How did you get your first programming job?

Hi All,

I have some commercial programming experience although it was not my primary role (C# and Java), SCJP 6 cert, some SQL experience and have been doing a lot of Android programming (I have one app with 36,000 downloads). I have a degree in Chemistry and a Diploma in Programming (half a degree made up of 2nd/3rd year uni courses).

I'm trying to get my first entry level programmer job but am finding it tough out there.......How did other people get there first jobs in programming?
