Vmware 7 AppHangB1 on windows 7 x64 (host) and windows xp (guest)

I'm having an issue running Windows XP professional guests using Vmware workstation 7.0.0 build-203739 in a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit host. My platform is a Dell Studio XPS 13 with 6GB RAM with an x64 processor. The VMWare freezes for up to 90s every 15 - 20 minutes, then just carries on as if nothing happened!

I've no idea what the problem is ... Any idea?
