I downloaded 12.10 iso but there is no upgrade option, just install. How can I remove the 11.10 installation and install…

I would like to know if the new open-source video driver included in kernel 3.0.x for the Intel GMA 500 will be included by default in the kernel that will be shipped in OO.
The driver support of this GFX chipset has always been poor and mainly community-driven, now finally we have a KMS open-source…

I manually installed vmware-tools and it went…

I installed 11.10 ~two weeks ago and run into some strange troubles recently.
Installation was on brand new laptop with clear 128GB SSD. I opted for encrypting home directory. Apart from that I accepted defaults during the installation. There is no other OS on my laptop.
I had circa 40GB in use…

I upgraded my Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04, and it not only broke the ATI proprietary fglrx driver, but also the ability to use the VESA or open-source ati or radeon drivers.
I have an ATI RV610 which is an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT.
I have Linux Kernel 2.6.27-14-generic and 2.6.28-13-generic.
With fglrx, vesa…

Okay its a long question title for sure.
I'm looking for a new video card (yes,SU is not a page for that, but wait). I've been a loyal NVidia customer ever since, now using a 8600gts. Old but still somewhat good, its a bit slow though. I want an upgrade because 8600gts wont support better vdpau…

Does anyone know if it is possible to rotate a monitor from landscape to portrait mode on Windows Server 2003 32-bit with an ATI video card?
According to Dell's site, I should be able to rotate my Dell P2310H monitor by installing drivers from their website, but they don't have drivers for Windows…

I'm heading in the direction of a three monitor set up and hence suspect I need to go the dual video card route. At the moment, I've a Radeon X1900GT driving two 19" monitors which I'd like to keep and augment with something like a Radeon 5570 which would drive a 22" display.
As such, I'm just wondering…
