How does google maps know my current location on my iTouch?

Using only my home wi-fi, how is google maps able to locate my current position? I know the device doesn't have gps. Also no cellular data to triangulate.

I read about skyhook that has a db of popular wifi hot spots but I doubt my house is listed.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks
