Microsoft is planning to release the second edition of SQL Server 2008, the new edition will named SQL Server 2008 R2 due to be released by May 1st 2010.
Amongst the change on the edition is pricing which is anticipated to go up by 25% for the Standard Edition and about 15% for the Enterprise Edition. As for the features, there are some very cool additions including PowerPivot for SharePoint, Master Data Services and Multi-Server Administration. There is also enhancements on the Database Engine, Reporting Services and Installation Process.
