On a macbook air (MacOS X 10.6.5), when doing skype calls people are complaining they hear me very low - so I had a look to the system preferences under audio and noticed the input volume was 54%. I am now trying to set the input volume to 100%. To my surprise the volume is gradually set back as I speak.

I tried deselecting 'use ambient noise reduction' but it doesn't help.'

Is there any way to avoid this volume auto-setting feature?

Any help appreciated!
