Google Translate Widget fails in Firefox

I am attempting to implement the Google Translate Widget where you include a piece of javascript code into your page and it gives you a language dropdown. This was very straightforward however, it does not work in Firefox. It works in IE, Safari, Chrome. Has anybody experience this problem and is there any workaround?

With some research, it seems that people said that it used flash. However, I don't have any flashblock installed or anything like that.

If you load up the Google Translate blog, their translate box in the top right doesn't work:
