Can I upgrade my promotional copy of Vista Ultimate to Windows 7?

I got a free promotional copy of Windows Vista at a Microsoft Event a while back. I'd like to upgrade to Windows 7 - how can I find out if this is possible (from a licensing/legal point of view)? Has anyone with the same sort of promotional version managed to upgrade successfully? alt text
