How to determine the effective bandwidth on my local machine?

Hi,

I am working on an asp.net web application where I would like to show the user how much Data, time and bandwidth speed (effective) was available to the user when he is downloading a certain page of my application.

This info is to be displayed at the status bar.

Any help is deeply appreciated.
