On a brand new install of Precise, after installing byobu, I'm facing the following behaviour:

Byobu Split Screen

ie. all internal splits on byobu (using Ctrl+F2) will just attach to the same screen session. What I type on the left is reflected on the right.

The solutions on this question while on the same problem do not help me out.

I've tried the following:

  • byobu-disable both inside and outside the byobu session
  • byobu new-session
  • byobu shell just runs a new simple screen session as far as I can figure it out. This does not include terminal splits, so it does not help me.
  • byobu -S screen-name lets me create two separate byobu sessions, but split screens lead to duplicates in both.
