Using Ubuntu 12.04, desktop, I had LAMP installed on my computer, and was using it as a server. However, after doing the upgrades one day, apt-get throws an error that mysql-server can't be configured, as it depends on another package:

jay@rumbles:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 mysql-server-5.5 : Depends: mysql-server-core-5.5 (= 5.5.22-0ubuntu1) but 5.5.24-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 is installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f
