interview questions for a 7 year Exp Guy?

What kind of approach I(5 Years Exp In Java J2ee Platform) need to follow to interview 8 years exp Guy in Java and J2ee technology.

I am asking all the basic questions, where he is able to answer, if he is atleast the bookish knowledge.

I want to ask some thing different where we can check his actual skills in technical.

Can any one help me with some thoughts where i can use to get some good and technical challenging questions to ask?
