I am using ubuntu 11.04 and I have noticed that Gnome/Nautilus remembers a "global" setting for size/position using the last window open instead of remembering an individual size/position for each folder.

Also, this applies for some applications as well. I find this a real productivity killer and I think its one of the most basic features of a window manager. Funny thing is, that windows had this feature for a long time now.

I have tried devilspie but I find it would be really time wasting to configure every folder that way.

Is there any fix for this issue, if not what window manager would you suggest me?

Thank you!
