I started getting a strange message when I start my computer. An icon appears in the system tray, and a popup tells me "Encrypting file system - Back up your file encryption key".
I know what EFS is, but I don't use it. To my knowledge, I don't have any encrypted files on my partition.

Hi,
as a SaaS provider with sensitive informations we think about crypted filesystem (under Linux) but is there any problem about performances or maintenance if the filesystem crash?
We want to use it on Mysql server for web application with medium load but high peeks of visitors.

I am trying to use encfs in reverse mode. I understand that the passphase is used to encrypt a key which is then stored encrypted into the encfs6.xml file.
