Max ram for computer 16GB or 8GB

Manufacturer's specifications for my notebook say memory can be extended from 4GB to 8GB.

Whereas, running sudo dmidecode suggests the computer can use 16GB as below:

Handle 0x0037, DMI type 16, 15 bytes
Physical Memory Array
Location: System Board Or Motherboard
Use: System Memory
Error Correction Type: None
Maximum Capacity: 16 GB
Error Information Handle: Not Provided
Number Of Devices: 4

Which one is correct?
