I have a problem that I haven't been able to find a solution to. I recently decided to switch from Windows to Ubuntu 11.10, so I originally installed Ubuntu using the wubi installer for windows.

After I installed Ubuntu with wubi I installed drivers for nvidia using the additional drivers from system setting and everything worked fine. I then decided that I no longer wanted windows on my computer because i was having problems with it crashing when I went to remove the partition with windows on it using an Ubuntu Live CD I made I found that there were unrepairable problems with both of my partitions so I decided to delete both partitions and install Ubuntu again from the cd now when I try to install nvidia drivers my gui will not load when i start my computer.

I have found people who have had similar problems with the gui not loading after installing nvidia drivers but no one who had there gui working after installing with wubi then not working after installing from a cd.

I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 32 I have also tried other versions of linux like openSUSE and have had the same problem with the gui not being able to load after installing nvidia drivers.
