output log for tracking the record id which is under processing.   Alright, my friend gave me this code for requesting headers and comparing them to what the header should be. It works perfectly, but I'm not sure why. • How to display a busy message over a wpf screen

  Hey, I have a WPF application based on Prism4. When performing slow operations, I want to show a busy screen. I will have a large number of screens, so I'm trying to build a single solution into the framework rather than adding the busy indicator to each screen. These long running operations run in a background thread. This allows the UI to be updated (good) but does not stop the user from using the UI (bad). What I'd like to do is overlay a control with a spinning dial sort of thing and have that control cover the entire screen (the old HTML trick with DIVs). When the app is busy, the control would display thus block any further interaction as well as showing the spinny thing. To set this up, I thought I could just have my app screen in a canvas along with the spinny thing (with a greater ZIndex) then just make the spinny thing visible as required. This, however, is getting hard. Canvases do not seem well set up for this and I think I might be barking up the wrong tree. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Each of the results from the query will contain a row 'GATE' with a value of (0-3), but there will not be any predictability to those results. One query could pull 4 rows with 'GATE' values of 0,1,2,3, the next query could pull two rows with values of 1 & 2, or 1 & 3.   I am creating a client-server application and I'd like to send data from server to client securely. Using public/private key algorithms makes sense and in PHP we can use openssl_sign and openssl_verify functions to check that the data came by someone who has the private key. Now imagine that one of the actions sent by server to client is destructive in nature. If somebody uses an HTTP sniffer to catch this command (which will be signed properly) how can I further protect the communication to ensure that only commands coming from our server get processed by the client? I was thinking about using current UTC time as part of the encrypted data but client time might be off. Is there a simple solution to the problem?

  I've read that one of the key beliefs of Python is that flat nested. However, if I have several variables counting up, what is the alternative to multiple for loops? For example one is 'time of day' and I'm matching for similarity so 'very early morning' is close to 'late evening', you can't just make it a linear scale from 'very early morning' at one end to 'late evening' at the other.
