mencoder , ripping dvd but audio seeking doesn't work

I'm trying to rip a dvd on linux using mencoder I'm doing:

mencoder dvd://0  -ovc lavc -lavcopts autoaspect -alang en -oac copy -o dvd.avi

And the video + audio is nice, however if I seek/fast forward when playing the .avi file - the audio always starts from scratch again - what am I doing wrong ?
