• The href value of the Html anchor tag is rendering weird

  I want to assign dynamically the href value depending of certain things, I thing is important to mention that I have a Master Page, url routing and I am assigning absolute paths (like http://www.stackoverflow.com/questions/...). I've tried the following: <a href="<%= DynamicURL%>">testing urls</a> <asp:HyperLink runat="server" ID="hpLink">this teset brouw</asp:HyperLink> and in code behind hpLink.NavigateUrl = "http://www.someurl.com/morepath/morethisngs"; I have also tried this <a runat="server" id="aAccesories">Testing ...</a> and in code behind I do this: aAccesorios.HRef = "http://www.someurl.com/morepath/morethisngs"; what ever I try when I see the html source code the links render like this: http://localhost:10027/projectTest/\www.someurl.com/morepath/morethisngs so I cant create absolute paths or absolute URLS, doesnt matter what I tried, this is weird isnt it? i adds the domain to the urls and then it removes the http:// then it adds the path I wanted hope you can help me, thanks!

  hi, i'm searching forward in an array of strings with a regex, like this: for (int j = line; j < lines.length; j++) { if (lines[j] == null || lines[j].isEmpty()) { continue; } matcher = pattern.matcher(lines[j]); if (matcher.find(offset)) { offset = matcher.end(); line = j; System.out.println("found \""+matcher.group()+"\" at line "+line+" ["+matcher.start()+","+offset+"]"); return true; } offset = 0; } return false; note that in my implementation above i save the line and offset for continuous searches. anyway, now i want to search backwards from that [line,offset]. my question: is there a way to search backwards with a regex efficiently? if not, what could be an alternative? 10x, asaf :-) clarification: by backwards i mean finding the previous match. for example, say that i'm searching for "dana" in "dana nama? dana kama! lama dana kama?" and got to the 2nd match. if i do matcher.find() again, i'll search forward and get the 3rd match. but i want to seach backwards and get to the 1st match. the code above should then output something like: found "dana" at line 0 [0,3] // fwd found "dana" at line 0 [11,14] // fwd found "dana" at line 0 [0,3] // bwd

  Hello, I am trying to replace some text in a string with different text while retaining some of the text and I am having trouble doing it. My code is: StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(fDialog.FileName.ToString()); string content = reader.ReadToEnd(); reader.Close(); /Replace M2 with M3 (this works fine) content = Regex.Replace(content, "M2", "M3"); I want to replace a string that contains this: Z0.1G0H1E1 and turn it into: G54G43Z.1H1M08 (Note the Z value and the H value contain the same numeric value before the text change) The trouble I am having is that when I replace the values, I need to retain the H value and the Z value from the first set of text. For example, Z0.5G0H5E1 I need to add the new text, but also add the H5 and Z0.5 back into the text such as: G54G43Z0.5H5M08 But the Z values and H values will be different every time, so I need to capture those values and reinsert them back into the string when add the new G54G43 values. Can someone please show me how to do this using Regex.Replace? Thanks so much, Shawn

  Hello StackOverFlow, My first question and Im excited... I've lurked since go-live and love the site, however I apologize for any newbie errors, formatting, etc... I'm attempting to validate the format of a string field that contains a date in Java. We will receive the date in a string, I will validate its format before parsing it into a real Date object. The format being passed in is in the YYYY-MM-DD format. However I'm stuck on one of my tests, if I pass in "1999-12-33" the test will fail (as it should with a day number 33) with this incomplete pattern: ((19|20)\\d{2})-([1-9]|0[1-9]|1[0-2])-([12][0-9]|3[01]) However as soon as I add the characters in bold below it passes the test (but should not) ((19|20)\\d{2})-([1-9]|0[1-9]|1[0-2])-(0[1-9]|[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01]) *additional note, I know I can change the 0[1-9]|[1-9] into 0?[1-9] but I wanted to break everything down to its most simple format to try and find why this isn't working.   I do not know ruby. I am trying to use the following regex that was generated by ruby (namely by http://www.a-k-r.org/abnf/ running on the grammar given rfc1738) in php. It is failing to match in php, but it is successfully matching in ruby. I would also prefer not to use a regex, but it's the closest I've come to success.

  Hi there, I was moving along on a regex expression and I have hit a road block I can't seem to get around. I am trying to get rid of "(" in the middle of a line of text using regex, there were 2 but I figured out how to get the one on the end of the line. its the one in the middle I can hack out. Here is the snippet I am searching for in the config file. I put 2 examples. guestOSAltName = "Ubuntu Linux (64-bit)" guestOSAltName = "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" Here is the snippet I am working on. if ($vmx_file =~ m/^\bguestOSAltName\b\s+\S\s+\W(?<GUEST_OS> .+[^")])\W/xm) { $virtual_machines{$vm}{"OS"} = "$+{GUEST_OS}"; } else { $virtual_machines{$vm}{"OS"} = "N/A"; } I am thinking the problem is I cannot make a match to "(" because the expression before that is to ".+" so that it matches everything in the line of text, be it alphanumeric or whitespace or even symbols like hypens.   We all know <%=expression%> features in asp.net. We can print any string on page from there. Mostly we are using them in asp.net mvc. Now we have one new features with asp.net 4.0 that we have HTML Encoded Expressions and this prevent Cross scripting attack as we are html encoding them. ASP.NET 4.0 introduces a new expression syntax <%: expression %> which automatically convert string into html encoded. Let’s take an example for that. I have just created an hello word protected method which will return a simple string which contains characters that needed to be HTML Encoded.   Hi, I have a regular, nested HTML unordered list of links, and I'd like to scrape it with PHP and convert it to an array. The original list looks something like this: <ul> <li><a href="http://someurl.com">First item</a> <ul> <li><a href="http://someotherurl.com/">Child of First Item</a></li> <li><a href="http://someotherurl.com/">Second Child of First Item</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="http://bogusurl.com">Second item</a></li> <li><a href="http://bogusurl.com">Third item</a></li> <li><a href="http://bogusurl.com">Fourth item</a></li> </ul> Any of the items can have children. (The actual screen scraping is not a problem, I can do that.) I'd like to turn this into a PHP array, of just the links, while keeping the hierarchical nature of the list. Any ideas? I've looked at using htmlsimpledom and phpQuery, which both use jQuery like syntax. But, I can't seem to get the syntax right. Thanks.

  I have an XML file that contains a message with html tags in it. The XML file is read by a java class that mails it to people. When the mail is received, the accents do not show. For example é doesn't show. I have tried &eacute; in the xml but it gives an error in eclipse saying that the entity has not been declared. I also tried simply inserting &#233; but that shows nothing in the final output. The 3rd thing I tried was using <![CDATA[é]]> but that broke the parser since it didn't output anything after it. However I noticed something weird. When i put something like this in the xml and added UTF-16 encoding <message>text bla bla blaa é&lt; it did ouput the é at the end like this bla bla blaa blaa é. EDIT <message>text bla bla blaa éé&lt; outputs ?é or just one é The file looks something like this: <?xml version="1.0"? encoding="UTF-16"> <message> &lt;b&gt;hello é &lt;/b&gt; </message> </xml> What gives?

• How to automatically expand html select element in javascript

  I have a (hidden) html select object in my menu attached to a menu button link, so that clicking the link shows the list so you can pick from it. When you click the button, it calls some javascript to show the <select>. Clicking away from the <select> hides the list. What I really want is to make the <select> appear fully expanded, as if you had clicked on the "down" arrow, but I can't get this working. I've tried lots of different approaches, but can't make any headway. I've tried setting the .size = .length which works, but doesn't have the same appearance (as when you click to open the element, it floats over the rest of the page.) Does anyone have any suggestions?

• GWT Html Layout Conventions

  I've just started working with GWT and I'm already recognizing the extraordinary power that it possesses. I'm coming from a frontend world so the Java is a big learning curve, but I think that will actually help me build a properly laid out app (html-wise) instead of just relying on the default GWT panels that often end up using tables for layout, or superfluous, absolutely positioned divs. The biggest thing slowing me down right now however is deciding how to properly lay out the design of my site. I've got a pretty standard 2-col header/foot site (fixed width) that I want to design, but I'm not a fan of all the extra divs/styling etc that come with the DockLayoutPanel for instance. I'm thinking that I should just write my own Layout widget extending Composite that has HTMLPanels for the general site layout (I think... still haven't fully figured that out yet, ie. how do I add ID's to these panel divs "#header", "#nav" etc...) then I can add other widgets into this layout But the other thing I'm seeing is that I could write a Layout class extending UiBuilder and have straight up divs in the ui.xml file. I'm just wondering, what is the preferred method for site layout with GWT? This isn't going to be re-used in the sense of other widgets, it will be used once and my controls etc will be placed inside. Any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated! And if I've completely missed the boat on how to do this, let me know

• HTML & CSS Horizontal menu with items on left & right

  Hi all, I'm building an horizontal menu in html+css. The current result is fine, except I want to have some items on the left, and others on the right. I couldn't find usefull result on Google with such common keywords so I'm asking on SO. Here's my code so far: #menu { background-color: #383838; height: 65px; margin-bottom: 20px; } #menu ul li { float: left; } <div id="menu"> <ul> <li>Link 1</li> <li>Link 2</li> <li>Link 3</li> </ul> </div> I'd like to have Link 3 on the right, so the space between link 2 and 3 should be filled at maximum. I don't want a filler <li> tag, but instead apply a class to the last <li> on the left, or the first <li> on the right. Don't want to adjust the width as I've a :hover background color changing effet on the links. I suppose margin or padding should do the trick but I can't manage to find how. Any clue?   I need to create a 2 tables in HTML format. Each has 5 rows: 1st Table 1st row has FRUITS in it, occupying all columns 2nd row has January(month), occupying all columns 3rd row has names of some 6 fruits (apple, orange, grapes,...)These names do not change. so this row has 6 columns 4th row has rates for each fruit ( 10,20,30..) so this has 6 columns. 5th row has corresponding message for each fruit showing as Available or not. 2nd Table If it is available the background color for the cell should be green and if not RED. 1st row has VEGETABLES in it, occupying all columns 2nd row has February(month), occupying all columns 3rd row has names of some 6 vegetables (tomato, potato..)These names do not change. so this row has 6 columns 4th row has rates for each vegetable ( 10,20,30..) so this has 6 columns. 5th row has corresponding message for each vegetable showing as Available or not.If it is available the background color for the cell should be green and if not RED. All this data is read from a file having a particular format, it is <name of fruit/vegetable price <available or not The names of fruits and vegetable do not change , it will be same for both the tables. However, it might be possible that data for a particular fruit/vegetable is not present. if it is not present the the column for that should show N/A with white background. I cannot use MIME:Lite for this. Need to use print <<ENDHTML;

• how to capture key repeats with javascript

  i have an asp.net form and an asp:textbox. i have a problem when the user presses and HOLDS a key down. the user selects the text box and then presses and holds '9' until the text box fills with 9s. Is there any way to detect this situation? Is there a way to stop key repeats when the key is held down?

• How do you comment html templates in Php (in a practical way) ?

  Is there a simple solution to do the equivalent of Java's comments: <%-- this is a comment inside a template, it does not appear in the output HTML --%> Even if you use short php tags, you still have to wrap the comments with comment syntax, on top of the php tags: <? /* this is a comment of the html template */ ?> I'm considering doing some kind of filter on the output templates, to remove all html comments, or better yet, custom comments like the Java syntax above, but how would you do that in the most efficient way? You'd have to run a regexp right? The reason for my question is simply that in a MVC framrwork, using components, and re-usable html templates (think YUI), I need to document clearly those templates, in a readable way..
