Restricted blogspot account. Unable to subscribe using Google Reader?

I used blogspot.com and restricted its viewership to just its authors.

However I cannot use Google Reader to subscribe to the RSS feed.

Is there a workaround?

I need to be notified somehow whenever somebody posts to that private blog. I am one of its authors.

My blogspot.com allows me to set the readership to just its authors. So that is what I have done. I did not do any password protect settings at all.
