Using Subversion for Web Experiments while maintaining 'view-ability'

I'm experimenting with different workflows and backup schemes, and one thing I'm trying is using subversion for my web experiments.

I have an off-site subversion server, and assuming the project is 'public_html' (which in this case it is), I want to be able to go to the index.html page and for it to be rendered instead of just pumped out as a text file.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious; I am not a web developer
