How do I authenticate a user into Django , when I created that user without a password?

 new_user = User.objects.create_user(r_username, r_email)

I created a user. Now I log him in. But how?

loggedin_user = authenticate(username = r_email, password="!")
loggedin_user = authenticate(username = r_email, password="")
loggedin_user = authenticate(username = r_email)

These don't work.
