Can Windows 7 Built-in VPN Replace Cisco VPN?

Is there any way that the built-in VPN interface in Windows 7 can replace the rediculous Cisco VPN software? I have tried several times using different methods and have failed. It seems if you just plug in the IP addresses and information it doesn't work.

Cannot connect with Cisco VPN but can connect with ShrewSoft VPN
