Best practices to work on several programming projects simultaneously

Most of the time I have to work on several projects simultaneously. I want to provide my best output at every project.

What practices would be the best for me work on each project with better output?

EDIT: It is better to follow http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/fog0000000022.html But every companies does not follow JOEL methodologies. In this situation, what should i do?
