Chromium or Google Chrome in Ubuntu 12.04, selecting Bookmarks from the drop down menu causes Chromium/Chrome to close.

I have deleted my profile, I have installed the latest Chromium/Chrome and tried BETA and UNSTABLE releases. It seems to be an issue with my Ubuntu installation.

Any ideas?
